I really enjoy the Complex series – in all honesty, I have not read as many of the books as I would like to be able to claim I have – but all I’ve read I’ve found to be a lot of fun. True North is no different – whilst it’s not my favourite in the series, it’s certainly an enjoyable read.

As with all the other books in the series, this book offers up a drama-filled romance in a complicated world of supernatural creatures. I really enjoyed the use of mages in this one, as none of the prior books I

Trigger warning: (view spoiler)

I had never heard of this series before Elizabeth Burgess contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing this title, True North. While The Complex is technically a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone and is written by a different author. I’ve read Burgess’ writing in the past and enjoyed i

This was a hard one to put down to be honest, I enjoyed it very much and I wish there was more of this too read.

The Complex is an intriguing place to live where, although all inhabitants are meant to be 'equal' there are still class distinctions. But then again, this helps to bring out the main characters as very intriguing and resourceful people. For example, when Lake and Gideon are going into
the lake and drill a hole to the outside to bring in a stowaway! Or that the ‘baddie’ in the story (

Wow! I loved this novella. The races that form the Complex are desperate trying to find a cure for the unknown diesease spreading through the community. The Metas had a lot of issues with the human population, so it was very easy to place the blame on them.

Through all the heartache and drama, true bonds were formed. A new peace settled between the races and unity was strong.

Such a great uplifting read at the end and the epilogue was awesome. Flove it!
I really liked the story, especially the medical side of it but my enjoyment of the romantic part was severely tainted by Aldous' terrible hypocrisy.
Aldous: *speaking to his mother* "You can't be with this Human. It's against the law."
Aldous: *speaking to himself* "I need to shag this Human no matter what."

Hate and Love

Living on a new planet with many types of people. Human and Metas, there's always a chance for hate to blow up .
After fate takes a turn for the worse, a mage must trust a human to save his son. In the end love outweighs hate.

This tale truly will give you the warm and fuzzies! Not only do you get the perfect HEA, but you also get a very fulfilling conclusion as well. A strange illness keeps this storyline moving at an excellent pace. The inevitable bad guy truly didn’t get revealed until the last possible moment keeping you in suspense! Yet again there are plots to undermine the purpose of the Complex! Even though I know that is the premise of this series, each book has it’s own unique characters and I truly enjoy th ...more

For Elizabeth Burgess, writing is not only what she loves to do, it is freedom, salvation, and escape. It is life. Introduced to the art of words at a young age by Junior High English teacher, she poured herself into a self-study of all things poetry and prose throughout the entirety of her high school and college career—hoping to one day become a lyricist in Nashville. As the years went on, her d ...more
