Our goals are to spotlight great writing and to donate proceeds from the contest and book sales to a Canadian charity. This year's recipient is The Canadian Council for Refugees.

About the author

Brenda Fisk has published two children’s adventure books and her short story, The Right Thing, won first place in the 2018 NOWW awards for creative non-fiction. Under pen name Makenzi Fisk, she authored a three-novel series, all of which were GCLS Mystery Thriller Finalists. Her first, Just Intuition, won their 2015 Award for Debut Author. Retired from policing, she writes in many genres and is always working on her next novel.

Purchased this book in support of a friend, and in support of the Canadian Council for Refugees. A nice collection of stories written by a variety of Canadians. I do think the editor failed the public, as this book, as a whole, had too many grammar and spelling errors.

This is a delightful anthology of Canadian Short fiction. For the most part, I found the stories to be enjoyable. The winner and the second place stories are fantastic and resonate. This collection has stories of multiple genres so you are sure to find at least one you will like no matter your reading preferences.
The proceeds from this anthology are being donated to The Canadian Council for Refugees, so grab yourself a copy and help celebrate and support the diversity that makes Canada so special.
