Easy reading style. Really helped me envision what to expect on a cycling trip through parts of the Baltic—including the Curonian Spit and some of the Kaliningrad Oblast. I was definitely not as adventurous as the author since I was part of a guided bike tour. However, Wood's book helped build the thrill of biking through this more rustic part of Europe. Highly recommended.

The passion embedded in the words of author Barry D. Wood impacted, if not alterted my life over 40 years ago when he was my college professor. Wow - what an adventure that was - full of insights not only on the terrain but also on the human geography and history - in this country we dont appreciate peoples sense of national identity and that who you identify as isn't not necessarily related to where you live. The generosity of stranger to a traveler across this vast area was heartening
