Mech Corps by Jake Bible is an audio book I requested and the review is voluntary. This is the second book I have read from this author and I loved the other one too. It is a great sci-fi novel filled with action, adventure, aliens, battles, suspense, high tech excitement, and more. Great narration that fit the story perfect. The plot, characters are well developed and the story was never dull. Earth is on the downhill, and humanity is looking for another place to live. On this one planet, they ...more

If you dislike mechs and descriptions but enjoy hours of pointless blather, you will feel right at home reading this book.

I was unable to finish despite trying repeatedly. I managed about 65%. Very little happens but you have a fair amount of characters who like to shoot the shit about nothing much. For hours.
In that time mechs were only in the story a couple instances and they did almost nothing and mostly referred to by others when they were. Descriptions of pretty much everything were lackin

The duo of Jake Bible and Andrew B. Wehrlen once again pull off another gritty and grimy fast-paced military action science fiction story with their recent audiobook release called “Mech Corps”. The book follows a division of space marines who pilot large metal bipedal machines called mechs; mechanical robots. A quick glance at the book’s cover art give you an impression of what these contraptions look like; scary. With the population of earth needing to relocate elsewhere in the universe, milit ...more

"Brace for impact"
Earth has become almost unsustainable. If new planets cannot soon be found for habitation, the human species will become extinct.. But they are proving far more difficult to find than expected. Until a near perfect alternative Eden is found. Trouble is, there is something already there and it doesn't want invaders. With the advanced team destroyed and communication lost, the Jethro is sent to find out what happened and recover survivors, if any. It is a sh

Earth is dying, so the human race is desperate in trying to find another survivable planet. They found the perfect candidate, but this planet is inhabited by a very dangerous race of aliens, and none of the ships sent has succeeded until now. This is why this time they are sending the Jethro and its famous Mech Corps, 30-foot human-piloted robots. Also, the soldiers aboard the Jethro are no regular ones, so they are the last

Boy do I like a book about giant fighting robots! Jake Bible made that notion very clear to me already with Fighting Iron 1 and 2. Check out my reviews for those at LARC-SciFi(dot)com/bookreviews. What could be better than Clay and Gibbons? How about the Jethro? A space ship full of battle mechs and the personnel to pilot, accompany, and support the big battle bots. It’s led by a woman who will cage-fight any of her crew that step out of line. They deal with hostile animal life as humanity seeks ...more

Fast Paced, Gritty, Entertaining SciFi Mech Read

"Mech Corps," authored by Mr. Jake Bible, proved to be a fast paced, gritty, and thoroughly entertaining SciFi read, centered around the battle for a planet, between Mech troops and the planet's hostile inhabitants.

The story takes place in the future, on the remote edges of known human space. The Earth is rapidly plunging into the abyss of overpopulation, feudal/hereditary family corporate governance, and dwindling resources. Explorations for a su

The combination of Jake Bible's stories and Andrew Wehrlens narration is hard to beat.

Jake Bible is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. His stories are packed full of non- stop action, suspense and adventure. Add in a heavy dose of sarcasm and humor and his books are just plain fun and pure entertainment. This book is no exception. It's a very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable book. It pulled me in immediately and kept my attention from start to finish.

Great cast of well rounded c

Mech Corps is a fast paced, action filled military science fiction story. The world is dying and Space Marines, who pilot giant robot type fighting machines called Mechs, have been sent out to find a new plant for the human race to relocate to. The only problem is that the planet they find has inhabitants that are not open to sharing and are very good at fighting back. This story is filled with filled with gritty action, suspense, aliens, humour, exciting battles and high tech. Each member of th ...more

Andrew B. Wehrlen was the narrator who granted me this book for review.
This is something of an origin story about the creation of the Mech Corps as a political entity.
Jake Bible tells his story in an active voice that carries through.
I consider this type of story to be snacks for a journey. It is that role that it is well suited. The tale went quickly and was easily continued at my infrequent break

Earth is searching for a new home since we’ve turned it into a wasteland. As we travel the galaxy we come across other inhabitants; some friendly, some not so much. The Mechs come up against beings they call Zenos. Evidently they look like a huge flexible spider or something that reminds them of an octopus. Anyway, put those two visions together and you got it. These Zenos were not only numerous, but intelligent. As Drop Ships and Mechs were overcome, the Zenos picked up their weapons and used t ...more

"Lots of alien action and destruction."

I liked the characters and all the action in this story. The relations between everyone on the Jethro were terrific, a wonderful family. I definitely want to see another book after this one. What I didn't care for was some of the dialogue, maybe reading it would be different. The narrator says one or two words then;"says someone", then another character says one word, "says someone else",this goes on 4 - 6 times and happens a lot. I know we need to know who

If you liked Starship Troopers action then this is your kind of story , instead of mobile infantry we have a political battle for a new home for humanity and mech corp for battles on the ground against a very numerous and robust foe.
The story is quite good although the very very repetitive use of he said /she said becomes very annoying.
Narration is good although maybe some more obvious differences in voices would help with the repetitive use of said. Otherwise very easy to listen to.

Giving us some history to his space adventures

I haven't read a Jake Bible book I haven't loved. This story can be read alone, but it seems more fun to read all of his space adventures and Mech series. This book ties the 2 series together. The Mech series ties into the Zburbia series, as well.

Do yourself a favor, pay for Kindle Unlimited and read all of his books. You won't regret it.

Bible has a way of weaving together humor, sci-fi, horror and adventure and creating a whole new world you can't

KYAG!

Earth is on its last legs and there's a planet that could be humanity's saviour, shame it's already occupied. The mechs and their pilots have a battle ahead, it won't be pretty.
I loved it! As always the characters are diverse and mostly slightly crazy. The story is so exciting that I was glued from the outset and put everything aside to finish it. The pilots are the absolute stars of this book.

Military Sci-fi that is among the best

You laugh and wonder at the adventures of the Jethro and it's crew of misfits. Mankind has ruined its home and is looking for a replacement...one has been found but there's a slight problem it's original tenants fight viciously to keep their turf.
Now it's up to the crew of the Jethro to evict them and deal with a government that is badly in need of change.

I enjoyed this more than expected! The plot was gripping, and the main characters were interesting and larger-than-life.

It failed to get 5 stars, though, partly because of the excessive use of US military (and other) slang in the dialogue. This meant I often couldn’t follow the plot because I couldn’t understand what the characters were saying! It also meant I often missed what was probably intended as humour.

I also very much disliked the use of weird nicknames like "Chomps", "Rots", "Shock", "G

BAM! POW! SQUISH!!

From the first paragraph on the first page to the last period on the last page, the action never stops. Hell, it never slows down! If you want a story with great characters, a good plot that grabs you by the tale and won't let go, get this book. You'll enjoy!!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I enjoyed this book (audiobook) very much. But I think the characters lack depth and details. But all the action (and there's a lot of it) makes up for it. The storyteller did a wonderfull job distinguishing the different characters with voice and inflection!
Mech Corps realy is worth a listen!

Good story

Very imaginative story with very creative & interesting characters. I do not know any fighter pilots so i do not know how close to reality these characters are though i imagine they are not quite as colorful or creative as these pilots are.

Gritty and dark. Without going into spoilers there are some dark under currents in the expansion of man onto a new planet. Some with ethical concerns.

The book is a pretty fast paced military sci fi that I really enjoyed. In this crew there are no punches pulled, you get smacked in the gut over and over. I loved it.
