The Alpha lives for the hunt...
Driven by instinct, an Alpha shifter recognizes his fated mate from one scent, one touch. He'll pursue his woman, regardless of the cost, and anyone else would be smart to get out of his way. He won't stop until he takes possession of his prize.
Although the hunter doesn't need convincing, his mate certainly does. The Alpha will have to prove himself as a lover and convince his woman that he plays for keeps.
I only read two out of twelve stories in this book and I enjoyed both stories.
Taken Mate by Sam Crescent 5 Stars
It's a good short story about Micah and Hayley.
She felt someone's watching her and when she got home, Micah, the man she met a couple weeks ago when she went on vacation to Forest Palm was there.
He's a wolf shifter and an alpha. It took him weeks before he found her. He told her she's his mate and she was rejecting him so he acted on instinct and kidnapped her.
She didn't give into him that easily and I loved how devoted he was to her.
There's a nice little epilogue
SAFETY:
The Hunt by Doris O'Connor 5 Stars
Another great story about Raphael and Aubrey.
He's a wolf and the alpha of their pack. His pack was on the hunt and he found out a rival pack was hunting too. He scented their prey as his mate. An injured doe trying to run from his rival pack. He attacked them and saved her.
Aubrey is a doe. She's a teacher in a small village. She's his mate but she knows his pack won't approve of her because an alpha needs a strong female by his side and she thinks she's weak.
And yes, his pack didn't approve at first but she proved to them she's right for him.
If you love shifters and the search for their mates then you have to read Owned by the Alpha. It’s the newest anthology from Evernight Publishing and it’s amazing! Seriously, I couldn’t even begin to tell you which story is my favorite because all of them are tied for first.
Evernight Publishing has put out two anthologies with the same theme and that is being taken by an Alpha male. A shifter in most cases, (I did not read the M/M version so I can only speak for the F/M version) But in both books they managed to snag some truly incredible authors.
To say that Evernight has a plethora of talent in their stables is an understatement at best, just the talent in the 12 author anthology I read alone proves it. Some of my favorite authors were in this anthology, Doris O’Connor, Sam Crescent, Lily Harlem, Maia Dylan and Elena Kincaid. Incidentally, their stories also stood out in this amazing anthology.
I also enjoyed the rest, especially Stacey Espino andElyzabeth M. VaLey’s contributions. My absolute favorite though, would be The Hunt by Doris O’Connor. Raphael is a wolf shifter who finds his mate in a doe shifter named Aubrey. He saves her but finds out mating is not always easy, especially when a rival is involved. My runner-up story is Taken Mate by Sam Crescent about a wolf shifter who after abducting his mate, just can’t quite get the courting part right.
All in all, every story in this book is a hit and deserves 5 Stars!
Owned by the alpha-Most of the stories are short and good. Taken Mate-h was a virgin. Finders Keepers by Stacey Espino has a little bit of om drama, but it was fixed quickly, h ex cheated on her the whole time they were together. The Hunt by Doris O'Connor- Separated for a month. Little ow drama, but it didn't mess up the relationship at all. Sweet little epilogue. Fated to the Razorback Demon by Maia Dylan- I think this one is my favorite story. It has a little more violence in it, but the H/h were perfect together. h was a virgin. Running Home by Michelle Graham-for safety gang, this one has h being raped, but it isn't detailed.
Owned by the Alpha anthology has twelve stories all MF in nature. All are really good well rounded stories. I loved this one. I felt this is the perfect way to be introduced to all of these authors. I know I found a couple I had not read before. I will be looking for more of their books in the future. In this anthology there is the following stories and authors Scent of Destiny by Rose Wulf Taken Mate by Sam Crescent Finders Keepers by Stacey Espino The Hunt by Doris O’Connor Alpha at Altitude by Lily Harlem Fated to the Razorback Demon by Maia Dylan Running Home by Michelle Graham Alpha’s Sunshine by Elyzabeth M. VaLey Checkmate by Wren Michaels Frozen Heart by Beth D. Carter Wolf Hunter by Elena Kincaid Returning to the Coyote by Roberta Winchester
As always I will pick out a couple to talk about here in the review. My first one is done in alternating POV. Scent of Destiny by Rose Wulf. This is my first time reading anything by Ms. Wulf and I really enjoyed the characters she created. Willa had decided to change her own destiny. She is tired of people thinking of her as boring, she wants some excitement. So taking her fate into her own hands she goes to a biker bar to change things up. I liked her very much she is spunky, brave, and passionate all rolled into one incredible character. Ryker sweeps her off her feet. He is hot, sexy, and totally male. He sees the real beauty inside of her. The chemistry is off the charts with these two. Sometimes when you walk on the wild side you find true love waiting for you. My next pick in this anthology is The Hunt by Doris O'Connor, while I felt this story was rushed I loved the originality in this story. I have never heard too much about deer shifters and I loved Ms. Connor's take on them. Raphael is an alpha male wolf shifter, and his mate is Aubrey a cute little deer shifter. But can an alpha be accepted mated to prey? I liked the dynamics of this story. I wished it was flushed out a tad more but over all very great read. Owned by the Alpha anthology has a little bit for every MF lover. I found action, adventure, and lots of love. I will be looking for more from these great authors in the future. If you love anthologies I highly recommend this one. You will not be disappointed.
This is very entertaining, hot and short reads. I am not finished reading all the books yet, but I am getting there :) My rating so far.
Scent of Destiny by Rose Wulf - 3.5 stars Taken Mate by Sam Cresent - 5 stars Finders Keepers - 5 stars The Hunt by Doris O'Connor - 5 stars Alpha at Altitude by Lily Hardem - 5 stars Fated to the Razorback Demon by Maia Dylan - 4 stars Running Home by Michelle Graham - 3.5 stars
Most of the stories were mediocre at best, playing on lust as the driving factor to get the couple together. There were almost never any common interests or goals to make the reader believe the couple was ever fated. I did find a new author though, as one story stood out as five star worthy, and that was “Fated to the Razorback Demon", by Maia Dylan.
Good. Most of these books where good there was only one or two I didn't pertcualy like but the thing that irritated me the most was how there where no blurbs for the actual books and you had to guess what they where about by the titles.
A lot of these were 2s for me. Just okay, nothing special or riveting. I liked Elena Kincaid's Wolf Hunter - it was a 3. I liked the chance to sample a lot of authors' works. Some works were pretty experimental.
Fated to the Razorback Demon by Maia Dylan A short engaging read, Fated to the Razorback Demon has great characters and equally as impressive storyline. I look forward to reading more from this author
A cute (yes I said and mean cute) story by Doris O’Connor. Out for the hunt Raphael gave his wolf the chance to get out and play and let loose. When he comes across a deer that is being surrounded by a rebel pack of wolves his first instinct is to protect, then he gets a whiff and he immediately knows, this little deer is his mate. Aubrey quickly realizes that this wolf, the Alpha, is her mate but she’s not strong or powerful how could she ever be right for him. When she sees him retreat from her, she knows, he will never accept her. But mates belong together and Raphael will do anything to make sure that Aubrey, and his pack know that.
