The book begins with the fiery death of her parents and her "adoption" or capture by a want to be sorcerer that actually was behind the fire. She knew it and plotted their demise.

I just had a hard time getting in contact with Jatara. For a five-year-old she had the complex thinking of a thirty-year-old and even when she tipped her hand to her new masters, they chose to forget. They allowed her a lot of freedom for a captive where she immediately began to devise their deaths.

With several years

The moment I read the book description, I knew I would end up buying it. I'm a total sucker when it comes to epic fantasy novels and I wish I had all the time in the world to discover every single book in the genre. Besides, I was curious to learn more about Jerry Collins, especially since he's a debut author.

Anyway, if you've read other similar books, you will know what to expect from this one. There are no surprises, no "exceptions", no unique elements... but hey, that's actually good! That's

Intrinsic is a creative fantasy that loses itself to its own pacing before the story can begin in full. Starting with the first page, the book bombards readers with ceaseless information. While the setting is certainly interesting, the scenes progress with such speed that sometimes even the grammar and punctuation suffers. Violence portrayed is gratuitous, over-the-top, and happens with such suddenness that it scarcely has gravity. The rapid pacing leads to a sort of temporal confusion in which ...more

There is something about women with the ability to seduce men and to capture their souls. Regardless of how morally wrong that is and may seem, there is still something special about those nasty, sorceress-like seducers that can play with your mind and soul.
I like fantasy books and that is no secret. I like reading events from distant pasts, presents of different dimensions, realms and kingdoms that never existed, or existed in another parallel universe unknown to us. Intrinsic, a fantasy novel

"In a world where nothing is as it seems comes a woman with the power to possess the souls and wills of men, to do with as she pleases. Jatara thirsts for world domination, moved by an unrelenting drive to capture and control the minds of her subjects."

This intro sets up one heck of a backdrop for the story to be told. Intrinsic, written by Jerry Collins, is the first part of an upcoming fantasy series with a ton of potential. There is a lot going on here. Sorcery, magic, and demons surround

Intrinsic is really an interesting concept. Mainly because of the character Jatara. It is like, I want to like her as this strong feminist character. But I don’t know if i would ever want to be friends with her. For you GOT fans, she seems more Cersi than Kahelsi . That is really the best way I can think to describe it.

Her character is complex, confident, and powerful. Which is why the struggle and fight for power works pretty well when she faces these combative forces. Overall, this makes for

Jatara must fight against Derideon who is also set on winning this coveted position. She must fight to survive and conquer Derideon if she is to rule.

Intrinsic by Jerry Collins is a fantastic book with superb writing and a great deal of supernatural elements. For people who read many thrillers and books with supernatural elements, it can become a bit repetitive, but the plot elements like spells, demons, curses, and characters feel new and fresh in an exciting way. There is even a bit of a new language here.

Our protagonist, Jatara, is an orphaned girl who is strong and independent. She finds out that she is a descendant of powerful sorcerers,

Well written and full of adventure

I really enjoyed Intrinsic, it started out setting the scene telling the story of Jatara overcoming circumstances handed to her and becoming the strongest and most terrifying that she could be, the story continues on telling of her son Kragons life as he fufills his own destiny. This story is easy to follow and well thought out. The characters are all intense and are incredibly well written. It felt like I knew them all personally, he did so well describing

This book has some minor editing errors, but the story does detract from them. Jatara is a fascinating character who does justice to those who love Fantasy. She is complicated, and a t an early age her motivation is made clear even though her actions seem a bit extreme for one so young. Just a note to those who are interested that this book has some graphic scenes and a dark feel to it. This isn't your fluffy, mystical fantasy, this is an attempt at world domination and mind control by a ...more

A fantasy trip through mystic powers

This is a good story that contains everything from demons to dark magic and supernatural powers to uncontrolled lust for total domination. Jerry Collins is our story teller and he does a great job of taking this adventure to the next level, providing plenty of twists and unexpected events while we follow the exploits of Jatara and derideon. Good characters and easy to read and follow the story. I would recommend this one to all the sci-fi lovers out there.

Great if not for poor editing

I enjoyed the book and hope there will be more to follow but please get the next one properly edited because a times sentences simply made no sence without deciphering them.which took away from the enjoyment of the book
