Ewan Campbell once thought he had it all – he was a rising star in the real estate field, popular with his peers, and engaged to his employer’s cousin, the shy and quiet little Marti Marlowe.
A heartbeat later, he was alone—shattered, confused and suicidal. Why had Marti walked away from him?
Years later, in another place and a new chapter of Ewan’s life, fate brings them face to face again.
They start building a friendship, but Ewan wants more. He wants Marti as his wife, while she seems to prefer their current status as friends.
Can he convince her that taking another chance at their failed future will be the start of the best part of their lives?

This is the first novel I've read from this author, and it won't be the last, even though romance is not a genre I've ever been drawn to. But this novel managed to pull me in.
We have Ewan and Marti, and the story is simply about how they met, split up, and then met again, going through the ups and downs of what many people go through in the course of their lives. The dialogue is realistic, the romance is solidly presented--not forced or dumbly presented as in many other romance novels, and the characters, while flawed, are still likeable. The pace is steady, which is how it should be, with no sudden happenings or hastily wrapped up conclusions.
Another great book by this author. Ewan and Marti have a past and now they are in each other's company again Ewan needs to know why Marti walked away from him with out explaining why but will he get the answers that he has wanted for a long time or not. There are twists and turns along the way and that is what makes this book a real page turner. V J Allison is a brilliant author and writer and her books are worth reading as she takes you in from the first page and you have to see what will happen next. I definitly recommend this book and others by this author as they are definitly worth reading and you will not be disappointed.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I was left wanting to have a second book about Ewan and Martie!!!!
A first love is hard to get over. Very hard to get over and the fact that they got their second chance is so amazing. It wasn't easy getting there but their chemistry is not one to be denied!
Settle in for laughs, cries and yelling because this book, will make you have all the feels!
This a beautifully told story about the second chance love story of Ewan and Marti. It’s been six years since Ewan has seen Marti, but he’s never forgotten her. Shannon, his current girlfriend, is a real witch, when they join his friends at a bar. As we read this book, we learn why Shannon was such a witch, especially to a Marti. We also learn what happened in the past to make Marti leave Ewan. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say I’m so happy I found this wonderful book. You will love these characters and what the family does for each other.

Romance isn't my regular genre. But occasionally I step out of my regular haunts to try something else. Stricken was a pleasant surprise! It has a real story that's not cheesey. It has plot twist I never saw coming. I got to know the characters and could see them as real life people, with personalities that arent plastic. The adult scenes were romantic and done with taste, not exaggerated or stupid. There were surprises, sadness, happiness, etc, and a nice touch of mystery! A nicely done adult read. I love exploring new authors and Indies. This one was a win for me!
This is the story of Marti and Ewan. She left him once and now that she’s back he’s not going to let her go again. I enjoyed this entertaining second chance romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A well written second chance story with a very good storyline. I was not putting this book down until I had finished reading it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is Ewan and Marti's second chance romance after six long years of being apart. She broke up with him and he never knew why but when they meet again the chemistry if still there. There are a few twists in the story that is unexpected which makes it intriguing and I loved it.
Well written and enjoyable to read, I was struck by the mystery surrounding their breakup. The author wove this mystery into the story seamlessly as we begin to formulate our own thoughts about the characters as they are presented in the story. A few twists and turns made the story even more enjoyable to read. I enjoyed reading this book.
I actually read this right when it came out. ( Sorry VJ :( ) and enjoyed it greatly! I am especially proud to be VJ's friend and cheerleader and can honestly say that it's not every day one sees a new author hit the ground running. I encourage any curious reader to check this one out.
