Book Review For: The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle 'The Duke Meets His Match' by Tina Gabrielle is Book Three in "The Infamous Somertons" Series. This is the story of Chloe Somerton and Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron. I have read the previous books but feel this can be a standalone book. Chole and her two sisters have come along way from the life they once knew thanks to her sister's marriages and with the passing of time. Now Chole has swore to marry well too and be respectable. ...more

This was great, albeit a bit short. Chloe was an endearing but fiesty heroine while Michael was the quintessential Duke with his frowning demeanour and stiff upper lip ( along with other stiff body parts, every time he encountered Chloe. ). He dislikes her at first because he recognises her as a pickpocket and concludes that she's a gold digger who is not good enough for his friend Henry. Poor dear Chloe has had a hard life and her reasons for having been a pickpocket were justifiable; plus, she ...more

It isn’t often that I read historical romance author that I have never read before….and enjoy it! I am pretty picky when it comes to HR authors, typically sticking to my favorites. But I know I need to branch out, and I’m glad that I did!

My love of historical romance is a longstanding one. It began with authors like Judith McNaught and Julia Quinn, but has expanded to include authors such as Darcy Burke and Vanessa Kelly among others. Tina Gabrielle sends me back to that time when I first discovered the awe of this magical genre. The battle of wills, the blending of hearts. Women of strength, times of desperation and domineering yet captivating men of means. The Duke Meets His Match is all that I expect and want romance to be. ...more

Wow! I loved it, it's well-written, and very interesting book. I loved the characters, as well as, the story. It's definitely one of the best historical romances I've read this year.

Chloe has secrets, there are things which she did in her past that will forever haunt her, and make her feel like a fraud. But still she wants her future to be perfect. Love is not what she desires, from her hard times she learned that financial security is the most important thing in life. Therefore, she hopes to

...' love is rare and special.' But can he acknowledge it?

Chloe Somerton knew what poor was. Being poor as a young child had led her into illegal activities. Now the past was behind her. Chloe's sisters had married well and this was her time. Chloe had set her sights on the pleasing, wealthy, young earl, Lord Henry Sefton. (As Chloe was young as well this hardly seemed difficult to me. On the other hand Chloe's 'hand to mouth' existence as a child has made her older in experience of the not so

Chloe and Michael's story is one not to be missed! The characters in this book are well-developed with depth and substance. The plot is interesting, engaging and had just the right amount of push/pull between Chloe and Michael. Scenery and clothing were described with a richness as to make them easy to picture. I immediately felt for Chloe, who had done some dishonest things in her past to help out her sisters, but is now on the up-and-up and desperately wants to live a simple, peaceful life ...more

The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle is Book 3 of The Infamous Somertons Series. While this story is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. This is Michael and Chloe’s story.

Good golly, Ms. Molly....what a read. A beautiful story that just grabs you tight and doesn’t let go. This is one fabulously written historical romance. I loved every minute of it. A must-read!

Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, wants only the best for his best friend’s son, Lord Henry Sefton. When Michael meets the woman who has stolen Henry’s young heart, he recognizes her in an instant. Miss Chloe Somerton is the young woman he saw pickpocketing years before. Although he knows her to be a thief, he cannot deny the attraction that burns inside him.

Michael knew even if he didn’t feel the enormous pull toward Chloe, she wasn’t the right woman for Henry. Chloe has a fire that would

I can only write, that I believe, this book is wonderful. It has the elements of compassion, passion, life, romance, love, sacrifice, betrayal. It has logic and wonderful characters. A story that makes you think some of it is real for you are certain such things happened. At the same time, it makes your heart feel for all the sacrifices that our service people give for us. I loved this book. I totally became a captivated party to its plot and its characters. It is not a book that you will find ...more

Everyone who knows me, knows that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book in the entire world. I have read it more than ten times and I never tire of revisiting it! In my opinion, Jane Austen was the greatest romance writer of all time. The struggle between Mr. Darcy and Lizzie Bennett is one of the best known and greatly enjoyed battle of wills in all literature. Many writers attempt to emulate Jane Austen's writing and most come up short. However, the conflict between the main characters in ...more

This story was a wonderful blend of troubled soldier turned Duke and headstrong lady with a scandalous secret finding love that I hardly know where to start!

To begin with, it is a rare occurrence that an author captures the nuances of PTSD in such a way that shows how sudden and all consuming an "episode" can be. The fact that Chloe was not only able to recognize what was going on with him, but took it upon herself to find ways of helping him fight his demons says a lot about her character. In

With Michael threatening to reveal her secret, Chloe's ire is raised and she doesn't back down from the intimidating duke as explains her reason for thieving in ...more

I couldn't put it down!

I'll be completely honest; I wasn't sure if I'd like this book in the beginning, given how the synopsis read and how the story initially progressed. I formed certain opinions about Chloe in particular that gave me a "meehhhhh, not too sure about this book" feeling.

But, as the book went on and I learned more about Chloe and Michael, I LOVED it.

Talk about tortured. Michael, a battle-hardened war veteran, finds himself dealing with a certain affliction that I shall not name

I've read the other books in the series and enjoyed them. This is third in a series, but stands well alone. Chloe is the third sister in a family of daughters of a famous art forger. She has plans to marry a lord, then is recognized by his mentor, a Duke, as a girl he'd seen picking pockets. He confronts her, she confronts him, passion ensues delightfully. Not sure it's true to the time period, but it makes for wonderful storytelling! The H and h are well suited and matched. They have chemistry ...more

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Part of the story relates to PTSD from the battle at Waterloo and the lingering effects it has on Michael. Events can trigger an episode and during one of these Chloe assists in getting him safely home. The book is well written and keeps your attention. There is a lot more to the story but you need to read it for yourself. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.

I loved this historical read! Chloe is the last of the Infamous Somertons that has not wed and she is on the hunt for a husband that will give her security. Chloe believe that Henry is the man for her, however Michael, the best friend of Henry’s late father know that she is a fraud and a thief. Can Chloe convince Michael that she is none of those things and what secrets is Michael hiding. This is a fast paced read with lots of drama and emotion, I was hooked from beginning to end. A great read!

Great story about love and compassion. Michael is a war hero who's traumatic nightmares keep him in a state of mind numbing chaos that sometimes overwhelm him even in his waking hours, suspicious and fighting his inner demons caused by the war and the atrocities he witnessed. Chloe a young woman who has been through her own complicated life, a life of poverty and sickness but not without sacrifice.
Chloe and Michael are certainly attracted to each other but Micheal has difficulty accepting this

I received a review copy of this book.

This is the third book in the series but it is standalone.

I really liked the hero, Michael in this story. He suffers from the effects of war. He is protective and may make judgements but willing to admit when he's wrong. Chloe is kind and willing to help. The attraction between them is great.

The author did a good job in developing the emotional connection between the characters.

Fabulous read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While this is book 3 in a series, it is a standalone, with references to her two sisters, so you do not feel lost in the back story and makes me want to read their story. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.

I loved this story and read it in one sitting it was so captivating. I thought it showed the mental effects of war really well and how there is not a quick fix. Both Michael and Chloe are well-written characters that conveyed their sacrifice, compassion and passion. A beautiful love story.
