Omg...This is another brilliantly written book in the series. A tale weaving for Samril, a mage for prophecies and his ways to study them even when there puzzled to be riddles. A heart wrenching tale for Sam, Ithyn and others in this story.
Master Ithyn has a secret I'd wished he'd just tell Sam instead of disappearing every time. It really bugged me but by the ending its all explained. A few surprises and danger along the way, the next book in this series which I intend to buy asap.

The writing style is very easy to read, and flows well. The world building is complex but doesn't bog down the story, and I could follow along without any trouble although this isn't the first book in the series. The characters are interesting, and the perspective of the POV character works well as his self-righteous attitude colours his view of others, and the different society in which he finds himself.

G.R. Lyons stumbled into writing as a form of trauma recovery when traditional therapy wasn't working.

Then the story ideas just kept on coming.

Pulling from a vivid imagination as well as real-life experience as a trans man, a sexual assault survivor, and a person living with mental illness, Lyons has written multiple, interconnected series set within his fictional world of the Shifting Isles.
