Rough around the edges. A heart of gold. Only one woman can satisfy this mountain man. And when fate sends his intended mate right to his doorstep, he's ready to give up all honour to claim her!

Trouble in Aspen Valley and a threat to journalist Cassie Grey's life leaves her no choice but to seek refuge. At the advice of her brother, she agrees to lay low in a mountain-side cabin owned by his best friend Luke...

While staying with Luke, Cassie sees past his serious demeanour and becomes infatuated by his rogue grin and rugged good looks. She also senses something purely animalistic about him. His panty-melting stares are just as potent to her as his lingering caresses. She wants more than his promise of safety. It doesn't matter that he's ten years older than her. She knows a real man is what she needs. She can't fight the need to have him all to herself - he doesn't want to!

Wolf shifter, Luke Lombardi, is a man of his word, but Cassie's sexy curves and teasing touches are driving him to distraction. He's supposed to be looking out for her, not wishing she was his. By Luke's standards, she's barely legal and out of his league, but she doesn't seem to care. His control is fading… especially when all he wants to do is lay claim to the mate he's always desired. There's just one more obstacle: revealing his secret could mean losing her forever!

This book was given to me to ascertain my true thoughts and opinions. :D

Mountain Wolf is a continuation of the Aspen Valley wolf series and it was my first story for Ms. Monroe. I think she did a good job fleshing out the characters individually and packing a lot of story in within a short time frame without it being overwhelming. I liked Luke and Cassie's relationship on how she would try to seduce him and yet he tried to resist her young charms. :D He didn't succeed but at least he tried. :) I liked the reporter angle in the story, but her age seemed a bit young for everything that she has accomplished thus far in her career. I liked the build up of their undercurrent of their sexual attraction to one another though I would have thought the wolf in Luke would have a hard time resisting his mate. The story and everything it was to get her in the mountains in the first place and while she was there all things meshed well except the ending was a bit anticlimactic in the fact that Cassie was being hunted, but the men or people who threatened her never figured out where she was hiding but then again, I would have loved if Luke could tear them to pieces for even think about harming what was his. :) I thought the story was a bit "tame" *chuckles* for the seriousness of allegations. :)

It was still a well written story for those who like shifters and another plus is that I like the shifters actually shift and they just don't allude to being animals but Ms. Monroe shows that they are. Keeps the story authentic. I give this a 3.5 star because when they got to the relations of the story, things got pretty hawt. It was good. :)

After Cassie finds herself in a little trouble she needs somewhere to stay for awhile. Her older brother thinks he's found the perfect place for her with his old friend Luke. When Luke and Cassie see each other for the first time in years, the sparks fly and Cassie not only feels safe with Luke but she feels like she's found where she belongs.
This was a quick but passionate read. Luke and Cassie felt drawn to each other and once they gave in to their desires, there was know turning back. The story felt a little rushed and the ending was abrupt but this is perfect for the romance reader looking for a quick fix. I gave it 3.5 stars.

Good short read. Cassie is a journalist who's life was threaten. Cassie's brother has to travel for work and calls on his friend Luke to watch after her. The chemistry between them starts right away. It talks a little about why Cassie is threaten, but the story is more about Cassie and Luke fighting their desire for each other, but in the end can not stop it from happening. The only thing I felt could have been better if there was more action and suspense on the treat that Cassie received. I think this would have made the book a lot better. I received and ARC copy for my honest review.

I have to say I liked this book. It's got a nice love story without being over the top or only about sex. Without giving any spoilers, my absolute favorite scene is when the brother walks into the moutain cabin where his sister is laying low. (I could so see that happen and chuckle to myself whenever I think about it!) It's a pretty fast read and really the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because I really feel like there's a big portion of the story missing in regards to the major conflict...someone is targeting and killing shifters. It just sort of wrapped up and I'm still a little bit confused as to what happened or was going on with that. I feel like Ms. Monroe could have gone into greater depth/detail and really expanded the story. Overall though it's a good read and I recommend it.

Cassie is a young journalist who is looking into a string of shifter murders. Someone threatens her because of her involvement and her overprotective brother sends her to stay with his friend Luke. Luke is a wolf shifter and his interest in Cassie goes beyond her being his potential mate, he thinks she can help solve the case.

