A humorous and honest guide to eliminating sugar from your diet. For good. Quitting sugar in the real world is hard. Sugar is everywhere and your friends think you’re mad for not eating cake. You’ve done the 8 week detox plan and part of you still craves chocolate so much that you develop a mild twitch when you see a brightly coloured wrapper on the shelves in front of you. Deeply addictive, sugar is everywhere. Even added to the most unlikely foods, the majority of us exceed the recommended daily intake without even realising it. Instead of teaching you how to cook fake cake, or pretending that quinoa really is an exciting grain that will revolutionise your view on salads, this book guides you through the myths about sugar in our food and through the realities of addiction. The 9 step action plan then helps you make the change and really stick to it. Even if you’re not quite ready to eliminate all sugar from your life, this book contains practical tips to help you shop wisely, create good habits and sustain better lifestyle choices. The paperback edition includes blank pages and examples to help you analyse your behaviours and face up to your bad habits, allowing you to document your journey to a sugar-free lifestyle.

From Amazon Prime - I'm thinking maybe not quit sugar entirely but at least cut back a bit! A short read and some intereting points but I think I'd need to read a bit further to be able to fully embrace the concept. Also, I don't think my husband and kids will be signing up for this type of regeime.
Great little book. Made me laugh out loud a few times too 😁 Nice and informative and pretty compelling - this is a great starter book, now I want to read a bit more of the science to really understand it 🤓
Easy, accessible and informative, this little book will lay out steps to do 'the unthinkable' - eliminate sugar from your diet. This is not a diet book, nor does it claim to be able to wave a magic wand to get rid of those nagging sugar cravings (sadly) or have any recipes to kick-start your journey. What it does have is some great ideas, laid out in a fun and realistic way to help you consider the ramifications of sugar on your health (it's literally in everything), and the steps you can take to remove it from your diet.
Like Sherri, I've been on a sugar-free journey before and fallen off the wagon plenty of times during it (currently in an extended 'off' period) and know it's not as easy as it sounds. You have to be focused and organised. You CAN make delicious, filling and quick food, and you definitely have to be gentle with yourself as you go. But it's worth it.
Just like this little book! Recommended as a non-jargon filled, fun and sensible read for those curious and committed to change.
I just finished the book and love the advices and her writing style. She made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I read a dozen of diet books and always finished them feeling too overwhelmed to start applying. This book is different, it makes things simple to start. I believe that eliminating sugar is the first most important chance for your health, so this book is really perfect. After my body gets used to live without sugar for good, I can go for a next change like going grains free, for example, if I think I need. I’m very excited to start the new lifestyle. And I hope I remember to update this review in a couple of months to tell you about the results I had.
Interesting and informative little book, written in an approachable conversational style. The author identifies some of the myths surrounding food and diet marketing and how sugar is actually in so much of what we think of as healthy food. Then she gives you a no-frills plan for kicking the addiction.
Very interesting read and it will push me to make the leap to sugar free for my health and my kids health. It's really time everyone took a stand on sugar and the shady practices of the multi-million pound companies who hide sugar everywhere and market it as healthy
I've been an advocate of trying to dispel the low fat myth with family and friends, due to the sugar added and this book reaffirmed this. This book has helped kick start my determination to cut back on the sweet treats that so easily build up, from 'treat' day at the weekend, to having a chocolate bar nearly every day.
After giving up sugar over the last 5years this was so refreshing to find a straight forward book without the science (well too much) I have recommended to all my friend will continue to refresh myself it's so easy to be drawn back into the evil sugar world
Never gave it a thought about what sugar was in what products. This book has opened my eyes. My good wife has bad sugar levels, after reading this book I hope I can help her reduce her sugar, and get things better. Dam good read
This is a good insight into sugar and how it affects our bodies. Very easy to read and understand. Exceptionally practical. I will read it again and again on my sugar free life change!
Succinct, easy intro to the concepts. Feels more like a long blog post rather than a book. Not especially well written or researched, but a whistlestop tour from the perspective of one person. Enjoyable and interesting but nothing original or deeply insightful.
This book is for any one who wants a simple, clear message and easy to follow guidance. A short practical book with advice that is easily understood. Would recommend!
Very quick read available from prime lending library. I imagine it would be very useful if you were thinking of going sugar free; good mix of tips and practicalities with a bit of light science.
A clear and easy read. Hope it has set me up right to get started, I certainly feel better informed on what to expect and how to approach it in general.
Loved the way this was written, not one of those dry and dusty fact books. It's definitely not easy to avoid sugar, it's in pretty much everything unless you make everything from scratch.
An excellent read with the right balance between tips, science and humour. I can certainly understand how I have a sugar addiction and whilst I can't say I'm now completely sugar free, it most definitely makes me think twice about the foods that I eat and where to avoid the hidden sugars. Having read recent news and health reports on this topic in the last week it's a very timely subject.
This is a good quick read for someone such as myself contemplating going sugar free. I think the author did what she set out to do: kept things simple, understandable, and realistic.
