4.5 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this read! Alex Carver has fashioned a breakneck-paced murder mystery full of false leads and red herrings that'll keep you on the edge of your seat from the very first page.

This is my fourth Alex Carver read, and it is by far and away my favorite. Characters were well developed, with fully fleshed personalities. I could relate to each character, but I particularly loved Cons

Really strong beginning, I was loving how graphic and well written the scenes were but it dipped a bit for me in the middle some and the ending left a lot of questions unanswered for me. 3.5 stars rounded up to four because when it works, it really works.

Written in blood.

A strange mix of violence, police corruption and ineptitude, with a cosy, British countryside setting. Quite a few grammatical/typographical errors and occasional reference to the culprit as Him/He.
Regardless, the story is compelling and moves at a good pace.