The dialogue isn't great, the suspense at the beginning is never revisited and it gets a tad silly towards the end. That being said...it was cute, had some sweet moments and if I accept it for just the romance then it was a nice little read.

This novella is about Luke and Casie.

Luke operates a mountain lodging company I Aspen Valley. Cassie is a reporter and finds herself in trouble. Her brother, Neil arranged for Cassie to stay with Luke, his friend since college until her troubles fizzle out. Luke soon realizes that Cassie is his mate but will it be too much for her brother to accept? Will her troubles catch up with her?

This novella was okay. The characters were extremely likeable and the plot was entertaining. The passion between the two was sizzling hot!

Sassy Cassie

A woman in a mission is very convincing. Cassie was the typical teenager who had a crush on her brother's best friend. However, the crush grew into something more as she got older and needed a place of refuge for a little while. Like being 10 years her senior just happened to have such a place available. There, their love for one another was discovered and developed into something for eternity.

He's older that her and trying to do the right thing and leave her alone. She was able to help the shifters with her research on a story to get the murders and finding without sex that she's his soul mate and being a gentleman. But he cared to much.

I wish there was a little more action. The action/suspense part was barely touched on. I thought at least one of the bad guys would come after her so Luke would have to defend her. I always like the MMC to be the hero that saves the day. Other than that I liked the book.

The only thing...

The only thing I didn't like was that Cassie supposedly didn't know that Luke was a shifter but was talking with him about packs and meeting his alpha. All the things she picked up on, like his eyes and stuff was dead giveaways so that was off and made the story seem off. This was wrapped up pretty well but as I guessed we still didn't get anything from the first book brought back up. But I wouldn't be surprised if we see them in another story.

Neil's sister Cassie gets in trouble investigating the shifter murders and her life is threatened. Neil calls his best friend Luke to see if he would look after her. Luke hadn't seen Cassie since she was a teenager so he is blindsided when his mating mark flares. Sparks fly between the two of them but can her brother handle it? Great book!

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

This was an okay book. Luke and Cassie were likable, and the story was interesting, although there were things that bothered me about both the characters and the plot. Overall, it wasn't my favorite, but I didn't hate it either. I was gifted a copy.

This was a treat at the beginning it starts off with a bang and it followed right thru too. The end was magnificent though I was expecting some action but hey love conquers all.
Cassie Grey is a human journalist for the Aspen Valley Times. Once she starts working on something, she keep digging until she find everything anyone is hiding, a regular Sherlock Homes. But it's seems she's dug a little to far and someone doesn't like it, consequently they have thrown a message via flying rock through her apartment window. Neil her brother does not like this so he enlists some help.
Luke Lombardi is a Wolf Shifter with the Aspen Valley Wolf Pack. He owns some land and has lots of cabins he rents out daily, weekly, what ever the guest wants. Getting a plea for help from his old college roommate came out of the blue especially since it's been ages they talked. Taking care of his BFF from college little sister was no problem. Unfortunately once he saw his friend's filled out, grown up little sister Luke knew he was in trouble with a capital "T".

HEA, Standalone, Fated Mates. Cassie knows a story when she hears it. She is determined to find out who is killing Shifters and expose them publicly in the paper she works for. She gets too close to the truth and her brother takes her to his friend Luke for safety. Luke has his own secrets and is blown away by the change in Cassie from when he met her years ago. What happened?

This book actually ends at 30% which made me sad. It ends abruptly. What happens with the Mayor and the Alpha. the three men who were caught, were they just fall guys? Does Cassie continue with her journalism career or get more involved with the case?

Cassie is a newbie journalist. She may be young but she is a pit bull when it comes to a story! She defines tenacious! But when she gets a bit too close to the truth when working a series of murders of shifters, her brother packs her off to a friend in the countryside to keep her out of trouble. Little did he know he just dropped her off into a whole new world of trouble!

