"Knight’s enthralling plot will appeal to Christian readers interested in a story with very clear moral stakes." -- Publishers Weekly

I enjoyed reading this mysterious story that follows the Blake family. The characters in the book are well-written and relatable. The descriptions let readers feel like a part of the story without bogging them down in unnecessary fodder. The hardest part of reading the book was an occasional confusing jump from one character to another and some missing commas. However, I still recommend the book, as the story and overall writing style kept my attention despite the errors.

Devil of Gilding (Blake Duology) by December Knight is a Christian thriller that is compelling in both characters and plot. Written at an undated time in a small British territory, when lords reigned their lands and their favor is sought. James younger brother, Clemit is often on hand to guide and nurtu ...more

December Knight’s debut novel is riveting. Her characters, settings, and plot are well-developed wringing every emotion from the reader.

I felt I was lurking in the shadows watching the mystery unfold. The flower peddler’s cockney accent, the Devil’s madness, the fright & hopelessness of the kidnapped children are just a few examples of Ms. Knight’s ability to draw you into the story.

The Christian values interspersed throughout the story are not preachy, but are an intriguing part of the plot.

This novel had a gothic, melodramatic feel to it as it appeared to be set in 18th or 19th century England (although setting was vague). A good first novel that read quite easily.
I won a copy of this book from the author as part of the Goodreads Giveaways program.

Growing up, Toby Blake lived with his father, James Blake along with the servants that work in the mansion. His uncle and James younger brother, Clemit would often visit the duo. With only hearing stories and seeing the images of his mother, Toby had no remembrance of her since she died soon after giving birth. Toby's father
