As with most of the Love Finds You series, this was a re-read for me. The first time I read it, I noted that I found it "heartwarming and touching", leading me to believe that I would have rated it 4 stars. The fact that the book is heartwarming and touching hasn't changed this time around, but what has changed is my perception of the book.
First of all, I found Vance's attitude very annoying. He wasn't much better than the jerk of a Phys Ed teacher, Kent! Meg may have overstepped her bounds some, but it was with the best interests of his child at heart! I also really didn't care for how he couldn't let his deceased wife Angie go, even though he was fully aware that he was falling in love with Meg.
Meg was a very kind and caring individual, though a bit naïve at times, especially when it comes to her mother and Kent himself. I found I could really identify with her! I liked how she made it a point to say at one point that she didn't want to take Angie's place in Vance and Cammy's hearts, she wanted her own unique place in their hearts because she was a different person than Angie was.
The religious aspect wasn't preachy in this story, more like woven into the daily lives of the characters, as if to say that it was a natural thing to each of them. I especially liked how Meg found her way back to her religious roots in this story!
Overall, the book was interesting enough to read once or twice, but I'm not sure it would reach comfort read status for me.
I didn’t like this book from the beginning. At first I couldn’t get into the book, then there were the four Ds (divorce, drugs, dating, drinking). A little swearing, advances, hotheads, step families. A little bit of everything.
I may have given it four stars if their physical relationship hadn’t developed so fast. It was nothing bad, but kissing after only two months of knowing each other, never even been on a date is kind of weird.
A sweet love story set in Kentucky. I enjoyed it. Of course, you knew from the start how it would end, but that's how all romance stories go. This was a good Christian novel.
I adore this series! This book was no exception. Meg is a gal who leaves Chicago and a failed relationship to move to Miracle, Kentucky. She moves in with her grandma, Grams, who is her father’s mother. Meg hopes to build her bond with her grandmother and her Dad and his new family. She is also starting a job at a local school. Upon arriving in Miracle, she meets one of her new students, Cammy, and her dad, Vance. Cammy is wheelchair bound but that doesn’t seem to slow her down at all. Cammy also decides that her Dad and Meg need to date. Meg also meets Leah, a fellow teacher, who becomes a wonderful friend to Meg. Leah invites Meg to Bible study. Meg throughout the course of this book rebuilds her faith with some encouragement from Grams and Leah. She also finds a home among the town which is important since she was constantly on the move with her mother.
Meg hasn't had a lot of luck at love. After a nasty breakup, she moves to Miracle, Kentucky needing a fresh start. There she meets Cammy, a girl in the elementary school class she teaches. She also meets Vance, Cammy's intriguing (and very available) father. Romance ensues.
Honestly this is a very standard romance. Meet cute, adorable daughter complicating matters. Happy Ever After seeming impossible until it isn't. Sorry folks, this isn't one to hunt for, but if you spot a copy and want a light read with a positive Christian message, it's perfect for that all the way down the the Hallmark ending.
This was a fantastic Contemporary Christian fiction book, and series starter! My physical copies and reading through the Love Finds You series has begun! This story took place in Miracle, KY; and was completely believable. The characters were heartwarming as well, and although the end included a wonderful HEA, this could totally be the start of a series by the author!
This is a sweet story of Meg reconnecting with family, finding God, and discovering love. There were some bumps along the way ends on a positive note. I did enjoy the character interactions, particularly Meg and her grandmother, and Meg and young Cammy. I was rooting for the romance, but the timeline felt too quick based on the fact that a widow and a child were involved.
I needed to read a feel good book after reading an intense Christian suspense series. I found this to be the perfect book. This was a new author for me and I am looking forward to read more of her books.
Absolutely loved this book!! I had no idea it was part of a large series when I borrowed it from the library. Now I will have to seek out more to mix in my TBR pile. I want to live in a place like Miracle!!
