A fantastic aid for children and adults, who like being out in the countryside, to identify the butterflies they see. Also a great encouragement to take children out and about exploring Britain's great outdoors! If you have more than one child they'll probably want a book each! Highly recommended.
Well I was in two minds if I should list this - it was actually packed in a parcel of books I received this morning however I wanted to note it simply for the fun of it as I remember the "spotters guide" books from my childhood.
Think of a pocket sized book on a particular subject with the idea that you would try and find and "mark off" the various items you saw on your adventure - in this case butterflies.
So in this book you have just shy of 50 pages of common and not so common British butterflies followed by 10 pages on facts about them and how you can encourage them in to your garden.
The reason why this book was so special to me was that I remember winning this book when I was at school after our school did a challenge to encourage wildlife in to our gardens (my parents were not so impressed when the vegetable patch filled up with snails and caterpillars)
It was a very short read true and not exactly challenging however it brought back a lot of unexpected and fun memories.
