Wait till Your Vampire Gets Home by Michele Bardsley is the fourth book in the Broken Heart paranormal romance series. The book takes place in Broken Heart, Oklahoma. Libby Monroe, a paranormal investigator, has gone to the town due to rumors of odd things happening there. What she finds are vampires, lycanthropes, zombies, and more. She also finds widower Ralph Genessa, a vampire that has twin toddlers. However, the town seems like a war zone. What is happening and why?

Both Libby and Ralph are likeable characters. However, their almost instant attraction for each other was entirely too fast. Libby seemed very immature and ill prepared as well for someone that has been investigating paranormal activity for years. Ralph’s character, while likeable, didn’t get a chance to shine in this story line. There are characters from earlier books in the series that lend a connectivity and flow as well as a few new ones that provide conflict.

Overall, this was a light and fun read, but the romance was too fast and overwhelmed the suspense and action. In addition, the humor seemed a little bland.

Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and are not biased in any way. Publication date was November 4, 2008.

Fun light read but the writing got me a little. While entertaining at first, the constant cliff hangers off every chapter made it hard for me to take seriously.

When I found the first book from The Broken Heart Series not only the title but cover art caught my eye right away. I purchased all of the books the store had at the time. Oh and I failed to mention it was a Friday evening.... I read until my eye wouldn't stay open, laughed out loud, at one point my Husband started to make snarky remarks. I had a book in hand everything where that weekend. By Early Monday morning all five had been read and I had maybe two hours of sleep before work. They are by far the funniest, action packed, romantic and interesting books I have read in years.... they open up a whole new wolrld that was hidden deep inside. Now I just get antsy while waiting on a new book in a series of many or read many of Michele's suggested reads from her group :) just love it and would live in this town if I could. Thank you Michele for your wonderful mind and talent to express great dreams fantisies with some romantic get it on too. Your the best!

I just love Broken Heart series. "Wait Till Your Vampire Gets Home" was action packed right from the get go and funny as can be. We are getting to know the charters a little better in each book and new paranormal creatures are showing up.
I could not stop laughing when Libby meet Queen Patsy and tried to say the greeting that Patrick told her to say "most royal grand potentate." She just keepet stumbling over the words.

It's been a while since I read any of the books in this series so I had kind of forgotten the characters, but I still fell into place with the story quite well. I really enjoyed Libby and Ralph's characters. The add-in of dragons into this book was different from the usual vampire/werewolf paranormal romance books I'm used to reading so that was a nice change, though I still love my vamps the best. This was a really fun, quick read and I'm looking forward to see what happens next with the characters in the book. There were a lot of funny moments in this book and the Jeff Strand book reference was a very nice touch made by Bardsley in the book!

Silly, snarky, and altogether entertaining, "Wait till Your Vampire Gets Home" is Michele Bardsley's latest about Broken Heart, OK. Broken Heart is a paranormal town. When some infected vampires got loose and attacked 11 townspeople, the 'Constortium' bought the town, encouraged the normals to move and helped the new vampires transition into their new life and new jobs. Since then, things just keep getting weirder and now Bardsley has added dragons to the mix!

If you like your paranormal romance with liberal doses of sarcasm and laugh out loud humor, this is one series you don't want to miss.

This is a nice easy read. Lots of action happening with dragons attacking the town. If you're looking for something deep and earth moving probably not what your looking for but for a light reading it's entertaining. A quirky town and entertaining characters. Libby and Ralph were both sweet and I liked that both focused so much on his twin boys. The little boys were pretty cute too. I liked the idea of a paranormal research group stumbling onto the town. Everything stayed pretty much on the surface though. Would have been nice if the two main characters were given a bit more depth. Seemed like as soon as I started the book it was already over with a happy ending for all of the good guys.

This book was awful. I hate books where the main character thinks that they are the absolute best thing on the planet because they are pure. Anyone who has sex is BAD. BAD I TELL YOU. I'm pure and virginal. I don't eat meat because I'm a good person. Shut up already. If all of this information had been casually introduced, I could have stomached it. However, it's drilled into you over, and over again. How pure and perfect she is. It was awful.

