Tragedy caused artist Emily White to move to Fly Creek, Wyoming, three years ago. She’s opened up her own gallery there but kept herself emotionally disconnected from the world until Adam Conley enters her store. He, too, has moved to the area but his motivation is to fulfil his promise to his cousin regarding Emily. She’s totally unaware of his connection to her dead fiancé but both are very aware of the instant attraction between them. As emotional barriers are broken down, will love find a wa ...more

This is one hell of a debut novel! I could not put the book down. Even a day later, it's hard to put words to this story. My review won't do it justice, just read the book. It's tender, overflows with sadness yet hope, you watch Emily unfold like a flower under Adam's prodding; breaking through the protective walls she's built to keep herself safe. There are great laughs and lots of down home meddling by the women folk and some bitter memories from Adam. And there is deceit, and some not forthco ...more

"A life she existed rather than participated in."

This sentence perfectly encapsulates Emily's past three years. She's simply existing, alive, but not living, because Drew, her fiance, truly is gone and she's been unable to fully move on, okay, not at all, since. She's essentially secluded herself, emotionally if not literally. She paints, she works, she interacts, but that's the extent...until Adam walks into her store to pick up an order for his boss. For some reason, Emily feels a

Emily moved to Fly Creek because she needed a fresh start. She's still grieving and can't heal from the loss of her fiancé Drew. She's existing, but living is out of the question. After three years she's still not ready to let anyone in. That changes when gorgeous cowboy Adam moves into town and shows an interest. Emily doesn't know Drew was Adam's cousin and she also has no idea he is on a mission. What will happen when she finds out?

Adam promised Drew he'll make sure Emily will find happiness

I would give this book a 4 1/2 puppy rating

I really enjoyed the connection between these characters and how much the town really pulled for Emily. That is one thing I will mention the town in this book was one that I wouldn’t mind living in myself. Everyone knew who she was and even though she was closed mouthed about who she was and what had happened to her the town still protected her and that to me is amazing. I really loved all the secondary characters as well and you don’t often see that in

Entangled Publishing’s Bliss imprint is all about sweet romance, family, everyday men and women, and small towns, with caring if not nosey and pushy townspeople. Her Cowboy’s Promise encompasses all that and more.

After the heartbreaking death of her fiancé Drew, Emily White left everything she knew including her family and friends to escape the pain. She moved halfway across the country and started over. It’s been three years and she’s only living a shell of a life. She doesn’t socialize outside

He teaches her how to breathe. She shows him how to love. Her Cowboy's Promise is a story that screams emotion. From heartbreaking grief, to emotional reawakening, Ms. Hoopes tale is one of courage, devotion and second chances. A tragedy changes the course of two peoples lives, but a promise has the power to heal their broken hearts. I am new to this particular author, however anytime a story lingers on the mind for days on end, it's obvious she made an impression.

Three years ago Emily White lost the man she loved. She's still grieving and finding it difficult to move on with her life. However, the moment she meets Adam Conley, she finds their instant attraction just might make her ready to get close to someone again. Yet, when she learns the truth of why he's come to Fly Creek, will she be able to forgive his deception, or will her second chance at happy ever after never happen.

What an incredibly captivating, fast-paced, mesmeric debut novel Ms. Hoopes h

Wow! What a powerful and emotionally charged story! Just a forewarning, have some tissues close by for this one. It is definitely a heart string pulling kind of book. My heart broke for Emily and also for Adam. I can totally understand her pain throughout this book. After such a devastating and sudden loss, I am not sure I would be better off than Emily. The writer made you feel her pain and suffering as well as wanting to start living again. Ms. Hoopes really got to the deep heartache and heart ...more

This was both at the same time heartbreaking as it was heartwarming; the emotions it evoked cannot be explained. Only that the writing was a prime example of what every writer aspires to...causing the reader to feel the emotions of the characters and the story itself.

It became so easy to fall in love with Adam and his hesitancy to cause emotional harm to Emily. From the first moment he appeared in her store, flashing his dimples, and holding his hat in his hands ("treading it through his finger

LOVED THIS BOOK!! This is a new author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed this story of Emily and Adam. (Without giving anything away....) Emily's life has been on hold since a great loss she suffered 3 years earlier. She has left her life behind and is barely existing in her "new" life in Wyoming. Adam is new to town but has his own secrets and agenda and his reasons for picking this small town. Their story is wonderful and shows that love can truly overcome any obstacle if you trust your heart an ...more

Some books you read, some you devour then there's the books that totally consume you. Her Cowboy's Promise was just that for me, I will honestly say i wasn't expecting such an emotional and beautiful read.

This is Jennifer Hoopes debut novel and I have to say it's so well written i would never have guessed. This emotional read will pull you in and keep you there even after you finish. The grief had my heart in my mouth for most of this read. But don't get me wrong its not all doom and gloom. Ther

**I received this book for review from Entangled Publishing. All thoughts are my own**

Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me. It wasn't the writing or the story or anything like that. I just didn't end up enjoying it as much as I had hoped. This is a widow story (even though she was engaged not married, but technicalities) and I'm just not a huge fan of them.

