A magical place steeped in mysticism. A foreboding place of unspeakable terror. The forest is a place of secrets, a place of knowledge, a place of death, and a place of life. What resides within its shadows? Demons, fair folk, that man the adults warned you about… and the trees. The trees are everywhere. Is it safer to stay at home? Or are you ready to take a journey… into the woods.

(Contributor review) 4.5 stars "Into the Woods" is a stunning anthology of sylvan stories that meets its objective of giving the reader suspenseful, mysterious, haunting, and troubling tales. Each narrative is distinct whilst perfectly fitting the chosen theme and intended atmosphere of the book. "St Erth" gives us a kind of "Lord of the Flies" for the whole family, "In the Hidden Hollow" summons primaeval forces, "In the Dirt, Under the Trees" is a thriller set in a village and feels chillingly like non-fiction, "Cord" is an old-world fable in colonial America. From frozen pine forests to tropical rainforests, this anthology explores the darkest and strangest corners of the Earth. You'd best be prepared before you venture into the woods. Who knows what you'll find!
The latest anthology of dark fiction from Hic Dragones delivers again. I rationed myself to two or three stories a day, and now I'm dreaming of the dark, dark woods and what dwells within them.
