B.J. Daniels is one of the best cowboy-mystery writers I have read. Unfortunately, this book, and the whole series, doesn't live up to that. I just don't have much positive to say about "Rough Rider". The plot was predictable, the H/h didn't make me believe in their romance, what there was of it and the resolution to the whole 25-year old kidnapping was a fizzle.

Boone McGraw travels to Butte, Montana, to follow a new lead provided to his family from private investigator, Hank Knight. But when he arrives, he discovers that Hank has been killed in a hit-and-run accident. Hank's PI partner is C.J. West, and she's determined to find Hank's killer. She doesn't want to believe that Hank was killed over his knowledge about what really happened with the McGraw kidnapping 25 years prior, but it begins to look more and more like that and she and Boone follow the ...more

This is the third and concluding story in this romantic suspense trilogy and it is important to read the earlier two books to really appreciate this as the stories relate events in chronological order. They are all concerned with the search for the McGraw fraternal twins who were only six months old when they were kidnapped twenty-five years ago. Their father believes they are still alive and keeps them in the news every anniversary of their disappearance. This yea

Rough Rider is the third and final installment in B.J. Daniels' Whitehorse, Montana: The McGraw Kidnapping trilogy, and I've been thoroughly enjoying this series so far. If this is the first book in the series you're reading, let me warn you that it's complicated, and although this novel can be read as a standalone, I suggest you start the beginning, to fully understand how the characters relate to one another and how the mystery of the kidnapping of the 6-month-old McGraw twins has driven the p ...more

Boone McGraw and C.J. Knight are on a collision course and don't know it. Both are looking for answers; C.J. to the murder of her partner and Boone hoping to find his sister kidnapped twenty-five years ago. It takes some time but their two investigations come together into one as C.J. learns about secrets her partner kept from her and someone from the past tries to kill both Boone and C.J. A nice ending to the series but there are still characters who need their story. This was a three book seri ...more

The fast-paced, action-packed, romantic conclusion to The McGraw Kidnapping Trilogy!

“His lips brushed over hers. She let out a sigh of relief and joy and pleasure. He pulled her tighter against him, taking her mouth with his own. She melted into him and the kiss, heart pounding, desire sparking along her nerve endings like a string of lit dynamite.”

Rough Rider by B.J. Daniels is the consummate finale to the author’s McGraw Kidnapping trilogy. It’s the perfect blend of titillating suspense and r

Rough Rider sucks you in to the mystery from page one. A search for a kidnapped child decades later, a PI whose death is sketchy, and so much more to dive right into.

Boone wants nothing more than to solve the mystery of his siblings kidnapping, with part of the story out there, and a few hints at more, he's following up on the latest lead, hoping to lead to his sister or who took her and bring some closure to his father. I really loved the loyalty Boone possesses and his dedication to closing t

ROUGH RIDER brings the Whitehorse, Montana: The McGraw Kidnappings series to a satisfying conclusion. Boone and C.J. make an… interesting and unique couple since for the most part there was stalking and bullying on his part, and evasion and lies on her end of things. They each had their reasons for their actions, but it did get them off to a rocky start. Add in some danger, a mystery to finally solve and C. J.’s world turning upside down as she learns things abo

This is the third book in the McGraw Twins kidnapping story. Boone is going to follow up on a possible lead that can bring him to missing Jessie Rose. The only problem is when he gets there the PI he is supposed to meet has been killed and he is left to deal with his partner CJ. She is only concerned with finding her partners killer and doesn’t think it has anything to do with the McGraws until things start happening. This story just gets better and you can’t put it down. It has a great mystery ...more