AWFUL!

Sadly, this book isn't worth your time. No character development; too much stress (someone gets killed or almost killed in every chapter); predictable plot.

Try another vampire series if vampires are what you want. Suggestions: the True Blood series by Charlaine Harris; the Blood series by Tanya Huff; or classics such as Yarbro's St. Germaine series or Saberhagen's The Holmes/Dracula Files.

Laugh out loud funny! Great story. The action was a little choppy and jarring in a few places, had trouble keeping track of who was doing what, but a great book.

I was wondering what she was going to do with Ralph and I like what she did. I normally find the "paranormal investigator" thing (the bigfoot hunters and the like) and annoyance in books at times. But I think she did a good job with it in this one. It was a bit worrisome at first to say the least for me.
It may be meanish, but I found the idea of vegan Libby being turned into a dragon who wanted meat ... freaking hilarious. I loved how she had mental comments about the stinky stuff people chose to wear when they wore leather. It is hard to think of someone as a badass when they're wearing something that "smells."
You know from previous books that those characters are actually badass, but her comments let you poke a little fun at them for the moment.
I find the idea of a soul shifter pretty intriguing and look forward to what she does with her in later books in the series, even though my library fails at having anymore of her books.
As a side note regarding glamor.... Yeah it is cool, but scary as all hell. You get to see that in book 8 or 9. It is cool if it works for you, but not when it is you it is working on.
I hated how Ralph's in laws were going to take his kids ... stupid entitled jerkfaces. That was when glamor was used in a good way.

In spirit of December, the month I reserve for mood reading, and drowning in silly, sugary , romantic fluff , I picked up this book under the pressure of strict ultimatum from my husband ( I was dragging him in a  book sale for last 4 hours and he finally said if I don’t make up my mind in 5 mins about what all I want to take with me from the huge pile of shortlisted books , he will bill the huge pile itself 😝).

So I picked this one ( along with other 15 chosen ones) , with this quirky title and a sleazy cover to go , it looked like perfect December read.

Our paranormal investigator Libby finds herself in the midst of Broken Heart an equivalent of ‘Forks’ which is the hub of all things paranormal.

And she ‘suddenly’ falls in love with a Vampire , ‘suddenly’ becomes a dragon and ‘suddenly’ becomes pregnant!

It was entertaining the way one by one bizarre events were being thrown at you. Anything which happened had the most ridiculous logic to it.

My favorite was the logic behind Libby becoming a shape shifting dragon.

Have you heard of things which are so bad that they are good? The book was like that.

Definitely the silliest thing I have ever read.

I am a fan of weird and crazy and over the top BUT this book was too much for me.
Some parts were so mind-numbing and I rolled my eyes to the point of pain.
The cover make no sense and the title makes even less sense to me...
So much stuff happens in a very short span of time and it prevents the reader to take a real interest into the characters and the story. The characters actions and ideas just seemed illogical and I could not relate to any of them - bunch of middle aged to millennial characters that have a tendency to act completely self absorbed and adolescent like - from expression to clothing choices.
All other the comments that come to mine would sound very harsh and because that I will refrain from expressing them.
This book was a gift and as such I will treasure it.
The rest of the series looks to be in the same tone and I will probably skip on it all together.

I like very much that there was a change in the style of this book a little bit compares to the first 3. However I was disappointed that the book wasn't from Ralph's point of view being he is the the only single father in Broken Heart.

Compared to other vampire books I've read, this is my favorite. I felt sad because I wasn't able to read the first three installments to have a proper background of the story. Nevertheless, I still enjoy reading this.

ive read the entire broken heart series (yes the whole thing) and this one remains my FAVORITE! its the only book where we get a "normal" main character who then gets thrust into the world of paranormals and it read so much more authentically

The title was a little misleading but I still enjoyed it. Not as much domestic hijinks as I thought there would be. Will probably check out other books from the series sometime
