Lords of Atlantis #1

Seduced by the Sea Lord

Rate this book
Tattooed mer-shifters are climbing out of the secret depths to claim their soul mates and save their race!
Determined warlord Torun cannot wait to claim Lucy, who mistook him for a shipwreck survivor and pulled his injured body from the ocean. All his instincts tell him she is his soul mate. Now she must join with him and give him a child.

Lucy can’t believe the words coming out of this hard-bodied male. He insists her destiny is to become a mermaid queen and mother to his future children. The one thing “destiny” forgot to mention was that Lucy’s a broke divorcee who can’t even have a child. It’s really too bad, because his gorgeous lips are all too kissable, and she’d love to see his iridescent gold tattoos moving as he flexed those broad, hard pectorals under the water...

But Torun’s in more immediate danger than a bad bump to the head, and Lucy is the only one who can save him. Their choices will either save the entire race of mermen, or destroy it forever.

This is a complete novel with a happy ending. Also, it features steamy mer shifter love scenes, underwater gun fights, and a giant female octopus named Mr. Huggles. Fall in love with these men of the sea!

Seduced by the Sea Lord was a unique, refreshing, and different read. I’ve not had the pleasure of read Ms. Night nor have I picked up a merman book before. Both the author and concept where new to me.

Hot Sexy Warrior Mermen. Oh My!!

The start was good, but a little slow. It took some time for me to get into the book. As for the characters they aren’t overly complicated. Ms. Night does a good job of explaining her mermen, throwing in a little about Atlantis and what it once was, and how the council is set on their old ways when others can see that that way is killing them and they need to change.

Torun is a merman and Lucy is a modern day women.

Torun defies the Council and he has to work on convincing Lucy that she is his. If not the punishment is harsh. As for Lucy she does a lot of protesting in her head, why this or that etc. It got a little old, but not to over powering to make me dislike her. It reminding me of all women. We like to over think things. I really liked that Torun can sense Lucy’s feelings and faces them head on instead of like Lucy’s ex-husband who dropped her as soon as she was a burden. The romance was sweet. The love scenes are warm and gentle, not over powering.

One of my favorite parts in this story are the guardians. They are just fun, adorable, and wonderful. If I lived under the sea, I’d want one as a friend/pet.

Their where two things that made me go hmm. One scene was close to the beginning that had me going, oh no are they going to sleep together even though they don’t know each other? Please no, but thankfully the author didn’t do this and gives our hot merman Torun a chance to convince Lucy that she is his destined woman. The other thing that I found strange is that Lucy leaves her Sea Opel with one of her interns on her boat when they go back out sea. This intern is a stranger and well her ex stole the first one, so why trust this person you don’t know? It felt opposite of what her character would have done.

Seduced by the Sea Lord focusing on the mythology and the rebuilding of the heroine’s confidence. Its also has a little conflict, a little action, and a bunch of sexy mermen.

Rated: 3 Stars

Hmm. This was new. Never read a merman before.

While the plot was interesting enough, the writing and the world-building could definitely use some work. It was a little confusing cause I can't decide whether the underwater world is supposed to be all high tech like from Aquaman or like a caveman tribal behind the times version and that's just one of the inconsistencies.

But I also realize that in books like these, the first book is either the strongest-the world building at it's highest from the get-go-or the weakest-with the world building developing with each book-could be either.

So overview, I feel like the book leaves much to be desired especially since it hasn't convinced me to read the next book but at the same time I strangely really wanna read Aya's book (i.e book three) and Starla has a Dragon series and that word alone is my crack and I'm so weak.
But I also have Ilona Andrews' On the Edge series lined up and Gosh Darn It! The woes of a reader.

Cute! I liked the idea of a mer coming to find his mate to save his kingdom, I’m not sure if that’s the reason he was caught but it happened. So a little hard to follow at times but still a good story! I did enjoy the ending, tied things up.

Okay so... I don't think Mermen do it for me lol. I knew not to take this book seriously and I didn't. I just wanted some ridiculous fun and I got some of that. It was ridiculous and entertaining that way but after a while, I lost interest. I wish I could have cared for the characters or the plot a bit more but it was alright overall. I enjoyed the silliness. I don't think I'll be reading more from this series but who knows, maybe I'll change my mind when the right challenge task comes along.

