It has very good recommendations for designing and planning your fence.
It has a slew of picket fence designs in it. If you don't like any of the 20+ full sized picket patterns included with the book, there are several photos and drawings of dozens more. It is a very good design resource.
Pros: It has helpful step-by-step instructions for making all the fences pictured on the front and back cover. Plus, it includes even more fences and patterns for some really pretty and uncommon picket styles. I didn't find any book with more picket patterns than this book. I used one of these patterns to make my fence and it is the talk of the town.
Cons: I got this book from the library and the fold-out patterns had been torn out of the book. So, I needed to find another copy.
Showed 100 designs of fences, primarily of the Victorian era - divided them up into picket, board, sawn picket, balustrade, grid and panel, pale and historical fences. Some construction tips also and rated each fence on security, privacy, buffering and construction difficulty.
