If you are a harry potter fan, magic boarding school fan, and lost princesses who don't know they are queens then this book is the book for you.  We have a lovely character named Ivy who for the first part of the book is slumming away in a kitchen and we get the pleasure of meeting the unique Scaldrons dragons who bake in their mouths.  While we are meeting these we get a real glimpse in to the misery that is Ivy life and how she is thrust out into the world quite suddenly after a hiccup with on ...more

5 magical stars!

This is a delightful YA fantasy story involving a young lady with magical abilities and a magic school where she finds herself belonging. This book feels reminiscent of Harry Potter, in all the right ways.

Young Ivy Lovely, care-taker of scaldrons (cute dragons that provide fire for cooking food for a castle) is content enough with her lot in life, though she secretly wishes for more. She shows talent for remembering her dreams, a photographic memory, and being able to perfectly s

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are unique, as is the story. I get reminded of Harry Potter with the whole school and magic thing, but the author has managed to make it so unique and different. The description of the world is amazing. You get pulled into a mystical adventure right from the beginning. The cover is wonderful and the author is really nice, making the whole experience even better. I would

This book, although set in a very interesting world, with a unique magical system centered around quills and inks, doesn't get my full love.
Why you say, when I've been dying to read this book since the first time I saw it?
Well, let's just say that I feel the author has this strange aversion against food??

I mean, Ivy's first day at school she skipped lunch (and breakfast, I'm pretty sure, since she said that lunch was the first time she saw the dining hall). Then, the second day, she also skip

I'm really glad I agreed to receive a copy of this book to review!
I absolutely loved the world created in this book. The magic and the way magic is used is totally unique. I loved the idea of a school of magic (it really did have some HP vibes) and I loved the characters! Ivy kinda reminded me of a mix between Hermione and Luna which made her totally awesome in my opinion.
It was an action packed, fun filled story and I definitely recommend giving it a read!

3.5 Stars! This was quite a fun adventure! I keep seeing it being compared with Harry Potter and I definitely see why, it was Harry Potter meets Disney's "Tangled"!

I loved the world the author created with the unique magic of the "scriveners" and the "crowns", all the interesting creatures and the strange characters. I loved Ivy, the main character, but she came across like a middle grade charact

Wow, I can't even begin to describe how I am feeling right now! This book was simply magical! I was lucky enough to receive an eARC from Net galley in exchange for an honest review, so that is what I am going to give you! First off, let me say that even though this book is geared towards young readers, adults can thoroughly enjoy this adventure as well. I went in not knowing anything about this book and quickly fell in love. From begining to end, this book was amazing. You can tell there is heavy influence with Harry Potter, but still manages to feel unique. Some may love the similarities, but others may not. It's completely up to the reader to decide. The magic is unique, the characters are memorable and this world is magical in everyway. The world building and pacing are perfect. Disclaimer: I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of this marvelous book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My reviews are always honest, because there truly isn’t a point in lying to yourself and others. Not all readers share the same interests and likes. So what I might like you might not, however, there is always and very thin line between bashing and giving constructive criticism. That’s the line where I stand.

The Crowns of Crosswalk is a delightful book. The book

The book is intended for a younger audience so some of the plot may seem simple or even predictable to older audiences but Night has this way of making the reading experience fun as if you get to travel back to your own childhood to experience this through less jaded eyes.

It comes off a bit like Harry Potter meets Cinderella. You have the ‘scullery maid’ who discovers she’s not what she thought she was and off to a new magical world she goes. Okay so that’s taking paraphrasing to the extreme but

I want to thank D.E. Night and Ellen for sending this book to me for free for an honest review.

There are many things that I want to say about this book. First, it is such a wonderfully written fantasy. I loved everything about it. Second, even though it has similarities to other middle-grade/YA magical books, it is uniquely it's own. Thirdly it had some great baddies. Giving this book 4.5 stars.

What a great book!
In "Crowns of Croswald" we follow sixteen year-old Ivy who has lived all her life behind an enchanted boundary that separates the mundane world from the magical. As she crosses the border and starts attending Halls of Ivy, a school where students learn how to master magic, Ivy gets in a lot of trouble and has a lot of adventures.
What I liked the most about this book was it's setting. The descriptions and the world building were very well executed, making the reading experience

I COMPLETELY enjoyed this book! I haven't read a book this unique, entertaining and magical since Harry Potter. The imagination and creativity put into the story is what makes it so great.

The plot twists in the story though?!? By the end of the book my mouth was o

When I was offered to receive a bookish box that included a signed ARC of this book, I jumped at the chance, because this sounded like a fun read.

And this book is indeed fun and very entertaining.

Ivy is an interesting character. It's clear there's more to her than she herself knows and it was fun to discover both what that is and the magical world this story is set in.

After an introduction to Ivy and the world she grew up in, Ivy is soon on her way to a boarding school where she will learn what

Honestly, I loved how whimsical and well told this book is. Night has a way with words that just made Ivy really come alive for me. The Crowns of Croswald seems set to become a new magical series in many respects similar to Harry Potter. However this in no way detracts from this enchanting and beautifully descriptive debut from D E Night. It was fun to read and I look forward to devouring more of Ivy's adventures as she tries to free Croswald from the dangerous clutches of the Dark Queen and discover her birthr

I received an ARC of this from the authors book in return for an honest review, this in no way influences my opinion and all the words below are my own.

First and foremost I need to take a trip to this universe ASAP.

Secondly, I really, really like D.E. Night's writing! I quite enjoyed the beginning and end, though I had a few issues with the middle, and overall liked it a lot! My main issue with the middle was some cliches. Obviously any book with a child discovering they have magical abilitie
