Saving lives is who they are

Risking his life for others is all in a day's work for Coast Guard petty officer Jay Johnston. Until he comes to the rescue of Mia Frasier after her small plane goes down. Maybe it's because the empathetic blue-eyed vet wants to save the world just as passionately as Jay wants to create a safe haven for his five younger siblings, but there'

Two wounded hearts collide and make for a wonderful "feel-good" romance! Both successful in their careers of helping others, Jay and Mia both have scars on their hearts and minds from the childhoods they led that they try to cover up and prosper from ... but in meeting each other, each has to face their fear of admitting their feelings and figuring out if they can grow enough in their love for each other to be able to face their demons and conquer them once and for all. Great characters, an awes ...more

Heart warming!

If you're looking for a sweet and romantic love story, then Carol Ross’s charming book Summer at the Shore, will be perfect for you. It’s a quick, cute romance, worth checking right away! You won’t be disappointed! I really enjoyed reading it! You can't help but fall in love with this book!

It tells the story of two independent characters, Jay, a Coast Guard Officer and Mia, a veterinarian. Both are so busy, that they don’t have time to fall in love and start a new relationship,

I LOVED THIS STORY!! This book has to be one of my favorite Harlequin Heartwarmings. Carol Ross never ceases to amaze me. The details she brings to this story (as well as her others) is mightily impressive. Not only has she done the research needed to bring authenticity to the inner-workings of the Coast Guard, but it's the minute and simple details that many might not even notice, that amaze me. Carol Ross does not gloss over anything in her writing. Rather than being mundane or unneces

Coast Guard officer Jay Johnston has lots going on, what with trying to keep his siblings safe, especially when the two teens come to live with him unexpectedly. When he helps rescue Mia Frasier, a local veterinarian, he is convinced to foster an injured dog, even though he doesn't consider himself a dog person. In the course of the story, his younger brother gets a job at the vet clinic, too, and his younger sister begins to settle in at the local high school. But the attraction he feels for Mi ...more

Another amazing story by Carol. She sure knows how to grasp the readers attention with a life and death situation. This story truly touched my heart. It was a story that though it was fiction it truly could be someone's life situations. I love the chemistry between Jay and Mia. They are both fighters who have worked hard to get where they are today. Mia is a veterinarian who loves to save animals from cruelty. Jay is in the Coast Guard and assists in saving life's when they are in the ocean. Thi ...more
This was a wonderfully heartwarming story.
Jay is in the Coast Guard and he rescues veterinarian Mia and her mother from a plane crash. He ends up volunteering to help her with her cat rescue project in town and things definitely click between them. But they both have reasons for not wanting to be in a relationship with each other.
Mia is a very likable character. She works hard and really cares about both animals and people. Jay has two sides, the brave rescuer side, and a very soft side for anim

I love the story of Jay and Mia. In this story you learn about the meaning of family thru a man who's had a distinctional family but has made it work. Thanks to a grandmother who gave him normal for awhile. He trys to hide it by being care free until he meets Mia. Mia has never had a father's love and never known why. These 2 teach you the meaning of falling love and learning to have a give and take in a relationship. There are secrets in the beginning but its a time of learning to trust and to ...more

Mia and Jay's story is amazing. Jay is part of the Coast Guard team that save Mia, her mom and the pilot after a plane crash. Mia and Jay's attraction is instant. However, Jay has his reasons for not getting involved with women, as does Mia have her reasons for not getting involved with military men. But, as the saying goes, the heart wants what the heart wants. I just love it when love wins!

Summer at the Shore started off perilous, jolting me to attention and glueing me to its pages. It mellowed into a steady pace with a menagerie of loving animals, dysfunctional family dynamics, a mystery and a very satisfying HEA.

I never go wrong with a Heartwarming, sweet romance book. They’re mellowing and never fail to leave me feeling comforted and in anticipation of my next one.

This was a well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. A touching story where people handle situations differently but in the end works out for everyone. A book you don't want to put down.
