What an awesome new series! I've had this book since it came out, but since the second book was released today, I wanted to be sure I read this one first. There's another really awesome cat in this story. I just love when the cats like people loving on them, and they do cute or even heroic things. Trouble, the cat in this story, was definitely a hero!

Colbie Summers and her 12-year-old son Elliott had moved to Sunnyside CA to be with her dad who had never totally recovered from pneumonia. Colbie

So cute! This is the first book in a new series. Colbie summers is a wonderful amateur sleuth who is working on building her organic cat food line. Her cat Trouble is quite a character. Solving this mystery is going to be a challenge with so many suspects. After reading this, I'm intrigued enough to want to read the next book. It took me a bit to warm up to Colbie and the setting, but I think this will be a nice addition to the cozy mystery genre. ...more

This was a very enjoyable read for the first in a new series. I enjoyed the main character Colbie Summers. She is a single mom trying to raise her son, take care of her dad and expand her gourmet cat food business. During the course of all of this she is the number one suspect in a murder and has to try and clear her name. I found her character to be very likable and genuine. She wasn't reckless or impulsive in her sleuthing. The secondary cast of characters includes her son, her dad, and her be ...more

The Trouble with Murder is a delightful start to Kathy Krevat’s Gourmet Cat Mystery series. The storyline is well plotted, the characters are well developed and relatable, and it’s filled with humor. Not only is there and intriguing mystery, but a strong message about the importance of family and friends. Twists and turns, plus plenty of plausible suspects, keep the reader engaged. I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.

I really do love a good cozy mystery. In this one, Colbie has moved back to her hometown of Sunnyside to help out her dad. Her son, Elliott, is excited about summer camp. There's a handsome neighbor, Joss, whose rooster (Charlie) keeps escaping and ringing Colbie's doorbell.

And then there's Colbie's gourmet, organic cat food business (Meowio Batali), featuring her cat Trouble on the label. There's a deal in the works with one of the local organic groceries, and this is going to be a big help in

I given this book from Goodreads Giveaways in return for a honest review.

I liked this story. The characters seems very human and likeable. I liked getting to know Colbie and how she felt about the people in her life. She made the whole story seem plausible. You felt like you were right there with her as she went about trying to figure out who the killer was.

THE TROUBLE WITH MURDER by Kathy Krevat is the first book in the brand new Gourmet Cat Mystery series and a terrific start! The protagonist, Colbie Summers, is very likeable. Unlike the majority of cozy mystery heroines who are young, and footloose, Colbie is single, but also a mother to a pre-teen son. This brings a depth of reality and seriousness to the story along with a greater sense of danger when a child is threatened. It also adds to the depth of Colbie’s character with the interaction b ...more