This was just the right roads that led to a eventful ending to one of the most intriguing mysteries in awhile. The one brother that was left at home that had not been stroke by love's arrow yet but also available to see what was what with the PI. What Boone does get is a surprise in the shape of his partner CJ. One left to find was the where abouts of his missing sister he will see this to the end wherever that leads. A satisfying end of another series of books in Whitehorse, Montana by BJ Daniels. I was a little surprised by the lack of "tension" and fast-paced suspense in this final book but that just shows you what I usually expect from BJ's books! There's nothing wrong with a romance/mystery that is less fast-paced once in awhile! I liked Boone, the youngest McGraw brother, who went to Butte, Montana to check out a lead on his sister's kidnapping and meets CJ, who is the partner of the private eye (Hank) ...more

(view spoiler)

Rough Rider by B.J. Daniels is the third installment in the Whitehorse, Montana McGraw Kidnapping series. I have enjoyed this series and getting to know the McGraw family. Boone and C.J. are no different. They each play a special part in seeing this series come together. I loved the intense story line of trying to find out who committed a 25 year old crime.

This is a book about a cold case that has been reopened in the beginning of the series. Boone and C.J. are not only trying to find out who k

This is the third book I've read by this author and in this series and I find myself wondering if the author's other Whitehorse books have more romance. For a romantic intrigue branded book, this series lacks on the romance. Of the three, this is probably the most romantic, but it's still not great. The characters are so good that I feel there's a serious missed opportunity there. I do enjoy reading them; I'm just left wanting more. The mystery is great and I enjoyed the series just hate the mis ...more

Boone joins up with his partner C.J.Knight to find the answers they both seek, Hank's death and the kidnapping seem to be connected.
The pair manage to get their answers, but not without danger....and falling in love with each other.
A thoroughly enjoyable and fast paced read.

The Book itself was an all around good read. I had trouble staying with it though meaning it wasn't one I could read all the way through in one sitting. I think the reason behind it was I couldn't passed the main characters. I felt the roles were good, but there was just something about the characters I just can't describe. It might just be me because I am not used to this type of read though. For this being my first cowboy read with a strong female character I did enjoy it which is why I have t ...more

This Boone's story within the McGraw kidnapping series. Mystery ends are tied up and romances blossom. A bit of a surprise with CJ and Jesse Rose. Would like to have seen more interaction with the twin's mother. The series started so strong with her scene in the first book, She is only mentioned in passing here. Other than that, a very good series.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

HEA ending

This being the last book in the series didn't disappoint. Held the suspense, drama, and mystery as the rest of the books. This book moved very fast with little development of the main characters, while solving the mystery. Some past characters were mentioned that might make you stop and remember there roles. Overall a good series could be a stand alone but I recommend reading all 3 books.

I received a copy of Rough Rider by B.J. Daniels from NetGalley. What a great book. It has a wonderful story line of two babies who were kidnapped 25 years prior. With Nikki writing a book about the story behind the kidnapping it really brought a lot of things to light. The characters were great. The setting sounded so nice with the ranch and winter. I really want to read more about the MCGRAW FAMILY! Wonderful read. A nice cowboy mystery!

J. discover who's behind the murder and the kidnapping?

Read all the previous books in this series and by far, this was my favorite because I love the chemistry & connection of C.J. & Boone. They were a great couple. For anyone who is familiar with the "Intrigue" series, you know that it comes heavy on the suspense & intrigue and less on the romance and while I would have loved a little more on that, it is still well written and kept me entertained. Thank you NetGalley.

this is the conclusion to the 3 book series about the McGraw twins kidnapping and is to be released October 17, 2017. you can read these books each as stand along but I wouldnt recommend it...each book is a story in itself about an older brother and the lady he falls for as well as many twists and turns and has other events wound throughout. definitely intriguing!!! If you like to read about coboys and Montana, this is for you! Edge of your seat reading all the way to the end!!

This is the last book in the McGraw kidnapping saga and it was delightful. Boone McGraw decided to follow up on a lead from a PI in Butte, Montana concerning his missing sister. Although the PI had been killed because someone thought he knew too much, his assistant C.J. Knight reluctantly helped Boone with his search because she felt it might discover who had killed her partner Hank. This is an easy read and one you need to read to close out the story.