Seduced by the sea lord follows Torun, a merman warlord and Lucy, a human girl who mistook him for a dead body. She brought him back up from the sea and miraculously, he survived. Even better than that, apparently the light he sees in her means she's supposed to be his mate, his "mermaid queen". They'll have children, yada yada yada, you know it.

Lucy, however, doesn't believe him at first (who would?) but she finds it okay to make out with him in her boat lmao. Anyway, she's had a bad break up with her ex-husband and is insecure about her being able to have children. After a while, she got on my nerve. She was a bit too needy to my taste.

Not a big fan of stories centered about getting pregnant. It was a little ick how the FMC kept thinking of the MMCs body when he was hurt and unconscious.

I love paranormal books. It can be witches, vampires, dragons, shifters, merpeople, etc. it doesn't matter what the category is I enjoy paranormal. Whenever I find an author who writes paranormal they automatically get a 2 point star just because it takes a lot of imagination and it takes a lot of focus to write a paranormal romance book.

This book started off really annoying to me. My 2 star rating was slowly turning into a 1 star very quickly. Lucy drove me nuts. From their very first encounter to about a little over half of the book I wanted to strangle her.

Torun was super sweet and the way that he ended up dealing with her is just saintly. He kept having to reassure her and if he said something she would automatically think that he's lying. I understand that her ex-husband is straight trash however, he did not have anything to gain by telling her that she is amazing and he would stick by her no matter what happens. He even left his world for hers and yet she still felt as though she is not enough. Again, I can understand the feeling of not being enough however it got to the point where Lucy just needed a smack in the face to let her know that even though he is tolerant of you right now continue this self-deprecating behavior is not going to end well.

There was a lot of drama within the story. There was split factions, crazy neurotic ex-husbands, and worthless family.

I have to admit that I really did enjoy this book. I will continue this series because I'm interested in all of the women that are supposed to join this dating site that Lucy is supposed to set up whenever that is. Also want to know if Lucy and Torun ever get to have their fry.

I liked Torun and Lucy. She was a little bit whiny with her self-loathing and pity Me self-talk. It was overdone for me and lasted too long, especially with everything that she felt about Torun and how he cared for her. I get the pain but it was overdone. Torun was a huge cream-puff and I really liked the supportive role he played for Lucy. I am looking forward to reading the next book. Recommended read.

Seduced by the Sea Lord (Lords of Atlantis Book 1) Kindle Edition
by Starla Night
I received a copy directly from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Seduced by the Sea Lord is a sweet paranormal romance that rides just below the boiling point, focusing more on the mythology and the rebuilding of the heroine's, Lucy, well being and confidence. Lucy is a deep sea diver, a sort of wet suited Lara Croft. After her greatest find, a large Sea Opal, her husband takes off with the Opal. There are other reasons that will be revealed but nary a spoiler will I give!
Torun is a rebel Mer Warrior on the hunt for his Queen. He is acting against the counsel and perhaps the king as he searches for this women who will be his better half. She will make him complete, revitalize his city and give him the child he desperately wants.
That's an awful lot to put on a recent divorcee' who has put her very last cent into a leaky boat to try to once again find the source of the Sea Opals. She finds Torun caught on her anchor, and finding that he is alive, drags him on board to save him completely. And so the adventure begins.
The writing is sweet, almost a beginner's romance novel, with nary a kink or a blind fold to be seen. There are love scenes, not sex scenes. Warm and gentle lovemaking between two meant for each other character.
Unfortunately, the females characters, from Lucy to all by Aya, can't quite fill the CFC (complete female character) shoes. When they are alone, in a group of just the girls, we have a less graphic Sex in the City gab fest about the male lead instead of anything intellectual. Aya, on the other hand, is all business. I would truly love to see Aya as the next conquest.
The male characters also seem less than complete, they have two gears fighting and making love, except for the slimy Blake, Lucy's ex-husband. He also has theft and murder in his arsenal.
My favorite part or is it parts of the story are the guardians. Funny, adorable and wonderful pets with high IQ's. If I lived under the sea, I'd want Mr. Huggles for my own.
Safe enough for a NA to read but sweet enough for a jaded romance reader to fall for.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

