If you're a fan of the Runes series then this book is a definite read for you.
Do you remember Syn? The hot nubian reaper that we met in Eirik & Celestia's books and Goddess. Did you find yourself wanting to know more about him like I did? Well your in luck as Fated, the first book in the Mystic Academy series, is about him and a girl called Lana.
Now that is all the spoilers you'll get from me about this book, and that's not really a spoiler as all that information is in the blurb! I will tell you though how much I enjoyed this book. I find that with all of Ednah Walters books, when I start reading them it's as though a spell is being weaved over me. I feel like I'm right there in the story as the main character, and it was no different in this book as I felt all the emotions that Lana was feeling as if they were my own.
Ednah Walters has introduced another couple of characters into her Runes world that I want to know more about. I feel like she could keep on writing this series forever and I'd never get bored as she manages to keep me entertained with new details, whilst still keeping the overall thread of her main story. Although this book is part of the wider Runes world and is the start of more to come in the Mystic Academy stories, there's still that connection to her very first book and I feel like I just can't get enough of it. Also, no other author has managed to give me so many book boyfriends just from one series and she's just added another one to my book boyfriend harem! Let me tell you, Syn is one hot reaper. Wow, I was fighting with myself whilst reading this about whether I should be jealous of Lana or happy for her. I think I've managed to settle somewhere in the middle of these feelings but Syn has managed to knock Torin of the top of my Runes men.
This book is a five star read from me and I can't wait for the next installment in this world that I've fallen in love with.

Its story about A Girl name Lana Longhorn with Power of Touch that made people to reveal their deepest, darkest secrets and two sibling. Because of their gift they did not fit anywhere and see as freak. Then they adopted by immortal and they tell them that what they are and make them immortal.
Her world fall apart when her immortal parents gone missing without explanation, Started having problem with rune, their gift not working properly and money. In all of this one day she meet Syn Shabaka with invitation of A Mystic Academy (A school for Witch, Immortal, gifted… children ran by Indo-Valkyrie, Indo-Grimnirs, Immortal). He is the first person she’s ever met who is immune to her gift, and the first person to offer her a way to be with other gifted people like her and learn to control. The offer tempts her, but what her adopted family tell her it was opposite of what Syn tell her. Meeting Syn, he light A spark in her heart and make her believe that she can have normal life and love in her life. I really enjoyed reading this story.

Hold on to UR heart Lana & Syn are about to steal it in signature Ednah Walters style! They are my new fave couple, Syn is the match that lights Lana's fire!!! I'm head over heels in love with Fated this is a magical start to The Mystic Academy series! The story is full of mystery, discovery, epic romance N deliciously funny wordplay that completely draws U in!
I'm totally jonesing for my next fix can't wait to read more of this awesome new series!!!

I'm really sad to discover that the author of this book has passed away. My deepest condolences. I really enjoyed her books. Runes series is one of the series I always enjoy even after rereading it for 3 rd time. And I'm deeply sad that we won't be getting any new books from this author. I was really looking forward to reading to more books from her many series. May her soul rest in peace.

I loved seeing another dimension of the Runes universe. We already knew what a "bad-A" Syn was from previous books. Getting to see a more tender, flirtatious side of him was so refreshing. I loved seeing his tender side with Lana. Lana is quite the little "bad-A" herself. It takes a while to really understand what her "gift" is, but once she does, the change her is magical! (Pun intended) It's hard not to gush over this story without adding spoilers so I'll just say this...READ this story!! And if you haven't read any or ALL the Runes series you need to get busy! You will fall in love with Ednah Walters and the way she transports you to a universe filled with characters we all wish we could be, know and marry.

This is a great short story that gives us closure to baby Hannah's story as well as seeing Syn find love. The saddest part of this story is that this is where I ran out of books in this world and discovered Ms Walters had passed unexpectedly. Mystic Academy had a lot of promise that looks like it will go unfulfilled. So sorry for her family and the world for losing this incredibly imaginative lady.

