I love to help individuals and organizations evolve and change. It’s my life’s work. I do it by generating practical insights about learning, change and transformation from research, study, and experience. Then I share them with people who want to influence change in themselves and their organizations. I have put these ideas into consulting, articles, apps, courses, books, speeches hoping that the ideas and practices spread and multiply, making life and organizations better and committed to a better future for our human family.

For a half-century, I’ve worked in partnership with large, global organizations and with government entities and Universities as they faced turbulent times. I’ve lived in and worked on change challenges in South Africa before, during and after the end of Apartheid. I've held leadership roles in the Minneapolis United Way, the Association for Talent Development, the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation, the Instructional Systems Association, and the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame. I’ve received awards from these and other institutions.

In this later stage of my life, I am focusing on sharing practical tips and insights to accelerate personal learning and change, drawing on an integrated and science-based approach I call SMART Learning 4.0. Learning is a meta-capability -- a skill and mindset that affects all skills. It is the vital force for ensuring that in work and in life, people everywhere can and will co-evolve with technology and become the best humans they can be -- successfully riding the waves of our turbulent times. For all of us, our learning needs a significant upgrade to deal with today's and tomorrow's challenges. Technology is getting smarter, so can we!

And, because I feel it is imperative to be active in today's turbulent and fast changing society, I am also writing about formal institutional power -- how it benefits and how it corrupts. We are at a turning point in society where ethical and stewarding leadership is sorely needed. We all share in the responsibility to ensure we only support leaders who will help make the future better -- and, if we are leaders, to be aware of and responsible for our power as we create the conditions and institutions that we are leaving to our children.