This AMAZINGLY FRESH, UNIQUE, FAIRY-TALE LIKE ROMANCE IS A TRUE WINNER! I am utterly and completely infatuated with these mermen! My favorite Disney movie growing up was The Little Mermaid and to have such a story that puts a unique twist on such a classic perked me right up, but what I got was something even MORE special. To say Torun is one of a kind merman and hero is putting it lightly. He AMAZED me with his loyalty and protectiveness, his caring, and his love to Lucy. Every time he comforted her with her "self-injuries" just had me melting and sighing and every well descriptive thing, from the way the mermen looked, to the way the Sea Opals were made for the Mr. Huggles and Lassie and the castle and place where the mermen resided had me captivated in a way I haven't felt. I read many paranormal romances but this one is something extraordinary and special and truly exceptional!

Starla Night won me over COMPLETELY with this STUNNING series and Seduced By The Sea charmed and delighted me in a way I am having a truly difficult time explaining. I desire SO MANY MORE of these books because Miss Night's writing, characters, amazing imaginative plot is 100% AWESOME and I want to explore MORE Lords Of Atlantis! This book is one I HIGHLY suggest you RUN to get and I am HIGHLY confidant, once you start you will dive into this book and won't want to leave. Seriously, one of the BEST books I have read...EVER!

Seduced By The Sea gets a STUPENDOUS FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its brilliant and sweet, and charming....god, I SO want my own merman!

Down by the Sea......

Lucy has reached rock bottom after her ex-husband cheated her out of everything, she is reduced to operating what used to be a lucrative business to a rinky tink boat that is forever spewing oil. But Lucy hasn't lost her spirit to travel the waters and fish in the hopes of maybe getting lucky again. When she hooks a body on her anchor, her rescuing instincts come to the forefront, not knowing that she is the one that's going to be rescued not from drowning either.

Torun dares to defy his people by looking for a queen out of water, being a Mer-Warrior it is highly treasonous, but he must save his people from a sure death. Being rescued by a human defies all reason, but when her light calls to him he realizes that it's either return to the depths and endure the ultimate punishment to a merman even a human man for that matter, or stay with the human who would be his queen on land, or sea... Which will he choose?

I tried to get into this book. It was real good in the beginning but then it stalled out for me. It almost seemed as if the author was just getting lazy as the story went on and tried to tie up the loose ends without the detail that was used in the first half. It was rushed and unpolished.

Also, there were some disprecancies in the timeline. When they came back to the surface and her ex said she had been declared dead and they had her funeral last week.? Come on, everyone knows its takes years to be legally declared dead. The timeline was inconsistent in that. I can suspend my belief but that was asking too much even from me.

Her character was too self-decrecating for my tastes and I got tired of it when she didn’t grow. He had to constantly assure her and I don’t mind that in a character. As long as it’s not overused and the character grows out of it. But she didn’t.

Fantastic Series - I just cant get enough. After reading these 4 stories, I'm an addicting fan. I look forward to the next installments. It's a given that I love mermaid stories but these stories have a built history behind them from not only the previous books but the author gives a insight to their past that is just heart breaking and in her stories they get redemption in their soul searching truth with their true mates.

Where to even start with this one. Wow. It was a wild ride and a lot of disappointment.

I was sad to see how much was wrapped up in body shaming and shame over infertility. I really dislike these kinds of things in a book. I was really hoping for something fun and silly, but I just ended up reading something that ended up being a drag.

The beginning started off a little rocky for me, and read very rushed for me. Once the story got under the sea and into Torun's world, it started gelling just right for me.

The mer world is incredible! I can't wait to explore it more in the rest of the series.

