Another action packed, captivating and engaging story. The opening chapter picks up right where the first book left off, as if it were just another chapter from the one before.

The plot thickens, the story becomes more involved, and the new characters and sub-stories are introduced. I got a bit confused a bit, as the interwoven stories were brought in, new characters were introduced, and keeping them separate and how the event you were involved in had bearing with what you already knew. A bit con

Good thing book 1 kicked butt

Book 2 still has an awesome story line. Unfortunately, somebody needs you slap the editor that proof read it. It's got a few spelling errors, a few more grammar errors, and some inconsistency. You can tell in a couple of patches where the author needed to rearrange some plot line stuff, and reword bits here and there. Not a problem. The problem is the editor dropped the ball. The storyline is still an A+, but it's much less immersive due to the shoddy proofreading a

This book had a lot going on with very little actually happening. I love character driven stories, but this wasn't one of them. It was more like watching a "found footage" style film with fits and jerks all over the place. There is some good build-up of a general story arc, but I begin to wonder if this will be another five book "trilogy" from DJ Molles.

Hard to resist

Great follow up to The Purge of District 89. Molles really keeps up the pace while adding depth to the characters and fleshing out the story. Some questions are answered, new questions are raised, and the tension builds throughout the story right up to the cliffhanger ending. Starting book three right away and looking forward to it.

Exciting and balanced

Interesting storyline that showcases humanity’s strengths and flaws. There are no clear victories, complexities of both protagonist and antagonist. And, of course, double agents on all sides.

Good

The story has interesting and intriguing plot lines with characters that are so human. The resistance cells are fighting and double crossing each other. meanwhile ordinary people are caught in the middle.

What did I just read?!?

This continuation of the war, brings us new sides, and a better understanding of where everyone is. I was so pulled into this story, and it's characters, that I cried when we lost one. And I tried to find a bookmark, while reading on my Kindle *laugh*

Became a D.J. Moller fan with the Remaining. He writes strong, layered, real characters. Believable story full of suspense, action, and real characters.

"Renegades" is the second book in a trilogy set in a future where China and Russian soldiers work with US soldiers to keep working class citizens in their designated careers and suppress resistance. The story of Walt's search for his wife and father continues in this book, and things have not gotten any easier for him since leaving AD89. The surprises learned at the end of "The Purge of District 89" are expanded on in this book and bring with them new challenges and struggles for Walt and his gr ...more
