Elvis the Rooster Almost Goes to Heaven

Rate this book
Elvis is a proud rooster. After all, his crows make the sun come up and wake the world. At least they did until the terrible morning that he swallowed a bug and the sun came up without him. Poor Elvis! Is he all washed-up? Is it over? Should he give up and simply pass on to the great chicken coop in the sky? Not if the chickens - Daniela, Gina, and Lia - can help it! The popular rooster from Denys Cazet's Minnie and Moo books proudly takes center stage in his first zany adventure.

A spin-off to the Minnie and Moo series, Elvis the Rooster is prepared to wake the farm and cue the sun's rise. After a bug issue, he is unable to crow and the sun rises all on its own. Elvis turns to self-pity and queries if he is needed. The other animals must help boost his ego and assist in finding his 'pluck'. Neo liked that the whole gang helped out, but is sure the sun does not need a rooster.

Elvis the Rooster fails to crow at sunrise one day and worries he'll never be useful again. This was a funny story and I liked that it was set on the same farm as other Denys Cazet books.

Rocky the duck saves the day in this children's picture book. The problem is Elvis' Rooster pride getting in the way of him being himself. So when he stays in bed waiting to die because he thinks he's lost his purpose, his friend Rocky gets all the chickens rallied together to help Elvis get his "pluck" or was it "cluck" back.
One thing that caught my attention was the chapter book format for the newly independent reader. In this book a child can demonstrate to themselves their ability to read whole chapters while learning how to take care of others.

Allie - This book made me giggle out loud. A funny story about a rooster named Elvis who thinks his life is over because he swallowed a bug and was unable to crow at the sun as it rose one morning. His friends find him very sad because he feels useless as a rooster who "might as well be a cow". His caring friends make a plan to help Elvis get his "pluck" back.

From the same author of Minnie and Moo, this children's book is packed full of humour.
