Ever since her last relationship ended in heartbreak, things have been going downhill for romance novelist Aurora Kane. Determined to revive Aurora's career, her publisher Donovan Tate decides to take matters into his own hands.

Upon visiting Aurora at home and finding her wallowing in misery, Donovan makes it clear that he will be taking charge of her life, whether she likes it or not. When she tests his resolve, he does not hesitate to bare her bottom and spank her hard and thoroughly, and she cannot help begging for more as Donovan brings her to a quivering, shameful climax after the punishment.

Donovan's bold dominance and masterful lovemaking rekindle Aurora's passion and inspire her writing in a way nothing else has before, but painful memories of the past still lurk in her mind. Can she dare to hope that this love story will have a happy ending?

Publisher's Rewriting the Rules contains spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

When Cali has a earthquake and you just stay up to read lol. So read this one.. pretty fast pace and steamy.

This one was just okay for me. Wasn't to bad or didn't hate it few things that had me going "maybe you shouldn't have done that Donavon" in 3.5 seconds within meeting her. Because well consent. But yes Donavon is the boss and has notice one of his clients has been well not been good for some years.. so he's taking over, Aurora had a horrible break up and that crushed her sub mood and its been effecting her life, work and mood.. like few times I did wanna smack her myself.. she was very brat like alot like ALOT!! I got the reason why she acted out but I did wish she would have talked to someone (its been 4 years lol) and yes when she was being rude to Donavon first meeting he did punish her which she fought and said no since they don't know one another. (Only over email)
But beside that he was a good dom he showed her he would never leave her earned that trust and got her right back on track. And had a show down with the ex dom that caused her all that drama.

No ow drama slight om drama (ex dom), no cheating, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins or manhwore celebite

❤~🌟~❤ 3.5 TORRID STARS!❤~🌟~❤

REWRITING THE RULES by Morganna Williams was a SIZZLING HOT listen that had me squirming in delight!

THE STORY:
Erotic romance writer extraordinaire, Aurora Kane, is angry and bitter and has secluded herself in her home after having her heart—and confidence--shattered to smithereens by a past Dom. She has lost her spark for life and her writing mojo but all is not lost because her big, dark and dominantly sexy publisher Donovan Tate comes barging into her life determined to help her get out of her funk. And this stern, itchy palmed, no nonsense man has some mighty wicked techniques to get her to STOP MOPING and return to the world of the living!

While at first, Aurora rebels at his high handed methods, and pushes back—HARD!—she realizes rather quickly that she is no match for this gorgeously domineering man. And even though Donovan realizes he has his hands full with this temperamental writer with the far too saucy mouth and all those luscious, mouthwatering curves, he is hopelessly beguiled by the curvy beauty all the same. As it turns out, Ms. Kane is a “mass of contradictions.” After all, how can she fight him so fiercely while at the same time her body clings to his and yields so sweetly? And although deep down Aurora is terribly afraid to love, laugh and feel, Donovan knows somewhere in there is a fierce sub begging to be set free. And, sure, it takes a lot of patience—and plenty of punishing--on his part, but Donovan soon has her aching for his hot burning dominance and quivering for his tender loving possession! But can his non-negotiable formula for reviving her writing…and reigniting her heart…include a lifelong contract for love?

MY MUSINGS:
Holy smokes! Talk about a scintillating audio that commands attention from start to finish! REWRITING THE RULES is oozing with scintillating sexy times, panty melting hot spankings, aching tenderness, and lots of smoldering sparks!

I really enjoyed the setup where the strong and stern and doting hero is determined to help release the heroine, a burned out erotic romance writer with a heart full of hurt, from her self-imposed exile! And along the way he brings out the naughty little vixen in her! Overall, I thought the author did a really good job with this story, where we have this defiant yet emotionally vulnerable sub who is hungry for her new editor/Dom’s masterful touch AND his firm yet loving discipline. He stirs something inside her and over time she thrives in the structured, nurturing environment he provides for her. He ultimately proves to be her safe haven, just as she ends up being his, and through Donovan’s loving guidance he helps his precious girl heal, body and soul.

Aurora and Donovan have RED-HOT CHEMISTRY and I found the kinky interludes incredibly arousing. And holy smokes! Donovan is a SEX MACHINE! This hunky Dom’s sexual appetite is INSATIABLE, and I loved how he unapologetically charges into Aurora’s life and lays down the law—whether she likes it or not. And of course the bratty sub tests his limits at every turn, pushing him into meting out his stern brand is punishment/pain. All for her benefit of course! But even though he is a filthy talking hornball who does some very diabolical things to his disobedient little sub, I love how much he cares for her and deep down his intentions are always honorable. (Well mostly, hee hee!) And I LOVED that he has a bit of a warm and cuddly Daddy Dom in him as well!