I started this book a little melancholy. I love the characters I know, I'm invested in their future. Do I want to start on someone new? Will I become as attached to these characters as I am with the others? Yes. Yeses all around. Within the first few sentences Ednah's writing style comes to life and draws you in. Reminding me of why I'm so attached to the Runes Universe. And the lovely surprise of adding Syn, one of our favorite reapers is icing on the cake.
Lana wasn't always a Longhorn and neither was her brother Wes, or her sister Talia. They were adopted by immortals because of their gifts and were later turned themselves. But, after the addition of another gifted child to their family, Lana's parents go MIA with the youngest. And they're missing at the worst possible time since all three children's powers are on the fritz. To top it off, their Runes aren't lasting any longer and there's a certain Reaper who keeps turning up.
Lana has to battle with her romantic feelings toward Syn since her entire life she's been taught that they need to hide from and protect each other against Reapers. And right now, as the oldest, she's all her family has.
But after Lana becomes more educated in the Immortal world she begins to question if Reapers are really the ones you can trust, or if in the end, it's her adopted parents. She feels she has to make the choice for her siblings if Mystic Academy might be the right move for them, or if she should keep its existence to herself to protect them from potential danger due to the way they became Immortal.
Fated is an amazing door to the Runes Universe. And true to Ednah's amazing writing style, it co-mingles with the other characters we love so much. Reminding us of past instances just enough to put a smile on your face if you've read the other books, but not enough to give anything away. Bravo Ednah. Another amazing tome under your belt!

Ednah Walters wrote another amazing story about Lana and her siblings. Lana has been told a certain way by her adoptive parents but when life goes on she starts to learn that there is more to it than that. She meets Syn and whether or not Lana realizes it but her world is about to change. Syn is a very sexy reaper from Hel that challenges her at every turn and she doesn’t like to be challenged. This way an amazing story.
This first book of the Mystic Academy stories and it was a heck of a start. I can’t wait to read the next one. The characters are very strong and I would recommend this to everyone.

A tease leaving you wanting more
This is a side story to the Runes and Gods series about Syn meeting his true love but she doesn't quite know it yet. This is cool because it tells about the misconceptions the Immortals have about the Grimnrs and Valkyries. Syn finds this woman and her siblings who are not registered as immortal and makes sure they get an invitation to join the special school for immortals and gifted mortals and ends up saving them since they didn't know the rules for their artavo. This was definitely too short and I can't wait for more!

I just loved this first part of A Mystic Academy Novella so much! I love and cherish all Runes series books and this is a spin of and it started perfectly with Fated! I'm in love with Ednah's beautiful mind and creativity and can not wait for another part! I'm glad we get to know Syn more and we are getting new characters to love too!Lana is sweet but full of fire too which is my favourite type of heroine!

I loved Syn from the Runes series in general, yet now I get to see another side of him. Something that we've never seen before! Him and Lana make a great couple and he balances her completely. Together they are strong! I'm glad to be able to meet new characters like Lana and her family. I look forward to seeing more of them!

Read this book in half a day and was sad that it ended. I want more!!!!! I am so in love with Syn!!!! Lana is amazing!!! Their passion is sizzling for sure. Hot!!!!!! I love how this author weaves each story into the next. I'm always captivated by her books. Waiting on the next one!!!

Short and wonderfully written
This was short story that is apart of the Runes universe, a series that i truly love. I liked getting to know Lana and watching her heart open up to someone after all she has been through. Cant wait to read some of the other kindle Runes Universe books!

It is so neat to that Ednah has a story to each of her Characters. This story helps close up an unknown from the Goddess about baby Hannah. This incredible school for the immortals, is really what they say it will be? Is everything that Lana grew up learning a lie? How do reapers end up apart of Lana's life?

Great Story!
I chose 5 stars because the plot of a small eclectic family to stay strong even with absent parents was captivating. There was never a dull moment and the writing was so real. I love Edna Walters stories. This book could have so many follow up stories or stories within stories. Great for any age reader.

I have to admit I didn't love Lana to begin with but I got to know her and she is really an amazing person. Like I love her now. I absolutely LOVE Syn. He is certainly swoon worthy. I really enjoyed reading this story. Another amazing addition to the Runes world

This book is amazing . i was hesitant to read it at first since i was the attached to the runes series but once i started reading it i could not let go. Now i just want to know when the 2nd book of this series will come out

An interesting look into the unique world of immortals and reapers. This story is a perfect fit in the YA category. There is teenage woes, a few mysteries and enough action to keep your nose pleasantly buried in the pages. This author created a very entertaining work truly worth spending an afternoon with. The characters are very believable for the ages they portray. This voluntary review is based against an advance copy.
