The American group of ability users known as the -Guild- appears, led by the wealthy Francis Scott Fitzgerald, who has his sights set on the Armed Detective Agency! Can Agency president Fukuzawa stop him...!? Not if Guild member Lucy Montgomery and can help it!
Additional information: Characters of this manga, are named after real authors and since they are gifted with supernatural powers, their abilities are those authors' famous works. (gotta admit Asagiri is a genius!)
I enjoyed this volume so much! new characters are introduced and the interesting part is that they are famous American authors whose works we've read or heard about! and I'm also excited about the big war between the three organizations!
P.S: that bonus story about Chuuya and Dazai was a blessing! 😍
+4 "Wealth is a nightmare. With each coveted thing we buy. We lose a thing we dream about. In the end the entire world…will become of smoke rising out of a burnt pile of dry leaves. Tedious. That’s why, Steinbeick. Right now my world is filled to the brim with light".
(Gritos internos).
Lo siento, he entrado en modo fangirleo. Ha sido demasiado este tomo. No por el argumento sino QUIÉNES salen.
H.P. Lovecraft, huh? That should be ... interesting ... (there better be a Cthulhu attack somewhere.)
I'm kind of in love with the Detective Agency and this series as a whole.
:3
Also, random aside: there's mention of Rocinante in this since Steinbeck shows up briefly, and I just read the first issue of The Expanse graphic novel (and I've been telling myself I'll finish the first novel ... soon.) Just kind of an odd coincidence for this to come up twice on the same day!
*Reread 12/6/2021* Manga Akutagawa is so pretty tbh.
I can't believe it's been almost a full year since I last read these?? Getting back into it is making me realize how much I missed this world. Idky the fact that everyone is named after an author makes me so excited, but it does. I just love all the detail that goes into it. Also the care that the artist takes in the art. Like the whole the darker the eyes, the more consumed by darkness the character is, is such a cool detail. I love that.
*Original Review 2/10/2020* I'm loving the art more and more as I read on. I'm going through this slowly, but I'm loving it. I also really need to rewatch the show.
I love the postscripts!!!! And Harukawa sensei explaining about the eyes and how they show the characters' true nature... I'll definitely keep an eye on that!
There's one scene that is not included in the anime (which is during the attack of the Guild's base by Port Mafia), but I think maybe it'll be really horrifying if they adapted it. Reading that part in the manga is enough to send a chill down my spine...
Alright maybe I will write a review one day, but please don't you ever get me started with all the giggling and fangirl's exclaiming I have done for all these Bungō Stray Dogs fanfics (Edagawa Rampo/Edgar Allan Poe is a thing, mind you. XD)
Harukawa must be obsessed with Akutagawa. there's no other explanation for the way he looks always!! also. Fukuzawa my beloved is ready to throw hands the moment someone dares lay the tip of a single finger on his employees. I love him he's the father ever
I'm waiting for the plot to get more interesting... I don't think that I'm overly attached to any characters I've met so far but we'll see. Something slightly unexpected happened, and now I'm curious to see what is going happen next.
first of all, what a way to end a volume, Akutagawa 🤭✨
what I really love is the dialogue, the tension between Koyo and Dazai (them being in Port Mafia together once), likeee dude, you can feel the history underneath all the interactions.
also, The Guild, is definitely a force you’ve look out for and looking at Fitzgerald, I’ll be like “LOOK AT WHAT POWER AND MONEY CAN DRIVE YOU TO BE SOMETHING ELSE”
I also love that Armed Detective Agency, despite knowing who’s on the top of power’s hierarchy, you can acknowledge each one of their role when it comes to strategy.
Of course, Port Mafia, as usual, they’re just straight up vicious (read: Kaji)