A charming, easy read that’s a slice of southern comfort! I loved the small town of Miracle and the way Meg’s Grams just felt like “home”. The romance was sweet and reminiscent of a Hallmark movie in the best way.
I needed to read a feel good book after reading a book on the Dust Bowl. It was a nice, light read with no big surprises or conflicts. If you are looking for a relaxing, uncomplicated book with a happy ending this is it
Love Finds You in Miracle, Kentucky is one of the many books (50+) in the Love Finds You series. Love Finds You is a Christian Romance series where each book features a different character, in a different time, and place. Mostly they are women moving to a small town with a quirky name, the women are almost always starting over in a small town where they know nobody and then they end up falling in love. That was the case with LFY in Miracle, Kentucky. Actually, that's the case with most Christian Romances...
In this book, the main character is Meg Jorgensson. Meg just broke up with her poet boyfriend who she was living in Chicago with, where she was a teacher at an inner-city school. She decides to move in with her grandma (who she doesn't know very well) to start a new life away from her toxic boyfriend. She gets a position teaching at a small charter school in Miracle where she meets Vance and Cammy Bayer. Vance is a single dad and Cammy is his disabled, wheelchair-bound daughter.
Cammy really wants Meg and her dad to date and she would love to have her favorite teacher as as a new mom (hers died in the car accident that paralyzed her). Cammy is really pushy and sneaky when it comes to setting up her dad and teacher, which most people might find cute. It was a bit to Hallmark Channel for me. Way too sappy. Disabled child plays matchmaker for her dad and teacher? Blah.
I don't really know the though process behind me choosing this LFY book to read. I mean, I know what it was, I thought, "I own a lot of these that I still haven't read, I know! I'll read them in chronological order from the time they were published!". I probably should have just read whichever I really felt like reading, probably one of the historical ones which are usually my favorite (I'm not a big contemporary romance person). This one was just too cheesy with the whole disabled daughter, it was too Southern too. Kentucky is just not really a state that I have ever had interest in reading about. I'm have pretty much no interest in the life of a person who listens to country music, that whole "redneck" lifestyle. Even though, the main character wasn't a country girl and country life sounds a bit pleasant, they're just not really at the top of the list for subcultures I'm intrigued by (typically I find the whole "redneck" attitude obnoxious).
But, once I really started reading the book it went by pretty fast. It was a cute story and I actually liked the main character, Meg, a lot. She was smart and had a good moral compass (despite the fact she actually didn't start going to church until after she moved to Kentucky- gasp! Scandalous!). She also was realistic enough for a woman her age. I'm going to give Love Finds You in Miracle, Kentucky 3 out of 5 stars.
From the very first Love Finds You book I read , I fell instantly in love with the series as it does do as the series suggests Love does find you wherever you are when you read the books , if not romantic love then it's the love of the characters , the love of finding a series that you really enjoy and don't want to put down , a love of finding a new author to explore or a love of reuniting you with a favourite author or simply a love of the book that when you read it - you go wow and you feel relaxed, happy , peaceful and ecstatic at the same time. Love Finds You in Miracle, Kentucky is the 3rd book in the Love Finds You Series I have read and like the previous two I simply LOVED it. Set in a contemporary time, we meet Meggie Jorgenson - she has been living in a dead-end relationship with poet boyfriend Dillon , a guy with his Master's degree. She is feeling like she cannot escape, when help comes in the form of a phone call from her Grandma with the opportunity of a new job doing what she loves - teaching children at the local school. Meggie, needing to escape accepts the job and the story begins with her new life in Miracle, Kentucky. Meggie, has always felt starved of receiving family love and affection so when her Grandma opens up her house and arms wide, Meggie starts to feel peace and more love in the short time than she has ever had in her 26yrs of life. Meggie is soon introduced around the town and captures the attention of wheelchair bound Cammy whose 8yrs old and her father Vance. Though it's not just Vance that has his eyes set on Meggie and vice versa. When Meggie's grandma invites her father and his new family over , Meggie is prepared for unhappiness but is it time to start fresh and embrace the family she has always had. When trouble strikes and Meggie's mum Tricia ends up in Miracle begging her to go with her to Arizona. Will Meggie jump at the chance to escape the small-town of Miracle or has the town done just that -played a Miracle and changed Meggie's life for the better ? Another wonderful installment of the series and I say, if you ever get a chance to read the entire series or even just one or two books in the Love Finds You Series, you will not be disappointed.
