I'm a mother, wife, homemaker, pet lover, teacher, student, reader, writer, drinker of tea & wine (depending on the time of day) and sleep-deprived dreamer. I live in Syracuse, NY, with my husband, Doug (also a writer with books available on Amazon), our three children and too many furred & feathered friends to list!
This was a good mystery in the series. I will admit this was one of the few times I wasn't actually surprised by who did it. This time Faith and her friends are accused of murder simply because they were the competition in the baking challenge. Needless to say, this baking challenge caused more problems than it was worth.
I have read three of this series and find it very good. I enjoy how much the characters are developing as the series continues. Good mystery and a quick read.
Another great story with Faith, Laura and even Grandma Bessie. Faith and Laura enter a baking contest and it is down to the final part of the contest. That is when their competitor is found dead, and the police think Faith and Laura had something to do with it! Not only this, they also have to keep the tea room going. Can Faith, Laura, and Grandma Bessie prove their innocence? Read the book to find out. I received ARC of this book. The review is entirely of my own choosing.
“The truth will out. It always does.” If only Deputy Valdez hadn’t interrupted the lesson with the allergy free baking class. Since I have food allergies, I was as excited as the children to know that there were so many alternatives. THEN a knock on the door sounded!!! I guess that was better than another murder. Oh, no… There are a lot of things going on in this story. Enjoy and keep your cupcake close by.
Another great cozy mystery by Nancy and Cyra - these two are a Dynamite writing team! As usual you struggle along with Faith and the infuriating and consistently wrong Detective Valdez to figure out who the murderer is. And you will be surprised at who and why. Can't wait to read the next one - The Banana Flip Safari Trip!
Nancy McGovern does it again! This is another story that can be a stand-alone mystery. Lots of surprises and I has to read to the end to truly understand how and why of the killer. Awesome story with twists. Characters are easy to identify with and mayhem works in excellently!
This story involves a baking competition and murder. There is also a lovely picnic area with a waterfall. The story didn't have as much baking in it as I thought it would have with it being about a baking competition. I was partially right about the ending, but I was expecting something a little different. I like the happy ending, though.
4.5 stars. This is my favorite of the series so far. How Faith revealed who did it was definitely not what I was expecting, but it was good. I had suspicions of who did it and I was half right this time. I love that this series isn’t overly predictable which can unfortunately be common in short cozy mysteries. Faith and Nathan are adorable and I want to see more of them
Poor Faith, she can't catch a break from murder. It seems ahead is always a suspect but ends up solving the murder. grandma Bessie was in this one more. I really am enjoying these books!
Brilliant! Can the contest carry on with two deaths? This series just gets better and better. Both girls are growing into their roles and their male counterparts are a great foil. The story is easy to read and the final outcome is unexpected. Recommended.
O my goodness!!! This book was so good!!! It was kind of a long book, at least it felt like it. The ending was so surprising and had a happily ever after. Stayed up super late to finish.
I really like this series. It's a light read, you get drawn it but it's not drawn out. The characters are fun, no bad language. Can't wait for the next book!!!
Great cozy mystery set right in the middle of a Florida baking contest. Old friend rivalry shows up of course, and murder is in the air. Very well written!
I am wondering if this author uses a proof reader? There are so many grammatical errors and even misspelled words in her books, it is very distracting.
I just love cozy mysteries. This was a fun cozy. I can never tell who did the murder until the end. The shenanigans that go on in a small town and murders that are solved by a sleuth are extraordinary.
Faith, Laura and Grandma Bessie made it to the Final Round in the Cynthia Rochford Cupcake Marathon. In the semi-finals, they were pitted against Nico Morris, last year's champion, who seemed to have a huge following. Nevertheless, they defeated Nico and made it to the final round.
They have their work cut out for them, as they will be competing against Wilhelmina Roby, who has won the marathon numerous times. When Wilhelmina turns up dead, Nico is selected as the replacement in the finals, rather than The Baking Babes, who had competed against Wilhelmina in the semi-final round.
Naturally, Deputy Sheriff Valdez thinks Faith had the best motive, winning the contest with a Grand Prize of $50,000. But the other semi-finalists had an equally valid motive - Make it to the Finals with a chance to win the Prize Money. After a second murder, the tension mounts.
Who killed Wilhelmina? Why was she killed? Are the two murders related? Will the contest be cancelled? Will Faith be able to solve the mystery?
This book feels somewhat awkward at the start, but continues smoothly afterwards. Plenty of twists, turns, and surprises to keep you guessing.
OMG!!!!! I have to say this is the best book I read in this series . It's a culinary cozy mystery and if you have not read books 1 and 2 please do. I must say though Nancy and Cyra have really done a great job with this boo,. Thank you both Nancy and Cyra for this great cozy mysyery.
