This is a debut novel from a writer who has been telling stories all of their life. "Son of the Revolution" is a fine thriller but it's also an examination of what it means to be "other" in society. The characters are consistent, believable and have depth. Alistair finds himself in the unenviable situation of wanting to simply fade into the background while being required to move into the spotlight. Son of the Revolution is an original take on the vampire mythos. This dystopian vampire novel is a slow-burner. There are no one-dimensional sparkly vamps here, it’s all about the characters. Alistair and his group of friends are ordinary folk (albeit with fur or an aversion to sunlight ) doing their best.
