Sara Harvey has written a detailed and glorious love letter to New York City. Starting with a simple and stunning premise, she lays out through her characters the breathtaking beauty that she found in her years living in Manhattan.

The spectre of 9/11 is laced throughout the book, never addressed directly but always through hints and shadows, like Perseus approaching Medusa through her reflection in his shield. Always, though, the book returns to a story about two souls finding boundless love in, and for, the greatest city in the world.

This is a great cross genre book. It elegantly blends a fantastic love story and fantasy elements in modern day New York.

A travelogue of New York City, a love story, and a fantasy all rolled into one.

Picked this up at a used book store because the cover and blurb intrigued me.

A different kind of love story and it was quite lovely!

And spending a year in New York with these characters was wonderful!

I read about a quarter of this book and couldn't read any more. It was just too silly. Maybe a YA reader might like it.
