DNF. Didn't like this audiobook. It was very hard to tell which MC was talking as the narration for both was nearly the same. The storyline didn't grab me. I put it down about 2 hours in.

God bless Texas and the Good Ol' Boy!

Well now, that was a nice, easy breezy little ol' story right there, I tell you what. Love me some Texas boys, mmhmmm!

KT and Jonah were once lovers until KT got it in his big head that he wanted to be a star. He lived for the fame and notoriety that a successful career in country music provided. Jonah... well, not so much. All Jonah wanted was to spend his days with his buddies, pickin' and singing. He didn't need or want the glory so he packed his shit and
This has all the makings of a country song...

There was a time when JT and Jonah loved each other, but JT wanted fame and fortune. Jonah just wants to make music. Both men are heartbroken when Jonah decides he needs to walk away from their relationship leaving JT to pursue the life he thinks he wants.

Years later JT has a very public melt down and heads back to Texas knowing that what he thought he wanted was neither what he wanted or needed. He finally reconnects with Jonah and as JT starts to

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

As friends and lovers, Jonah and Tuff made music together for years until Jonah’s need for peace and Tuff’s need for fame tore them apart. When Tuff ends his Nashville career with a spectacular public meltdown, he makes his way home to Texas where he seeks out Jonah and the music they have always shared. Jonah became professionally successful during their time apart but the years haven’t been easy and Tuff returns to a very

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.5 stars

This is a lighter, easy story despite some darker themes that get added in on the surface. KT and Jonah were solid in their relationship years ago, but career goals got in the way. They haven’t kept in touch, but when KT’s career explodes, the only place he really wants to go is to see Jonah and Jonah wants nothing more than for KT to come back home. However, Jonah isn’t the same person he was all those years ago. This is due to Jonah’s last relationship with a

This is one of those stories that can be encapsulated by a few short sentences; however, given that this would spoil the whole story for the reader, these will remain unspoken. It is a simple love story at heart with a limited and quite focussed cast. The characterisation is strong with good differentiation between the roles. The focus is on the interaction between the characters and as such the description of the surroundings is described with enough detail to contextualise the thoughts and ...more

From that review: " Because of BA Tortuga and Best New Artist, I now know about Red Dirt music, its place in Texas country music and and the artists so often thought of when that term comes up. I want to listen to all their music. I know about a place called Amaya’s in Austin that makes the best enchiladas. I know I need to go and eat there. I know about Tuff and JoJo,

Sometimes I get tired of insta-love stories, so it was good to read a second chance love story for a change. I loved both KT and Jonah as the MCs. They were wonderful together. KT was so patient and loving toward Jonah. It was really wonderful to read.

I also loved how there was real communication between the two MCs. Every time you think there is going to be a big misunderstanding, Jonah and KT actually did something you don’t always see in this type of story. They talked. It was

Narration Rating 5 Stars ~

Kasey Tuffman is the hottest new thing in Nashville. After working hard to become the next “thing” on the country charts, he’s done it all, including winning best new artist of the year at the premier country music award show in the industry. Unfortunately, however, Kasey is tired of the game, the show, and not being who he needs to be in his heart to be a complete. So, he promptly tells off the audience in attendance and the national viewership also watching.

Best New Artist is a nice contemporary story about a famous country singer, Kasey Tuffman, who decided he was done with Nashville and lucky for him, his ex decided to invite him over to stay at his place to unwind. Little does he know that all he has been missing while in Nashville was in fact his ex-boyfriend, Jonah Littlejohn.

What I loved most about the book was that there were so many times that the author could’ve made it into a vert angsty book, but didn’t. There were so many times that