That said, I had some difficulty connecting emotionally with this couple, especially at the beginning, due to the lack of romantic buildup prior to the sex. (I think Donovan delivered his first spanking/screaming O within five minutes of meeting Aurora and then followed it up with another spanking/seduction scene shortly thereafter!) This gives new definition to the term “Fast Burn” ha-ha!) And although, as I mentioned, I found the erotica in this story to be INCREDIBLY titillating, I thought the plot and romantic development came at the expense of the plethora of torrid sex. Their relationship, for the most part, seemed to be carnal in nature, and perhaps if the author had showed things down a tad and played out more emotional/romantic beats, it would have made the story even more rewarding!

Those issues aside, however, there is no denying Morganna Williams is an incredibly talented erotic romance scribe. And I LOVED the ending at the club where the heroine finally puts her demons to rest and gets her heartfelt HEA with Donovan! This author sure can pen a highly sensual, uber addictive tale featuring an overpoweringly sexy Alpha Dom who makes his feisty sub melt like butter! And for that I am totally GRATIFIED!

THE NARRATION:
This story was wonderfully narrated by Jack Calihan. He delivered a pitch perfect performance of Donavan Tate. His deeply masculine, velvety smooth and commanding tone suited this character’s take-charge persona to a T! And Mr. Calihan’s narration of Aurora was highly entertaining as well. But let’s get “real” here…we listen to this sub-genre for the hot alpha Doms and “Donovan” left me all aflutter. And OMG every time he crooned “good girl” he had me positively BEGGING to submit!

I look forward to listening to more entertaining audios by this awesome author and narrator!

🔥Steamy scenes! 🔥

Rewriting the Rules by Morganna Williams is an erotic novella about a reclusive, submissive, writer who is taken to task by her Dominant editor.

Content Warning: There's an issue regarding lack of consent at the beginning of this story. It's a fairly common problem in D/s erotica with DD/lg undertones, but Aurora's definitive refusal regarding some of Donovan's advances does make the protagonists' initial meeting a bit uncomfortable and may cross the line for some.

This book is a brief fantasy with an HEA; a Cinderella story of sorts, only this time the princess doesn't spend any less time on her knees than she did before she was rescued!

Like Aurora's own work when Donovan takes over as her editor, the writing could do with a little bit of polish but it doesn't interfere with the story. (Though I'd be perfectly happy if we could outlaw the use of the word "weeping" for anything other than wounds or sobbing, because it never sounds attractive when used in an intimate context.) As with many books in this genre it isn't intended to be especially literary, and the important part is that the sensual scenes are colourful and the intensity between the characters builds throughout.

Reviewing erotica is always tough because preferences are so individual, but I would have liked the story to include more scenes from Donovan's perspective, describing his desire and pleasure in greater detail instead of the focus being almost exclusively on Aurora's. Also, I wasn't particularly keen on the pigtails-at-the-zoo section of this audiobook, as that starts to creep a bit too much toward feeling like littles age-play, which is an instant turn-off for me.

Jack Calihan has quite a talent for narrating naughty books, and once again lends Williams' words an enticing richness and depth. He always performs with plenty of enthusiasm, and the results speak for themselves. Calihan is especially adept at conveying the smouldering yet controlled passion of an experienced Dom, bringing these brusque and brooding men to life time and again. I was particularly pleased to hear him purr his trademark "good girl", (which I may also have mentioned in my review of Her Stern Doctor) and is always a highlight.

This novella could be a good place to start for anyone wanting to understand more about the scene, as it explains much of Donovan's behaviour as a good Dom and contrasts it with her previous bad experiences as a sub. I'd also recommend it to anyone who enjoys the themes mentioned in the summary and review (which I have to skirt around to spare my newsletter recipients' blushes).

BDSM Romance

I enjoyed reading Donovan and Aurora's story. Aurora was a best selling author and submissive turned recluse after a terrible experience with a former Dom. After reading Aurora's blog and witnessing her writing taking a dive, Donovan inserts himself into her life and sets out to prove he is just the Dom she needs. This was a great story but Morganna. I loved Aurora's sass and I have to admit i laughed out load during the mashed potatoes shenanigans! Donavan was just was Aurora needed. He brought her back to herself, allowing her to be sassy and bratty, in a safe place with a Dom that would reign her in if she got too out of control. This was my first book by this author and I will definitely read more!

