This was a wonderful study! I love how Skip takes apart the different elements of Bible study and presents them in an easy-to-understand fashion. I highly recommend this series!

When I picked up this via audiobook, I assumed it was the audio version of a printed book however this is the audio of the sermon teaching series, which for me was a bonus. Lots of really good content on how to study the Bible, Bible study methods, how to look at words in the literature and much much more.

Helpful and concise. I didn't find the first section on literary devices to be anything new, although Heitzig's discussion of parallelism in the Psalms and Proverbs was a welcome reminder of something that I'd forgotten!
I listened to the audiobook while running so didn't have my Bible with me to look up the references, and I do think I'll find it helpful to listen through the second and third sections again with my Bible open in front of me.
I think the author has also produced a slightly more lengthy audiobook of a similar title which I can't remember. I think this one would probably be more helpful to someone who hasn't done any Bible study before as it's a nice, concise introduction, whereas the other goes into much more detail.

This really does lay out a plan for Bible study. I like what amounts to a checklist because Bible study sounds hard and fearsome and I feel inadequate. But follow his outline - answer the five journalistic questions, look at both the immediate and distant context, put oneself in the scene etc.... and you have certainly and thoroughly studied the selected passage/parable/book. I am going to get a notebook and try his method. It was also a very readable and interesting book so I would recommend it to someone who wants to study the Bible more closely but is not any sort of theologian.

Great book loaded with good info. Skip is a very good speaker. Could not give book 5 stars because strickley speaking it isn't. It is 8 sermons put togethar. Highly recommended.
