Day of Secrets is another absolutely riveting book by author Daryl Wood Gerber (the first being last year's Girl on the Run), who is best known for her cozy mystery series, but as of late has been branching out into the suspense genre. In a nutshell, Chase, our protagonist is a former Navy man, now history professor, and must overcome the trauma of his past to find and save the father he never knew, all while trying to keep a vital document out of enemy hands. Fast-paced, and quite the page turn

Day of Secrets by Daryl Wood Gerber is one of those suspense novels that is hard to put down as it draws you into the story from the first chapter.
Chase Day is a very complex character that has to confront his past, uncover buried secrets and protect his grandmother. As he moves forward to find answers, he doesn't know who to trust. Is he paranoid or are his mother's secrets really deadly? The secondary characters added richness to the story as they all played an integral part of the story.

I am not typically a fan or action, suspense, mysteries, but I gave this story a try and was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Once my children went to sleep I was able to get into it and could not put it down! The book grabs you from the first few pages and holds tightly, bringing you along with it through non-stop action and story-line progress. There are no dull moments, fast paced seems like an understatement. The characters are all very well described and because of the nature of

I have read and loved many of Daryl Wood Gerber's cozy Cookbook Nook series, and also her Cheese Shop mysteries written under her pen name of Avery Aames. Day of Secrets is more of a thriller mystery and definitely has a different tone and intensity. The book starts with the main character Chase Day receiving a call from his mother, a women he has thought dead for twenty some years. She asks him to come to the trailer they lived in and to hurry. He arrives at the trailer to find that his mother

Most mystery readers know this author as Avery Aames, author of the cozy Cheese Shop mystery series, However, if you are looking for another cozy mystery, keep looking; this isn't it. This is the author's second foray into the suspense/thriller genre. And thrill it does. There is nothing predictable about this story; Gerber takes us on one thrill ride after another. The hero, Chase Day, is a likable, everyday sort of man. A former Naval officer, he now teaches War History at a local college. He

I loved the complexity of the characters and the plot in Day of Secrets. Chase Day received a call from someone he thought was long dead...his mother, asking him to meet her. When Chase arrives, his mother is barely hanging on, but manages a few words. This sends Chase on a mission to find the father he never knew, and to figure out who killed his mother and why.

Day of Secrets is the second thriller-type mystery from Daryl Wood Gerber and it is spectacular!
Wow. That was the first word that came out of my mouth when I finished this book yesterday evening on my evening break. The second phrase was "Holy Toledo that was intense!" Both of which are dead-on accurate.

This was a suspense novel that hit me like a breath of fresh air. As someone who thoroughly enjoys thrillers, it is usually difficult to find one that you cannot predict. I was unable to predict where this book was going and found it bothersome to have to put down without necessary good reason. I would recommend this book to my fellow mystery/suspense reader peers as well as those looking for a fresh author. I would say this is an author to look out for as well as look forward to with each new

This fast paced, well plotted mystery from Daryl Wood Gerber was fantastic! It hooked me from the beginning with the plot and the complex characters and it was full of twists that kept me guessing who could be trusted. There was so much happening that I didn't want to put the book down. I liked the characters and hope that I will see them again in future books.

Thank you Daryl for giving me a whole day of amazing reading. This book just made the Sabbath FLY by.

Day of Secrets by Daryl Wood Gerber begins with Chase Day teaching a therapeutic art class and getting several phone calls that he sends to voice mail. A former lieutenant in the Navy, Chase now teaches War History at a college. Once the class is complete he gets another call, this time from his mother who has been dead for over 31 years asking for his help. This call sets into motion the entire rest of the story where Chase discovers secrets in his past and how by them being revealed he is thre

Someone thought to be dead contacts Chase, then dies and leaves Chase with more questions than answers. Secrets and lies. Paranoia? Maybe, maybe not. Chase must find the truth. Why has the past remained hidden for so many years and why did it suddenly rear it's ugly head? I highly recommend Daryl's newest thriller. It will keep you on the

DAY OF SECRETS is an enthralling, fast paced thrill ride. From the first sentence, I was compelled to see what happened next, devouring each word.
Gerber steps out of her comfortable cozy mystery genre to firmly make her mark in the world of suspense and thrillers. Her characters are well developed while still leaving some things to the reader’s imagination. The story comes to a satisfactory conclusion, but I was left wanting the story to go on. To me, that is a sign of good story telling.

A twisting plot and suspenseful story. Day of Secrets by Daryl Wood Gerber was an intriguing and, at times, a heart-wrenching read. A man who believes his mother is dead comes briefly back into his life and reveals a secret. You just never knew where this story was going to go and I raced through the pages to find out what would happen next. The interactions between characters were believable, and the characters were complex and interesting. The storyline held a steady pace.

I really enjoyed this story. I don't read too many books from a male's point of view, so it was different for me, but I really liked Chase. He seemed human, flawed, and that appealed to me. I think the characters were very developed, but Chase was by far my favorite.
