I am currently going to CBT and this book is definitely a great resource tool for me to use with my sessions. The book is easy to read and understand and it allows you to recognise your own fears and by being broken down into twelve steps, Kristi guides you into taking control over your fear and help manage it in the right way.
It really opened my eyes to the feelings of fear I have been experiencing and I am hopeful that by using her twelve steps along with my CBT that I will finally be able to overcome them. This is not a read once and be done with it book, this is a gradual process that may take each person different lengths to complete, but no matter how long it takes, it is a great tool to overcoming fear in a clear and concise manner.
**I received an ARC which I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.**
It's a pretty good read this one. Presenting tools and steps in a very simplified manner. If your just starting out, understanding the mind and how it works can be overwhelming. While there are many other great books out there, this one is a good starting point.
If your looking for an overview to understanding some methods on over-coming fears, then give this a whirl. I would hope if this book is your starting point, that it would be enough to whet your appetite to delve deeper into the human conscious and subconscious!
I found this guide to be full of truths. Kristi's message is a practical one, offering the hope of freedom from fear through empowerment. She starts by stating simply "fear is a mental habit" and goes on to provide the steps to changing that habit. "You are a warrior," she writes. "You always have a choice." I particularly benefited from the idea of being able to change my personal narrative by changing what I choose to believe about myself. It's easy to just keep playing the old tapes over and over again, but I love how Kristi refuses to leave us there without a fight!
The main thing that comes to mind when I think about how to explain this novel is that Kristi Patrice Carter delivers. The synopsis tells you what you are going to get and this isn't just a bunch of fluff and a few examples/tips. This is full of examples and tools to use to make yourself better overall. She knocked it out of the park and I feel better for having read it.
I loved how this novel was full of great advice and solid examples. I didn’t feel like I was being told how to do something by someone who didn’t have legitimate facts backing them up, real world experience.
I think you need to go into reading this with somewhat of a clear head. It’s a nice novel to step away with and clear your mind to new ideas and thinking.
I liked the way that this was set up, the writing style was well done and easy to follow. The way it is written is extremely easy to follow and gives you a step by step process. I liked how the novel didn’t feel preachy, but was still helpful. I didn’t feel like she was telling me how to live my life, but more guiding me to a better me.