Luke may be her brothers college friend, but he never "came out" as a shifter and he has more than enough responsibilities to deal with but he remembers the cute as a button Cassie, not the bombshell she has matured into. But he is 9 years older than Cassie and is trying to deny the fact that she is his mate, all whilst trying to keep her occupied and out of trouble!

Great wee nugget. The characters were readily relatable and my only grips was that the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Mountain Wolf Aspen Valley Wolf Pack Book 6
by Amber Ella Monroe
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed reading this fantastic story!!! It's a well written and very entertaining with great characters. I really enjoy a story when it pulls me in from the beginning and holds me enthralled until the end. Amber Ella Monroe has created a amazing and fantastic addition to this awesome paranormal series. This story features Cassie Grey and Luke Lombardi. Cassie is a journalist who has a threat to her life in Aspen Valley leaves her no option but to seek refuge. She agrees with the advice of her brother, to stay in a mountain-side cabin owned by his best friend Luke. Luke is a Wolf shifter and a man of his word, but Cassie's sexy curves and teasing touches are driving him to distraction. These two characters have incredible depth and explosive passion when they meet again. The sexual chemistry and tension between Luke and Cassie sizzling Hot as their relationship is developes. The thing I enjoy the most is Luke's transition to Cassie being his fated mate, Luke gives hisself over to his shift and his feelings, this is absolutely gorgeous and it's all kinds of sexy. WOW! This makes a big impact on the overall story and that what makes it so entertaining! Of course Ms.Monroe entered a few twists in the story. I felt my heart clench many times at the thought of the two of them running into another obstacle to their happiness. I smile as I wanted them to have their HEA! What a thrill ride this story is so amazing you will read each page faster than the last until the story is finished. I highly recommend this book. I volunteer to review this book because I enjoyed sharing my thoughts with my fellow readers.

Enjoyable

While I enjoyed reading Luke and Cassie's story, this book did not possess the kind of action I expected. It was a nice read, and it was a sweet HEA, but something as missing.

When Cassie's life is threatened over a story she is investigating, her brother insists she get out of the city for a while. Neil is headed out of town, so he calls up the only man he knows and trusts to keep her safe, his old friend and college roommate Luke. Neil doesn't realize Luke is a shifter, like those featured in the article Cassie is writing. He also isn't aware of the attraction between the two of them. Cassie is all grown up now. Not the awkward tween Luke remembers, but a gorgeous woman that stirs him in all the right ways. I loved the bit about the mating mark, how it is revealed, and when it becomes visible - what it looks like. This was too short for me, as I was really into it and wanting to know what happened with so many parts of the story when it ended. Boo hiss. I'm hoping there will be more to this story in the next book, or another one. I will have to watch, wait, and see.

Great mystery, lovely relationship!!

Journalist Cassie Grey is receiving threats due to her most recent investigative story, so her brother sends her to his best friend Luke who owns/rents mountain cabins along with his architecture business. Cassie’s story concerns a rash of shifter murders and she may have discovered some information no one else has uncovered.

Luke is aware Cassie is his fated mate; but besides being his best friend’s little sister she does not know he is a shifter.

The story is full of danger, attraction and shifter goodness!!

Cassie Grey had a break-in at her townhome unit following a threat because of an article she had written about an investigation of shifter murders. The police asked her to stay with someone for a few days for her protection, so she said she could go to her brother’s home. However, Neil had to go out of town for a few days, so he called his buddy Luke, asking him to stop by the nearby cabin where he was putting Cassie and just check on her now and then. But Neil’s cabin had leaked and was not currently useable. Instead, they drove to Luke’s cabin. His lodging units were all rented out for the upcoming tourist season, but he had a small place where staff personnel could stay, at least until he hired someone as Office Manager. Cassie could help out at the office in return for staying at the small cabin.

Luke was called to a meeting of his fellow scouts who were responsible for the safety of the pack and investigating the murders that were escalating. He was sure they were connected to the investigation Cassie had been conducting for her article. Maybe she had gotten close to identifying the killer? With the murders still happening locally, has Cassie stepped into even greater danger than before? Will Cassie and Luke get their chance to fall in love?

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, yet suspenseful, with a good storyline that moved along quickly. The main characters are very likeable. I definitely recommend it.
