The author claims to have 15,000 "friends" and has many "deep conversations" with them. However, the book repeatedly offers advice on how to approach "the opposite sex". Apparently, the deep conversations with 15,000 friends have not revealed to the author that between 5%-10% of the population are not at all interested in the opposite sex. How a person can miss such an obvious social fact, while at the same time pretending to give advice on better conversations, is beyond my comprehension. Sadly, it makes the whole book completely unbelievable.

Oh, and the writing style is horrific.

There are lots of self-help books out there that claim to be able to help you find out the secrets to making friends, finding love and even learning how to effectively network with other people. For the most part these books don’t offer answers but instead are filled with very vague advice that could be effective if it were a little bit more specific.
Social Wealth: How to Build Extraordinary Relationships by Transforming the Way We Live, Love, Lead and Network is a book that is designed to help people be more social when it comes to human contact in a world that is becoming increasingly isolated with so many interactions between people being conducted through text messages, social media and messaging services.
There is an entire generation that is growing up who are finding it increasingly difficult to interact social and be successful at it. This book seems to be aimed at those who struggle with social interaction rather than a wide scope that claims it can help anyone make more friends.
With this kind of book people are always going to take different things away from the same advice, but in this case it is not a downside. A lot of the advice given is common sense that can work for anyone, but not all of it will apply to everyone either.
This book is ideal for those who are struggling to connect with the world around them and often feel out of place because of it. It encourages you to take positive action instead of waiting for someone else to reach out to you. For a world that has enabled us to connect more easily, people are becoming lonely and more isolated, but this book gives you a fighting chance to avoid that, improve your career prospects and live a much more socially orientated life.

Social Wealth focuses on the power of social, communication and emotional skills, and how having strong social connections and relationships can greatly benefit many parts of your life. The author talks about how having social media at hand all day, we are ironically becoming more isolated, and making real connections is more difficult and complicated than ever. Treu gives great advice on how to start building more relationships, and how to make them develop faster and stronger. Because he gives so many ideas, I think that people can really take his advice and figure out what works best for them, and to tailor the advice to their situation. I think Treu also brings up a lot of good points on why it’s a good thing to increase your social connections, as he says if you only really know five people, that severely limits who is going to be your best friend, as well as who you date. I think he does a great job of both showing why social connections matter, and solid ways to make new, meaningful connections in today’s world.

I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Very rarely do I rate a book 5 out of 5 but this book deserved it! This is definitely a book that should be a requirement in high school. This would help encourage the seniors how to start their next chapter in life. With going through interviews and some moving far away from the world as they know it they would be ready to knock down walls, travel different roads or choose a different career. I was a very shy and soft spoken person growing up and a wonderful man gave me these great suggestions that are written here. It changed my life into the successful social person I am today. This book is spot on with the suggestions to follow. If you were to read this book, follow the examples and you will undoubtedly succeed. I believe with what was taught to me and with this book taught to you, it will change your life. Anybody ready to start over or just beginning this is a must read. Very well written. Jason Treu is a genius!

This book is a How to Win Friends and Influence People for the digital age. Packed full of super simple and amazingly insightful advice, the book is professional and the information is well organized and presented. It's like an amazing roadmap to the extraordinary life you wish you were leading. I had planned on skimming out the “good stuff” in a quick read, but found myself slowing down to take it all in.

It has an interesting /different point of view about social life. Lots of explanations. Would have liked more practical advices (to give it a 5stars) and a bit more energy in writting.
All in all, if you are interested in social life, it worth reading and writting down the good advices it gives you.
You could also read "Jump Start Your Social Life" written together with Brent Smith, which is more suited for a single social & partying lifestyle

My new favorite success manual

When I picked up this book I thought I was simply getting networking advice to help me grow professionally. I got much more than that. Inside, I found tips for dating, friendship, overcoming social anxiety, and overall interpersonal communication. Social Wealth has transformed my outlook on relationships. I plan. To re-read one regularly.

This book had some great tips, but you'd have to plan to network four or five nights per week to achieve the results the authors does. Also, I was only reading the book for business purposes and could have done without the sections about being attractive to the opposite sex.

I love the concept of social wealth - rich relationships that enrich your life - but I didn't like the insinuation that you need thousands of these relationships. He does teach you how to develop effective communication and social skills.
