Sometimes youre moving forward. Sometimes youre running in place. Sometimes youre sprinting 90 miles an hour in what feels like the wrong direction. Sometimes youre stuck. Sometimes youre driving with the road spanning out in front of you in all its endless wonder, and youre at a loss of where youre really going. Sometimes you just close your eyes and trust.

Somewhere on a Highway made me feel lost, and at the same time, made it seem like I found myself. Some poems touched me. Reading several parts brought tears in my eyes because oh my god, it was amazing.

As an 18 year old girl, I feel too old, I feel like I haven't achieved anything yet. I feel pressured, and thinking about the future makes me afraid.

This poetry collection gave out a lot of realizations. I'm eighteen and there are things that I am yet to experience, I just have to be brave. I

Marisa brings light to everything and everyone she encounters. Humble, graceful, loving, encouraging, understanding, magical, and supportive are all words I would use to describe Marisa and her work. Some of my favorite lines from 'Somewhere On A Highway' are...

Maybe you leave because you long to know. Maybe you leave not because of longing but because you must. Or maybe you leave simply to find the answers youve held inside of you all along.

Several of these poems touched me. I am a big Mary Oliver fan and have several of her books on my shelf and maybe a half dozen by other poets and Mary Donnelly's book is going on that shelf of keepers, on poetry books that I re-read and refer to...that inspire me to make a piece of art or share with a friend. "Run Wild With Me", "Sixteen", and "This You Must Learn Young" were among my favorites. I I hope that she continues to write poetry of this caliber.

I found out about this book a few hours ago and decided to read it right away because it seemed like what I needed to read right now. It wasn't at first; I thought it was just another poetry book, nothing special, do a shot every time the author references I-35, kinda thing. I was wrong.

It was genuinely touching and I enjoyed it more as it went on, and when I saw that the final poem was the last poem I was truly disappointed that there wasn't one more.

Through her poetry, Marisa beautifully captures a young adult's yearning for something more. Marisa explores the full range of emotions - from restlessness, uncertainty, and urgency, to love, loss, introspection, and fulfillment. Somewhere On A Highway is relatable and full of deja vu glimpses into our own pasts, no matter how far along the highway we are in life.

I am not a huge poetry fan, but this collection blew me away. It's absolutely amazing and haunting. The feelings this work stirred in my heart shocked me and brought me to tears several times. If you love poetry this is a MUST-- if you do not-- you MUST give this one a read! "Iowa Stars" and "Run Wild with Me" are worth the entire book. Simply Amazing.
