High school isn't the easiest experience for some. You just have to muddle through and try to make the right decisions. Bex carter is living with her aunt and her family. On the first day back at school she is embarrassed by one of her cousins and the school year takes a downwards spiral from there.

Bex has her priorities straight and with that she steps into a new adventure.
Of course almost nothing goes as planned so she adapts and makes the best of it.
I love that she’s not such a girlie girl, there are already so many books about them.
Even with what happened to her she trusts her gut feeling and that is awesome!
After reading the teaser for the next book I know I’ll want to read that too.
I received a copy from Hidden Gems and this is my honest and voluntary review

It is a light read, still not a good one. There is a lot of issues regarding this book, so I will put them in points:
1) This is supposed to be about Bex Carter experience as she starts high school. We are told that it starts on a horrible note, but not much happen. This is basically it for the whole book. Every problem Bex is about to face gets solved before it is even explored or for you to feel anything toward the character. All her problems are solved easily to the point where it's not realis ...more

Bex wants to do well in high school but there are problems. She lives with her aunt and uncle who have three kids, all of them nasty. She wants to be on the school's soccer team but she manages to make the team captain angry. Seems Bex knows better plays to use and the captain wants nothing of that.
She likes a boy named Lucas but her aunt says she can't date anyone until she is twenty-one. (Some one's really out of touch with reality there.) There's also a girl who is the subject of bullying, a ...more

How Not to do High School was a quick read and very appropriate for freshman in high school. Many of the things Bex talks about are very often things any new student has to deal with at high school. I like that she used the story to address so many high school issues. It is very hard going from a small middle school to a big high school. Many students have no idea what to expect or what to do. This book gives them a heads up to what could happen and how they could respond.
