There are ugly truths
and pretty lies.
When I lost them
I chose neither.
I wrapped myself in silence.
My husband, my best friend, became a stranger who gave up.

He moved next door, and everything changed.
You think you know this story,
but you don't.
Be careful what you ask for because the answer may not come the way you think.

Be advised: I don't usually read reviews for books before I read them unless the book I'm interested in has a lot of low stars. This could be an exception for a lot of readers, in fact, I'm not sure I would have read it if I had known. (view spoiler)

I seriously do not know how to right this review and I feel really bad that nothing I can say will make my views shine in a positive light. There is nothing wrong with this book, Portia Moore is a phenomenal writer and I devoured her if I Break series. This book just wasn't for me at all and I really wanted to love it but couldn't. Without saying to much the story subject matter just isn't my personal beliefs or morals and it's not something I would have picked up if I knew what the jist/moral o ...more

Ok, wow, I've had a hard time writing this review.

First things first: the book is not bad. I can see many people liking it and giving it very good rating. Portia's writing is as good as always, after all. But it is just not my cup of tea.

From the very beginning, I found Bryce way too cheesy. Seriously, if someone did to me what Bryce did to Chassidy (the whole "I fell in love with your voice so I need to find you even if it's the last th

Couldn't stand the selfish, bitchy hypocrite of a heroine! Bryce deserved so much better than what he got with her and I wish he'd divorced her and moved on. After everything she went through, I should've felt some sympathy for her, but I didn't.

And I didn't even get to the God/angel part!

I don't think author is for me.

I'm not sure how to feel about this book.

Chassidy's life is falling apart. After losing her second child, she's decided to hold her pain inside and grieve alone. In doing so, she pushes her husband away and their marriage reaches a turning point that she isn't sure they can come back from. Add in a tempting agent and mysterious neighbor and you have a recipe for disastrous decision-making.

This was quite a story. One I had a lot of mixed feelings about. You might see that taboo word cheating BUT don't make a judgement about this one. Its different, very different.

This book is so hard to rate, while there was nothing wrong with the book, I feel quite mislead by the cover and the synopsis. I got to 68% and was like...What??
I can guarantee that you won't see the plot twist coming.

I wish this book had kept to its substance because I was totally drawn in by the anguish.
I would have preferred the reveal left to the imagination but still I was hanging on every word.

This is a very different story from what I thought from the title. I was upset with the main female character at first but....As I read more and more, I thought I had it figured out but, BAM !!! The story resonated with me in so many ways. Keep an open mind and you'll see the message is conquers all !!! Thank you Portia for sharing a powerful message.

Today, I played a game I dubbed "Kindle Roulette." See, I download books daily, many, between 3 and 5 usually. I snag them up when they go on sale or as freebies, stocking my kindle with stories the way doomsday prepers stash canned goods and water bottles. This means that I have thousands of unread books waiting for my attention, and a terrible inability to make decisions, ever. Kindle Roulette helps. Quick swipe-scroll with my eyes closed and

Honestly, WOWWWWW. I kind of had an inkling of what was going to happen but that was as we got close to the end. I wasn't expecting that huge twist! But that doesn't mean that I didn't like it. I absolutely loved it. It made me cry, the heartache and the pain, a sort of special kind of twist only Portia Moore could pull off. This story will test you. It will ruin you and drive you insane. This book! 😵😍 So many emotions, and I loved them all! When Portia asked me to review this, I knew as soon as I read the synopsis I had to read this one. This was a book that had a pretty crazy plot twist. It was very unexpected, but entertaining. This book talks to all different things, including but not limited to: love ( I mean, of course), trust, faith, honesty, and family. There are difficult issues to overcome, and subjects not always comfortably discussed for all people, but it's a real page turner. I had a hard time putting it down.

A new standalone romance from the author of the fabulous If I Break series. This is completely unrelated to any of her previous books.

Chassidy is struggling with life. Following a double tragedy her life is falling apart at the seams and she is unable to stop it. She knows that she is pushing the love of her life away, but she feels so helpless under the grey cloud that she now lives under. One thing she does know is that the love she has for Bryce still remains, but is it eno

I have to say this book blow me away I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book. It is different from Portia’s other books but just as good, once I started I couldn’t put it down. I will say a bit about the story but try not give anything away.

I've been a fan of Portia Moore for a while now. I LOVED her If I Break series but I was worried I wouldn't feel as strongly about new characters and a new series. Boy was I wrong!! She managed once again to write a book that I was sucked into and couldn't wait to finish.

Portia Moore has such a unique way of making you think you have the story all figured out and then throwing an unbelievable twist at you. This book is full of heartbreak that will absolutely make you cry. She approaches the subj

I don't presume to know or understand what Chassidy was going through since I have not been in her shoes before although it's clear how isolating and devastating it can be. So I can comprehend how it challenges a marriage, even with the strongest of bonds. I was initially engaged in Chassidy and Bryce's story, wondering how far things would have to go so far under before it was time to pick up the pieces and start over. Chassidy and Bryce alternate in their POVs, with Chassidy being the main nar ...more

What a read! I love this author she is such a great writer but she will always give you a twist somewhere that you did not expect. This book was no different. I love Bryce! He is every woman's dream. He puts his heart out there to Cas and she just keeps turning him away. I know that she is broken but I kept finding myself really disliking her for this. He was trying maybe not as hard as he should/could have but he is man. I just really wanted to shake some sense into her. Then the twist comes!! ...more

I dived straight into this,
One I loved the cover,
Two, I loved the blurb,
Three, It's Portia Moore.

I've read previous books by this author and loved them, the heartwarming, emotional stories, so understandably I dove in.

This isn't my usual kind of read, it probably won't be your usual kind of read. This book will get so many different reactions.

I've been on a rollercoaster ride with these characters and I've never felt this befo
