My son and I read this book together, we both feel confused after reading. I know the book is only for first readers to build their confidence, however it has a strong he/she problem. Mabel the cat was a “She” when she helped Sam against the bully, at the end of story, it said “He’s such a pussycat”. Also, at beginning the story said “Rosie and Sam Had a new pet” then shouldn’t the next page say “His/her name is Mabel”, no, it said “Mabel is tiny.” Good, we figured out the name of the cat is Mabel, but not in a good way. The story is not continuous, need more work.
Another cute "learning to read" book about Sam the dog. This time his adventure revolves around Mabel, the new kitty in his household. They team up against a neighborhood bully dog and become good friends.
