This book was written expressly to teach secondary students how the American healthcare system works. I found it informative, if shallow. But then, it was written for high school students so it's not surprising that I wanted still more information. The story is engaging. I think it's not quite as informative enough to be worth a bunch of high schoolers reading it for healthcare system info, perhaps. I came away with an oversimplified, murky idea of how things work in our healthcare system. But... was it more than I knew before? I guess so. At least, it did introduce perspectives that I never thought about before. Now I want more info. And, I have to add that it didn't seem weighted towards any one point of view more than another. Many "informational" books are really someone's argument for a certain point of view. Hm... I guess I'm still undecided about whether this book really serves its avowed purpose.