Aurora is an romance author whose writing has gone stale. Donovan, her publisher has the solution to jump start her career again. What a fun listen this one is! If you love a little daddy dom, some spanking and passionate scenes, this book will definitely fit the bill. Aurora is a complex woman. While at times I found her brattiness tiresome, I knew it was a defense mechanism to protect herself. Once we find out her story, it all makes sense as to why she is in the state she is in. Donovan is overpowering. His alpha protectiveness and ability to know what Aurora needs is the key. I love his character, though his instalove is a little surprising. I would have liked the two to get to know each other a little more outside of their sexual relationship. The two have intense chemistry and it's a hot listen. Narrated by Jack Calihan, his voice is good for the alpha male. At times I found it hard to distinguish his female voice, but for the most part, his performance was pure entertainment.

Aurora Kane’s writing has become stale, and she was never seen by her editors that’s when Donovan Tate decided to take a personal interest in her and become her editor, Aurora is not happy because he kept trying to meet with her in person until one day he showed up at her house and she realize she was in trouble for her submissive self recognized his dominant and she wanted to submit. Aurora had another surprise coming when she called her former editor to try to get Donovan removed she was informed Donovan was just not her editor but boss he owns a publishing company. Donovan had read her online journal finding out that her last Dom not only abused her but had crushed her spirit. Can Donovan not only revive her career but heal and awaken her spirit and show her that she’s worthy to be loved and cherished. Will Aurora learn to trust again and except Donovan and let him rewrite the rules and fully submit to him and his love into rejoin the living.

This story really made me think about what being a submissive really means. I think that what a submissive thinks is love is not the definition of love, but of a need inside her. Although I don't approve of this kind of lifestyle, I now have a better understanding from the submissive's point of view. I agree the wrong type of male can do a lot of mental damage, but my understanding is that it's dangerous to just let anyone have this kind of control. For me, this is not a love story, but an emotional relationship that describes what goes on between the Dom and the submissive emotionally, and how it feeds a need inside that person. The story is excellent in itself. The use of a male narrator was an excellent idea, and it wasn't as shocking with the vulgarity coming from a male's voice.

Aurora is a brat. She is sassy. She needs someone to help her get disciplined. That is exactly what Donovan attempts to do. This book is steamy and full of spankings. Punishments seem to be the way Aurora can calm down and focus. Donovan is a harsh Dom that enjoys creating those punishments. Between the spankings, is a lot of hot steamy scenes that will melt any Kindle.

Jack Calihan narrates this story wonderfully. I enjoyed his bratty and sassy narration of Aurora. Mr. Calihan makes Donovan the strong, alpha he is described as. Mr. Calihan's narration enhanced this story and brought the characters to life.

Aurora is a bestselling erotic fiction author whose works have gone downhill in the past few years. She is a submissive whose ex-dom tried to suppress her personality and blasted her self-esteem to shreds. Donovan owns her publishing company and takes over as her editor. As a dom himself, he recognizes her as a submissive. He does some research and discovers why she is sliding downhill. He helps her find her lost self-worth and teaches her to glory in her submissiveness without tamping down and denying her personality. This is a great love story and a wonderful romance.

Rewriting the Rules by Morganna Williams was a quick hot dom/sub story about the hazards of losing ourselves at one point or another during our lives. About how important it is not to deny the things someone needs. Let it be as simple as a material thing or as complex as a human relationship. Every lost ship need and deserve a lighthouse to help them find their way ashore.

Jack Calihan did a splendid job. His narration was well paced, clean and understandable. Top recording quality too.

Aurora gets her groove back. Donovan was the typical arrogant Dom and he had a method to his madness which worked well to inspire Aurora to write better and enhanced her sub qualities. I loved the club scene with ex Dom. Lol. Sweet ending. The narrator made me feel like I was a voyeur and I loved it. Audible is magnificent.

I listened to the audio book.

A wonderful D/s Insta love story. I enjoyed the story and the narration. Aurora is a erotica author who lost her mojo and Donovan becomes her publisher but also is determined to become the Dom she needs to get her groove back. Loved the sex club scene where she get to confront the Dom who made her doubt herself.

Great

The book was well written and a great love story with a fierce, sexy, and extremely living make hero. Also, the story was an actual love story without the extra sad and unrelated backstory about any sexual or physical abuse from either character. Just a SEXY and fun novel.
