Spencer Polanski is an embalmer at her family-owned funeral home. Perfect job for a vampire, really. Especially one who's sans a working schnoz. That’s right. She has a bum nose. A plus when preparing the dead for eternal slumber—a big fat zero when it comes to sniffing out your true life mate.

Devoid her sense of smell, it’s business as usual when a clueless Spencer meets

Interesting

I'm going to have to get part 2. So far it's a good beginning. I really don't know what to say since this is just the start of the story.

*I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.*

Let the torture begin (again)! I willingly hopped on the serial train once more. In my defense, this is Dakota Cassidy we're talking about. I think everyone knows by now how much I love her stuff. So I will willingly torture myself with serials - which I am not a fan of - because I love to read her stuff.

Now, the version I read is a re-release with some revisions made - the female lead is no longer named Joy, but Spencer. I didn't read the or

First I have to admit I love most of Dakota Cassidy's books, especially her Accidental series, and this new series really reminded me of those. This was laugh out loud funny, but with enough mystery and heart to grab me right from the start.

Spence Polanski is the embalmer for Polanski Brothers funeral home. She's a vampire, so she'll be doing this for a very long time, and she comes with one glowing recommendation, she has no sense of smell. This counts as a big time plus when you are the embalm

Fun! Fun! Fun! Oh, and sexy! I’ve read a couple of Ms. Cassidy’s books, and enjoyed them all. The Polanski Brothers contains her normal sassy sense of humor, strange occurrences, vampires, and hot love scenes. Joy Polanski and Larkin McBride are two firecrackers, and what a show they put on! Wow. I found this book to be both incredibly funny, and sexy- something that many authors try for, but is actually quite difficult to achieve.

Joy, a vampire with no sense of smell, works at the family funera

A different twist on the vampire archetype. The Polanski family is a family of vampires that runs a funeral home. They have strict rules to live by. They do not bite humans, they are not allowed to have sex until they find their mate, and everyone in the family has found their mate by using their sense of smell.

This really puts Spencer Polanski in a tight spot because she has no sense of smell. She fears that she will forever, and forever for a vampire is a long time, be alone. It’s hard to meet

I've been reading Dakota Cassidy's Accidental Friends Series and the Hell Series and decided to check this book out when I saw it come up as a recommendation. It was a quick easy read - one where you saw the bad guy coming from a mile off and knew the ending by mid-way but still read to the end because it was light and cheesy and you wanted to make sure you were right. The sex scenes seemed a bit more explicit than usual but, in general, it was the typical witty paranormal fun that you can expec ...more

The Cop and the Vampire

Life is hard, but living as a vampire without a sense of smell is even harder. Spencer works in her family's funeral home as an embalmer (which is perfect because embalming is a very smelly job and someone has to do it) she is teased about her impairment because the only way her family found their mates is through their sense of smell. Things get complicated for Spencer when she bumps in detective Larkin McBride. He's mortal and yet he can read her thoughts (and some of th

In The Polanski Brothers: Home of Eternal Rest, Joy Polanski is a five hundred year old vampire and member of the family Polanski, owners of a string of funeral homes. At the viewing of an apparent suicide victim, Alan Perkins, Joy meets Detective Larkin McBride, a friend of Alan’s. They are both shocked and confused to discover that Larkin can read Joy’s mind. Larkin is even more confused because he had “heard” Joy think something about vampires...

Surprisingly enjoyable. Cover is atrocious.

Though it was very heavy handed with the "I don't have organs" and got repetitive several times with various things.

No surprises as to the villain or even the why... or how.

But I did still enjoy it, so yeah. I will read the next one.

Oh... there isn't a next one apparently, as apparently all the following ones are actually just a rejigger of this one, where Joy is now named Spencer. Hmmm... Don't know if I'll read the serials or not. Mayhaps in a while

This was not the usual vampire story I'm use to. I immediately loved Spencer! She was so quirky and fun just trying to get through eternity with her clan. This was a fast and entertaining read. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book and find out if Spencer ever finds her mate! Great start to a series I'm sure I'll be obsessing over.

Great short story

I love reading about vampires and this was my first time reading Dakota Cassidy. A series I look forward to reading. My first reading about a clan that sticks together as a family and run a funeral parlor. Great description to details and about only being able to mate with your true love makes it even better. A murder mystery, let them keep coming

This is a review for all of the parts. This is a serial that I really enjoyed. Spencer was hilarious. I loved learning about this world. I just couldn't wait to finish it. I read all of it in a day and just couldn't put it down. The only thing I did not love was in part 4 seemed very rushed.

Dakota Cassidy always has quirky and fun characters. Although the murders were pretty predictable as soon as they were labeled murders, the quirky, fun made up for it.