Let me start off by saying I was so excited to read this book. The concept seems so good to me, but the delivery was not good. I am giving this 2 stars just because there were a few parts I did like and the writing was not bad. As I started the story, it seemed interesting. I felt the passion between the characters but that is where it ended. I felt that Lucy was so Whiny. If I heard her say one more time she could not have kids I was going to hit her. She could not kiss a man without freezing because she could not get pregnant. It felt very unrealistic. I understand depression and insecurity but come on. People live everyday with these issues and I have never seen someone that can not move past it. I understand that was the basis of the book but I felt the author drilled it past home. It became redundant and made me cringe towards the end of the book. I loved Toran. He is what made me continue to read this book. The way he treated her and continued to make her light burn brighter was so sweet but the way the story went made me wish he would find someone else. As the story continued, it became more cringe worth with the way his people dishonor traitors. It was so unbelievable and harsh. I had maybe 50 pages left and all I wanted to do was throw the book and kick myself for continuing. Since I was so close to the end I continued and it did not improve. There were parts of the book that did not make sense and I had parts I would skim because the world building was not very good in parts. It would have been better to have more world building about the underwater world, but instead it was thrown at us when he was declared a traitor. I would have preferred more of the backstory then 150 pages of Lucy whining about not being able to conceive. When I finally got to the end, I was even madder because I read all about how important a Fry would be to not have an epilogue that she was pregnant. I ended the book shaking my head not believing I paid for this book or read it. I did follow up with the authors note to see her bonus story. I read that right after and that bonus story showed where she got pregnant. I am not sure why that part was not included into the storyline and made a bonus story. I feel the author should finish the story and it would have lead us better to the next book in a series. I am so disappointed because I was so excited about this book and series but I can not bring myself to try the other books even though they received better review.

Seduced by the Sea Lord was a sweet and romantic story of a young women named Lucy, who has endured disappointment and loss in her life but is now trying to pick up the pieces of her life and move forward. And a sexy alpha male, Warlord Toren, who happens to be a merman, looking for a modern human bride to help save his species, even though it goes against the Councils of Mer's wishes. With no brides to be had from the special island, there hasn't been new "young fry" born in a long time. Without new generations, there is no future, and the mer will certainly die off. Toren will not let that happen. But will he be able to convince a human woman to leave her world behind to save a species she never knew existed?

I found the story to have a good plot, and the world building was done well. I loved the supporting characters, Mr. Huggles and Lassie (I want a Lassie in my life). I did find Lucy's character a little aggravating at times, especially at first with all the constant self-doubt and "woe is me" attitude, but as the story progressed she did show growth and start to find her confidence, which I enjoyed. I really enjoyed Toren's character, he was persistent and knew what he wanted (that being Lucy) and he wasn't going to give up in the face of her unrelenting self-doubt and insistence that he needed to choose someone else. He was also so positive and always encouraging her to accept herself. It was refreshing. I also liked how he saw her for her and didn't share her feelings about her body. He saw past any imperfections that she may have had and saw what she couldn't see in herself. It was a refreshing change of pace from the books I usually read; to have an sexy alpha who is said to be this beautiful perfect being and he is encouraging a women who is described as not having that "perfect flawless body" to accept herself and that she is perfect the way she is. It was sweet and definitely swoon-worthy. I would definitely recommend this book for other readers. It was a good read.