I know there are people who will like this. If you don't mind the widow storyline, then I recommend it. It just wasn't for me, unfortu

The technical stuff: This standalone book was a sweet romance with no harsh cursing or on-screen sex. If those things turn you off from a book, you have no worries here.

This book was far more emotional than I was expecting, and I loved that. Although Emily was in mourning through a lot of the story, her sadness and anxiety were tempered with enough moments of humor and sweetness that it wasn't a depressing read at all. Don't misunderstand me, I got teary-eyed reading this one...more than once, a

Normally, I would include a little bit of the plot. This time I thought doing so would reveal too much.
One thing that attracted me to want to read this book was Emily being an artist. This was the first book that dealt with a rancher. While I believed it to be predictable in the beginning, I was pleasantly surprised at many parts of the story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader's copy.
Her Cowboy's Promise is the debut novel and the first in the Fly Creek series by Jennifer Hoopes.

Emily White moved to Fly Creek 3 years ago, pretty much to grieve for her fiance who died in a canoe accident. The small town seemed a perfect place to be able to isolate herself, not so many people to try to keep away from. She has an art supply shop, and also sells paintings, some on commission. Apart from dealing with customers she doesn't socialise, she doesn't let anybody in. Her grief is overw

This was an interesting story of a woman who has been mourning the tragic death of her fiancé Drew. Emily White was an art teacher in Pennsylvania and Drew was the P.E. teacher. They had gone out to the river on a boat to go fishing and it tipped over. Drew was pulled under never to be found.
Three years have passed, Emily has moved to Colorado and opened a gallery art studio. Yet, she is not living. She is afraid of her own shadow. Forget her being around a body of water or even mentioning it.

It would be so easy to read the cover description for Her Cowboy’s Promise and think “light hearted romance”. It is, yet it is so very much more than that. This is an emotional story for both Emily and Adam. It’s learning to deal with grief and the guilt of being the one still living in a couple separated by death. It’s learning to live and trust again, putting yourself “out there” to see what happens next. It’s not easy to start over again, but Emily is trying in th

Jennifer Hoopes’ debut, Her Cowboy’s Promise, is a touching and poignant romance in which a woman learns to live and love again after losing her heart to tragedy. Emily White moved to the small town of Fly Creek, Wyoming, to start anew after her fiancé died in an accident, but three years later she’s still mired in pain, isolating herself and struggling to enjoy life. She meets town newcomer Adam Conley and is shocked to feel desire again, and although she can’t quite get a read on the sexy, gen ...more

While this story deals with some heavy subject, including loss of a loved one, survivors guilt and forgiveness, I don’t feel that it was either a dour or depressing read at all. Jennifer Hoopes did a wonderful job of bringing the reader along on Emily’s journey to learn how to live and love again.
I thought was plot was fresh and original, with a bit of a twist that this reviewer will keep to herself. Adam is patient and kind while trying to draw Emily out of the shadows she’s been

This was a book that really made you feel like I was on a roller-coaster. First it started a little slow (building the foundation), then you start going up but then you are plunging down fast. The plot with Drew and what exactly happened to him was a little unexpected and I thought a little drawn out. I really wanted to go to the back of the story (something I used to do in high school read the ending first) and find what exactly happened to Drew.

I adored Emily. She took her time in her own way

This is a sweet story about grief, hope, and love.

Adam is in the town of Fly Creek to make good on a promise he made to his cousin. Unbeknownst to Emily this is why Adam initially tries to get to know her better.

Emily's sadness and heartache were so believably portrayed. Especially once you understand more details of what happened to her only a few years earlier.

I did have a little bit of a hard time getting into the story initially, but I really enjoyed it! I appreciated, too, that the premise

Even though I did enjoy this book, if I'm honest it did have its moments where it felt like it was dragging and I really have to push myself to read or get through some point of the book. Even with that said, I really did like the book the characters where book, the story line was interesting and when it came down to the story in general it was a pretty good book. Maybe it's me, maybe I just wasn't in the mood to read it. The book does have its generic story line that I usually find appealing th ...more

Tough review to write. This is a fantastic story. It's well written with very well developed characters. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star read for me was I thought it focused just a little too much on Emily's grief and guilt rather than the developing relationship between Emily and Adam. After three years it seems to be too all consuming. I have to say this story is a bit heavier than most of the Bliss titles I've read still it's a book worth reading and one I would recommend to ...more

A wonderful debut

This debut from Jennifer Hoopes hooked me from the very beginning. This is a beautifully written, emotional story about moving on after your world comes crashing down. Emily moved to Fly Creek, Wyoming three years ago. Adam comes to town to fulfill a promise he made to his deceased cousin, Drew. Drew was Emily’s fiancé. How will Emily react when the truth is revealed? No spoilers, but I recommend this beautiful story to everyone that enjoys small town settings. I can’t wait to r

3.5, but not sure I can really bump it to 4. Her Cowboy's Promise was good. The best part of the story is the characters of Fly Creek. The main conflict is the promise that Adam made to his cousin, Drew, and the secret he is keeping from Emily. The story stalled out a little over the 75% finished mark. The issues were still basically the same as they were at the beginning of the book. I started to skim over parts which I rarely do. I still plan to read the next book in the series.
