Hm, also das ist echt mal ein BL-Manga, mit dem ich gar nichts anfangen sollte. Ich habe keine Beziehung zu irgendeinem Charakter aufbauen können und fand den Manga einfach alles in allem super langweilig. Eigentlich gibt es auch keine große Handlung. Man wartet einfach nur darauf, das Natsuki erkennt, dass er Shu auch liebt. Hm. Außerdem ist mir immer noch nicht klar, was es mit dem Titel der Geschichte auf sich hat. Das Cover ist blau und weiß... aber sonst? Der Zeichenstil war ok, aber auch nichts Besonderes. Da es aber nicht komplett schrecklich war, vergebe ich noch 2 Sterne.

Kotobuki Shinji sensei’s BL manga debut (one and only) was serialized over 3 years, so the book is pretty thick, with 11 chapters. One of my favorite childhood sweethearts manga, the sensei’s storytelling skill is top notch! She uses another name for TL manga, 神寺千寿 Kamidera Chizu.
Once I got over the baby faced drawing style (think Kanna Kii sensei) I was fully immersed in this delicate story about two high schoolers going from friends to lovers.
Like the title, blue and pure love.
Everything progresses slowly and the characters have emotions as they would do in real life.
It’s not easy to accept one’s sexuality and overcome childhood trauma.
The reader follows them through different stages of self doubt, ice breaking, misunderstanding, reconciliation, and acceptance.
The seme 柏原秋 is 16 year old and uke 杉野夏季 is 17 year old. They met five years ago and went to different middle schools, but became good friend because they have similar hobbies (bonsai). They are now in the same high school but different grades and would go home together every day.
The uke noticed that seme secretly kissed his cheek when he pretended to be asleep, and start to distance himself away… The seme called uke out that night and confessed to him, although the uke tried to stop him because it will change their friendship.
The uke was molested by an older boy when he was younger… He said to seme that relationship between men is disgusting. The uke regretted his overreaction that hurt the seme’s feelings so he got his childhood friend 春田 to shave his hair. The childhood friend spoke to the seme and told him to feel free to chat about his troubles. The two boys went back to normal and continue being friends.
The seme has been hanging with a pretty boy classmate 冬也 in the school. The uke saw a boy in glasses fighting with the pretty boy so told him off, the pretty boy kissed his cheek as thanks. He kept on throwing questions at the uke to clarify his feelings for the seme, also mentioned the seme is very gentle and good in bed…The uke is confused and annoyed that pretty boy knows things about the seme that he doesn’t. The seme told the uke to please stay away from the pretty boy…
The seme first met the pretty boy when he was in the lowest point in life, confused about his sexuality. His parents are always away because of work and he’s just living with his grandma (with blue eyes). The uke went on a week long vacation with his parents and asked the seme to take care of a bonsai for him.
The seme saw the pretty boy making out with a rich guy in the neighborhood, he’s jealous of the pretty boy’s freedom and arrogance, being flamboyant and openly out. The rich guy beat up the pretty boy so he escaped and asked the seme to take him in for the week. The seme had some deep conversations with the pretty boy who told him to go outside to a new world and open his eyesights before thinking about his troubles.
The seme’s grandpa is a typical Japanese man and met the grandma in the UK, then they eloped and she followed him to Japan. The family’s house has a western x Japanese style garden. Unfortunately the grandma feel in the kitchen and passed away. The uke rushed over to the seme’s home and hugged him to sleep all night.
The seme thinks the uke is too gentle kind to everyone, including getting close with the pretty boy. Ever since then the uke’s been coming for sleepovers at the seme’s house more frequently, to keep him company so he won’t be lonely. The seme saw the uke walking half naked after shower so he masturbated in the shower, the uke heard seme calling his name and almost fainted after having flashback… The seme started crying after the uke hit his hand away, as he doesn’t want to be disliked by the uke. The uke finally told the seme about being molested by an older neighbor in the bathroom when he was in elementary school.
The two boys went out for a walk to cool down and bumped into the seme’s classmate (a girl) at the convenience store. The uke said the seme is pretty popular amongst girls and started chatting about relationship. The uke asked if the seme is sexual attracted to men, and the seme answered only to him. The seme clarified to the uke that the pretty boy and him just masturbated together, then the uke asked if he want to try?
The seme kissed the uke and got smashed in the head, then the uke kissed him back… The two boys went all the way, in the end the uke slapped the seme’s face because he went crazy and tried to cover his shyness.
The uke had fever for three days and skipped school for a week. His best friend came over to visit and told him the seme looked very happy. The two boys bumped into each other at the train track one night but the uke just ran away and continued to play hide and seek in school. The uke envies the pretty boy who knows what he wants and not compromise, whereas he is not sure how to face the seme in the future. The seme overheard their conversation “I’d rather be friends than being like this” and got hurt and ran off.
The seme apologized to the uke, he cannot go back to being friends after crossing the line that night, whether the uke did it out of pity or just went with the flow… The seme cried because their current dynamics is making both of them uncomfortable.
The uke’s best friend saw him crying and asked him a bunch of questions, told him to think with his heart and not the brain, what kind of relationship he want to have with the seme. The uke rushed over to the seme’s house that night and confessed to him, he had sex with the seme because he wanted to make him happy, and he felt scared afterwards because he didn’t dislike it at all…

This one completely managed to sneak past me. So a huge Thank you to Sarah for her review because without that I wouldn't have known about Blue, Clean.
I also definitely agree with her review. The story feels quite natural to me, it is sad and melancholy but you also get these positive feelings throughout the story because these boys really care for each other and it shows. They are able to reflect on their feelings and on how their actions affect the other one.

This is SUCH a sweet friends-to-lovers story! This manga also touches on some heavy subjects and it feels really melancholy for most of it but it's also really lovely.
The art is pretty and the pacing of the story is nice. one of the best single-volume BL manga I've read so far. Definitely give this a try!

Eine sehr süsse Liebesgeschichte, man merkt wie gerne sie sich haben, aber mit ihren Gefühlen kämpfen.
Die Sexszenen waren mir aber ein bisschen to much.

Lo volví a leer después de tiempo.
Me ha gustado mucho, aunque tengo que decir que algunas veces (muchaaaas) me desespero lo imprudente que es el protagonista, es indeciso pero no por eso me desesperaba sino por qué le daba alas al otro chico y pero al final daba un paso atrás. Y el otro chico lo perdonaba demasiado.
Entiendo sus motivos para no aceptar los sentimientos de su amigo pero, es muy cruel la mayoría de veces ye inconsciente de esto si no se lo decían.
