I am a native of Liberty, Kentucky. I am happily married to my husband, Jeff, and mom to two wonderful children, Isaiah and Grace Anna. After Grace Anna's birth, my plans drastically changed, I went from being a veteran science teacher to an advocate for my daughter. I continue to advocate for all children with disabilities as well as being involved in charities for our veterans. Watching my daughter live in joy while facing incredible obstacles in life has changed the woman I have become. Life is so much better when you live in joy. I live daily relying on God to guide my path to be the best person I can be.

I am beyond excited to be reviewing a copy of Grace Anna Sings through Broadstreet Publishers and there partnership with Netgalley:
For a few years now I have been following Grace Anna’s stories, her personality, her Charisma, her determination and her faith all shine through.
From the beginning Grace Anna proved to be a little warrior. She has endured surgeries, and health scares but through it all her Families Faith and her fighting Spirit would prove to be the strength they needed.
At sixteen month Grace Anna who then could barely say a three word sentence began signing, because her Mom had often sang to her when she needed comfort.
Music helped Grace Anna through pain, she learned to sing songs by Mercy Me and Natalie Grant.
Grace Anna became so popular, her determined spirit inspiring many that she was soon invited to Katie with Katie Couric.
Venues such as Facebook proved to help bring awareness to Grace Anna’s condition Conradi-Hunnermann syndrome a rare form dwarfism, but some took advantage of this, and some were cruel.
Thank you Angela Ray Rodgers for sharing your little girl with the world, she has inspired so many, myself included.
This book was recently published, written by a mother with a little girl (the eponymous Grace Anna) with the same medical condition that I have: Conradi Hunermann Syndrome. I knew about three-quarters of the stories already since I follow this family on social media, but I'm glad I purchased the book. I read it in one day. It's well-written and honest, but with an upbeat, positive tone. I had two thoughts reading this: wow, am I lucky my Conradi's isn't nearly as severe (I've had one semi-major surgical procedure; I've always considered my asthma more limiting than my short stature, my nemesis Top Shelf notwithstanding). But there were a lot of moments where I was thinking "yes, this is me as well!" (hatred for loud noises, a love for singing, singing at a young age, hearing difficulties at times, a stubborn streak- just ask my mother!). The book doesn't just focus on Grace Anna- it includes the whole family. It's an honest look, as I said, about a family's struggles and triumphs with a child with serious medical needs, but also goes into other tragedies and obstacles the family faced and overcame. I know it's cliche, but yes, I laughed, I cried and ultimately glad I bought this (Merry Christmas to me!) I'm probably a bit biased, since I already knew the family (online) and share a rare medical condition with Grace Anna, but ah well. I enjoyed it.
What a great story about a family that has learned to go through so many losses to not allow this young ladys' health issues to stop them from giving her the best life. They have found a community of people on line that love their daughter as much as they do. Grace Anna is such a special young lady and although, her life is not the life that many would want for their child, she has learned to see the joy in life and share it with anyone that is willing to listen. Her mom and dad have learned that she can be the brightest star in the room- even though life is so much different than expected with her birth. We could all learn some very good lessons from Grace Anna and her family. Keep singing Grace Anna!!
Angela Ray Rodgers is a gifted writer with a skill of ending each chapter with a cliffhanger that makes setting the book aside almost impossible. The story of Grace Anna is miraculous and encouraging. Some may think this is a story about a handicapped child, but it is actually about choosing how you want to live your life, and working every day to grow stronger, practice persistence and trust in God. Do yourself a favor and buy this book because you do not want to miss the opportunity to hear this beautiful story.
As a mother of a child with special health challenges, I felt a heart connection to Angela. Grace Anna stole my heart with her singing many years ago and to hear her story from her mother’s experience was such a blessing. Grace Anna is a special young lady who has given joy in a time when it is much needed. And her mother is a shining example of unconditional love.
"Grace Anna’s journey through life will inspire you to be the best you can be no matter your circumstances. Her resilient spirit has helped her overcome obstacles in life which will move you to make the choice to live, not just exist. The faith of her family to believe in the impossible will inspire you to take the steps to make your life better"
This book was so not I was expecting, and Grace Anna's spirit shone through the whole story from the beautiful sunny yellow of her dress on the cover to the words, thoughts and love inside. It is a wonderful testament to having faith and seeing the positives in the world and enjoying life.
What a precious inspiring story through the innocence and joy of a child. Grace Anna and her family have become warriors and possess a strength that only God could give. This story will have you crying and laughing....and filled with hope and joy. Those who love reading of special needs' children & their families and those who love inspirational true stories will fall in love with this book and find it hard to put it down. Sing to the Lord a new song! I am rating this book 5 stars and give it the highest recommendation.