FRESH, UNIQUE, & OH SO DELIGHTFUL !!!
Title: Seduced by the Sea Lord
Series: Lords of Atlantis
Author: Stara Night
Designation: Full-Length Standalone, NO Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Four Delightfully Entertaining Stars****
This was my first time reading the work of Starla Night but I can truthfully say, it won't be my last! I saw this featured as a recommendation in a newsletter from one of my favorite authors and was immediately drawn to the cover so I decided to check it out. I read the blurb along with the free sample on Amazon and it really piqued my interest. I made my purchase and dove in... and what a delightful surprise! I truly enjoyed it! Seduced by the Sea Lord is a unique and exciting new twist on shifters and paranormal romance featuring hot, swoon-worthy mer-shifter males who are desperately in need of human females to mate and continue their lineage. And when they find the human female whose light shines for them, she will become their queen. You know, like the old expression goes, a man is king of his castle(home)... Well, in mer warrior society, every male's underwater home is his castle and his mate becomes his queen. I love it! I always wanted to be a queen and what better way than to become the mate of a sexy, panty-melting hot merman with a hot body covered in special tattoo markings that will make any woman drool! OMG! They were somewhat similar to cavemen, never having been exposed to modern human society and they were just the cat's meow! The story was romantic, unique, imaginative, fast-paced, easy to follow and well crafted. The narrative was beautifully written in the third person with easily identifiable his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, handsome warlord mer warrior Torum and beautiful divorced treasure seeker and diver Lucy Shaw. I was immediately smitten with both Torum and Lucy. Coming from two very different worlds, their initial meeting and subsequent interaction was nothing short of hilarious but it was also mesmerizing as well as heartbreaking. Although I truly loved the unique premise and overall storyarc for this sexy romp, it's the well-developed cast of fascinating characters who truly stole my heart. But I also loved the dialogue! It was smart, snappy, well-executed, and absolutely hilarious. I always enjoy great dialogue and in this story, I found myself completely captivated, laughing nonstop throughout the entire book. Torum found himself having to adapt to the unfamiliar and very puzzling ways of the human world, trying to understand human society, the customs as well as language, and especially the expressions and idioms used in conversation. But Lucy also found herself struggling to understand Torum and the ways of his underwater world. It was beyond entertaining. But it wasn't all fun and giggles, there's also a mother-load of conflict and heartache liberally laced with action and adventure. This book has it all! If you're in the market for a unique and very imaginative story with engaging characters and beautifully detailed world building and filled to the brim with pulse-pounding danger, heartbreaking drama, spine-tingling action, exhilarating adventure, agonizing angst, dreamy romance and steamy passion, then this book is for you! No spoilers from me but I will say this... Sexy mer warlord warrior from a predominantly male underwater world desperately yearning for his very own queen to give him a small fry (baby...lol...)-check! Beautiful, divorced, very broke and unemployed underwater diver who lost absolutely everything including her home, money, self-confidence along with any hope of ever having a child because of her selfish, unfaithful ex-husband and is once again searching for sea opals-check! Danger, drama, angst, lies, deceit, betrayal and enemies above and below the surface of the ocean-check! Dangerous sea creature guardians (named Mr Huggles and Lassie...lol...)-check! Sweet romance, undeniable passion, steamy sex and a few miracles to boot-You betcha! That and a whole lot more!

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! So, if I loved it so much, then why only 4 stars? First, there were a few minor hiccups but nothing that distracted me from the story. But my main criticism is the ending. There's an epilogue to the story that was not included in the book. In order to receive it, you have to sign up for Night's newsletter. I had already planned to subscribe but I don't like being forced to jump through hoops to get something which should have been included as part of the book. An author should feel confident in her work, allowing it to draw in new fans without having to dangle an epilogue as an incentive or enticement. I already paid for the book and took the time to download it. I should not have to spend more of my time downloading another file. Sorry, but that's just my opinion. And sadly, I see more and more writers resorting to this practice. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy, dreamy love scenes! Who knew underwater sex could be so hot? Apparently, Starla Night and she expressed it exceptionally well in this story. And fyi, either Night did her homework and research extremely well or she's a diver in real life because her information and terminology were dead-on accurate. Will I read this author again? Abso-freakin-lutely! I can hardly wait to get Sacrificed to the Sea Lord, Book Two of the series, in my hot little hands! Thankfully, I don't have long to wait; it releases June 6, 2017. As a matter of fact, I've already preordered my copy! I'm not sure if Starla Night is a new author or this is just a new pen name but regardless, I'm a fan. After I finished this book, I raced to her web page and signed up for her newsletter so I'll never miss a new release! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Once I started reading, I could not stop! Before I even finished the first chapter, I was hopelessly and completely enthralled, riveted to my ereader, my heart fluttering in my chest while the time flew as quickly as the pages. I started the book late one evening and fell asleep with my Kindle still in my hands. I awakened the next morning still sitting up in bed (my favorite place to read), with my poor ereader dead as a door nail. I was so anxious to see what happened, I couldn't wait for my Kindle to recharge so I just plugged it in and kept reading! lol... Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
