Ms. Just One More Book (Kris Miller)
Superbly vivid scenes and ultra-realistic portrayals give this book stunning authenticity and depth.

His only fear was not knowing if he had what it took to be a Marine officer––that is, until the day they sent him to Nam. An entitled second lieutenant, fresh out of training, lands in Vietnam full of wonder––an all consuming awe that quickly descends into dread at the deplorable conditions he, as an officer, has to endure. Speaking his mind to a superior officer only makes matters worse as he is

Rarely do I read war books. They hurt!
However, I could not put this book down. To hear the account of this young man sent to fight a war Americans were protesting while his wife was awaiting his return and their first baby is heart-breaking. This book "Thirty Days Has September: First Ten Days" opened my eyes to reality of the everyday life they lived to exist in this war.
Great book!

Thirty Days Has September :First Ten Days. James Strauss

A new Lieutenants first command in Viet Nam. Speaking your mind might not be your best option to your superiors. The Lieutenant quickly learns his survival depends on his sergeant and the respect of his troops. In this short time period he quickly learns to pay attention to his sergeant. Some of his superiors Captains and above follow the conventional rules of engagement. There are no rules of engagement. Only survival. Excellent read.

An excellent work of fiction set in VietNam w/ the Marines in the A Shau Valley. This is one of those rare works that gets better by the page as Strauss draws you into the world of a Marine Company. Not you typical VietNam war story.
