This is the second book from Rebecca Drake that I have read. Last year I read “ Only Ever You” which I thought was a great read. So I was pretty excited to get my hands on this new novel.

“Just Between Us” is about four good friends - Alison, Julie, Sarah and Heather who seem to have it all. They all seem happy, healthy, and financially stable with great families. But we should never assume to know what goes

This is a hard book for me to review; a three star rating on my own scale means that overall I enjoyed the book, but I found some issues I couldn't overcome or the read wasn't altogether memorable. Here, I found I enjoyed the read in a broad sense, but struggled with the format and determined that I just wasn't engaged enough to keep all the details straight. This will be a short review, as I don't have a lot to say, but I still wanted to take the time to acknowledge that I read this and try to ...more

This is a story of friendship. How well do we really know our closest friends? How far would you be willing to go to help if they asked?

Four close friends (Alison, Sarah, Julie and Heather) all bond over their school age children. After the morning ritual of delivering the youngsters to school, they enjoy starting their day getting together for coffee. As their relationships develop, they schedule play dates, as well as occasional outings that include their husbands. Just every-day women enjoyi

This is a tightly written, suspenseful read about female friendship and the dynamics of relationships.

Certainly, as a born and raised Pittsburgher, my favorite part of this book was that it was written in my hometown. The city takes on a life of its own and almost becomes a singular character in the story. The details were well done and I loved reading about locations that I could picture in my head. Additionally, as a work from home mom, this one was very relatable.

Just Between Us is a novel about four friends Sarah, Heather, Julie, and Alison who have formed a bond over their school aged children. These four women bond over morning coffee dates and their friendship takes off.... literally when Alison notices a huge bruise on Heather's wrist. It all sort of crashes down from there......

My biggest issue with this novel was the characterization. The no

Full of surprises, friendship, stunners, and plenty of wine drinking!

A suspenseful and enjoyable read about a circle of four close girlfriends who find themselves involved in an event that threatens to shatter their lives! It took me some time to "get into" the story, but when I did it was "consuming" me!

The four friends are typical suburban moms raising their families. Heather is the friend who could be envied because she is married to Viktor, a respected surgeon and they live in a bea

Just Between Us by Rebecca Drake is the tale of four friends, Alison, Julie, Sarah, Heather. The story switches the point of view between these four ladies as we get to know them and their bond as friends and the secrets they are hiding.

Alison has played the what if game with herself wondering if anything had changed would she still be as close to these women or would she ever have met them? Their lives are perfect from the outside with their lovely suburban homes and healthy kids and the great

Alison, Julie, Sarah, and Heather are 4 suburban moms who become friends by meeting for coffee while the kids are in school to exchange parenting stories, gossip a little, and then later having playdates at their houses. They confided personal things to each other like women tend to do in close relationships. Heather is by far the more well off with her husband being a surgeon and a house to be envied. Well, this was a fast-paced read that was incredibly difficult to put down! I won't rehash the plot because the book synopsis sums up the first 12 chapters quite well. Narrated by four adult women this reminded me of shows like Pretty Little Liars and Desperate Housewives (the early seasons). What we do for our friends and their family secrets!

Now I am going to say something extremely annoying- I figured the end out early on. But Rebecca Drake's

Wow! I started this book this morning and finished it tonight.. just could not put it down.

How well do you really know your friends? What goes on behind closed doors is not always as it appears. How far would you go to protect yourself and your friends? The story of 4 women and the things that can snowball if you lie.

A very big thank you to Netgalley and St Martins Press for granting my wish for this book. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it.

The strange thing about a secret is it longs to be told. Someone can confide personal news —a terminal illness, having lied on a job application, even an indiscretion with a stranger— and you might simply focus on the story itself, the details and the implications, but if they add that caveat—“ don’t tell”— then suddenly that’s all you can think about doing.

Suspense/thriller Author Rebecca Drake takes us to a suburban town where four close friends each hide dirty secrets that are slowly revealed as the fast paced story in Just Between Us unfolds. This domestic drama, similar in some ways to Big Little Lies, showcases their perfect, small town existence, but behind the public facade, there is darkness.

Three friends believe the other is in an abusive marriage and when the husband is found dead, they all agree to cover up the murder. As the investigat

I noticed very early on that this book is quite reminiscent of Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I really enjoyed Moriarty's book, so this might have been perfectly fine, except that I couldn't help comparing the two and in that comparison, I am sorry to say, Just Between Us did not come out on top. My issue was mostly with the characters, who were all not very likable or even very well-developed. The plot was a little predictable, too, though if the characters had been intriguing, I wouldn't h ...more

I read this book very quickly; however, it became apparent about 1/3 through that this is a more shallow, less intricately plotted and less developed version of Natsuo Kirino’s “Out”, set in white suburban America. “Out” had so much tension and a wider scope. This was like the Wal Mart to “Out”’s Gucci.
Heather, Alison, Julie, and Sarah are suburban mothers and wives living in Pennsylvania. Their children attend the same school and they become close over weekly dates at the local coffee shop. Just Between Us is a character-driven, domestic thriller that delves into the intricate and dynamic bonds between friends and reminds us that everything is not always as it seems and you never really know what goes on behind closed doors.