Saw this book on a Goodreads suggestion list for me and decided to read it based strictly on it being based in a town called Miracle, Kentucky. Yes, Miracle is a real town in Kentucky, tho its pronounced "Merkel". Its a good, enjoyable Christian book ... with prayer and a Womens Weekly Bible Study so casually written it, they're a natural fit for the book. Meg moves to Miracle, Ky to start her life and teaching career over after a long series of moves with her divored mother and a failed relationship. Meg's Grams and remarried dad Paul (whom she doesn't have a relationship with) live in Miracle. She meets and befriends two teachers - Leah who thinks she's in love with military penpal Dave and Kent, who's also starting his life and career over at the charter school. She also meets Vance Bayer and his handicapped daughter Cammy. Cammy is in Megs class and Kent's Phys Ed class. Nicely written, woven story, with a hint of another love relationship between Grams and her best friend Tom. Enjoyable, pleasant book.
This is the first book I have read in the Love Finds You series. Each one takes place in a different city in the country. This one takes place in Miracle, Kentucky. It's about a young woman named Meg who has moved to Miracle, from Chicago, Illinois. She left a dead-end job and a failed relationship, all in hopes of finding a new life in the small town. She stays with her grandmother and starts a new teaching job. One of her students is a disabled little girl named Cammy. Cammy takes an immediate liking to her when she meets Meg. Meg also meets Cammy's dad Vance. Vance is a widow trying to still come to terms with his wife's accident that killed her and paralyzed his daughter. Almost immediately Cammy gets it in her head that she wants her dad and Meg to get together. Throughout the story they do spend a lot of time together and become friends. They both even deal with the same difficult people. Toward the end, miracles really do start to happen. This story was so heartfelt and moving, as was the main characters. I plan to read more books in the series.
At first I wasn't really getting into this book. It is about a young woman who suddenly leaves her home in Chicago after living with a man who is unfaithful. She goes to Kentucky where her grandmother, father, and half-siblings live. It was nothing like the life she had, but it was growing on her, and God was grabbing at her life too. She meets a man named Vance and his handicapped daughter Cammy and starts to really enjoy being around them. This story doesn't really shine too much light on how God changes her, but is about the relationships she makes while in Kentucky. It was pretty good, though still on my "least favorite" Love Finds You book list.
Andrea Boeshaar is a new to me author and I really enjoyed this LFY novel. The story revolves around Meg who finds her life in Chicago is a muddle both career wise and romantically. A new teaching position in Miracle Kentucky and a chance to live with her grandmother is the beginning of a second chance at life. The other characters in the story each also get second chances in different areas of their lives. The author did a wonderful job of connecting the characters as well as their second chances.
This is another one that my mom gave to me. I liked this one a little better than the last one. A young woman moves in with her grandmother to get away from an abusive relationship and she starts a new job in the school district. There is a young paralyzed child in her class that she quickly and easily falls in love with. She also finds herself attracted to the young girls father. It was a sweet story with a happy ending. It was easy to read with several easy to like characters.
This was a nice, light read with no big surprises or conflicts. If you are looking for a relaxing, uncomplicated book with a happy ending this might be the one for you. The story was told from 4 different perspectives at times (Meg's, Cammy's, Vance's and the grandma's)which was a little annoying to me but it didn't keep me from finishing.
As a fan of the Steeple Hill romance line, you might want to take a look at the Love Finds You series. This line of inspirational romances are each set in a real-life location, and feature a fun and clean romance.
