Lauren was content with being single and created a blog to help others in their quests for singleness and dating. She felt her blog was getting stale and brainstormed ideas on how to meet guys. One idea was to look for gentlemen the eating alone at restaurants and strike up conversations with them and join them in the meal.
Trevor and his year long term relationship, Mariah, went to a fabulous restaurant with hopes of engagement that evening. Trevor couldn't convince himself that this was the "one". So he broke up with her before the meals were sent to the table.
He decided that since he ordered his meal, he would eat it. In walks Lauren and sits down and strikes up a conversation with him. They begin talking and the conversation was easy between them.
Lauren posted to the blog the success of the Table for One idea and mentioned him in the post since they didn't exchange numbers.
Another idea was to have a game night for their apartment building to get to know the other tenants. Trevor's friend lived in the same apartment building and asked him to come along since Trevor was pining away for Lauren.
Things progress nicely over lemonades. They both discover they share Christian beliefs.
****I don't want to give away the total story, but this is an excellent, inspirational quick summer read. I totally recommend this novella.

It's nice to read about good Christian singles in their 30's, but I would like the stories to be longer. It felt very fluffy and high level happy - no real life anguish and struggle.
Trevor Stockton is a simple man, an engineer, a “jack of all trades, master of none.” Freelance writer and blogger, Lauren Allred has lost the passion she once had for her weekly posts celebrating her single status. It is time for a change, time to recreate her blog with a new series. “For the next month, she will try one idea each week and then blog about her experiences and the outcomes.” While Trevor changes the course of his life, in one fateful evening, two impulsive acts lead to a “chance encounter.” The chemistry is instantaneous between Trevor and Lauren, as their friendship grows they find that love can happen anytime, anywhere if your heart is open and you trust in God.
This is a novella, and I'd gladly have read a full-length story about these characters. Lauren, who writes a blog dedicated to enjoying the single life, decides to invite herself to dine with a young man eating alone in a fancy restaurant. Trevor had taken his longtime girlfriend there, intending to propose, but instead he broke up with her. This clean romance features believable characters and dialogue that feels natural, though it's a bit heavy-handed with its Christian angle. I'll look for more from this author.
A sweet faith-based contemporary Christmas novella that shows what could happen when two people take a chance on love.
Trevor Stockton is a 38 year old engineer who ends a long term relationship wondering if he can truly find love again.
Lauren Allred is a 36 year old single blogger at Table for One. One night she takes her own advice and tries a new idea to meet other singles. She invited herself to join Trevor at a meal in a nearby restaurant.
Slowly their relationship blooms and blossoms. You will be cheering for a happy ending for this couple.
I stopped reading at 20%. It seemed ridiculous that a Christian woman trying to inspire herself to write a better singles' blog would ask to join a man eating alone in a restaurant for that inspiration not knowing if he was married or single, Christian or not. Then she lies about her pretense for asking. That was enough for me.
This was a realistic, old-fashioned romance. True, Lauren wasn't upfront honest when she first asked to sit with Trevor and this could have gotten her into an undesirable situation. But once their relationship got off the ground --- as we knew it would as soon as the two characters were introduced --- they conducted it with propriety and honesty. You can envision a "happily ever after" for them.
I really enjoyed this book. Not only is this a good story, I also didn't have to dodge profanity bombs throughout. That made it even better. What a unique way to meet people - through blog suggestions. I plan to read more books by Ms. Atwood.
Inspiring romance touching on how singles may not always interact with others because of insecurities. The characters were relatable, believable and developed. The plot was a page turner with an unexpected resolve that I loved. Delightful summer read.
For a short story, it was really good!!!!! It have just enough detail and then got on with it. And the ending was great. Again, with just enough background it got on with the important part--the proposal, and the answer.
This book seemed a little outrageous in parts, but on the whole, it was very good. If you like love stories that are Christ-centered, you will love this one. I can’t wait to start the next book!
A wonderfully warm and hopeful Christian based romance! Unexpected love, proof that you should always trust your instincts, and if you can be patient love will happen when the time is right!
This was a great read with Trevor and Lauren. Trevor and Lauren were two complete strangers who met and fell in love in a month’s time. The heart wants what the heart wants when it’s the right time.
My only complaint is that the book was too short. I fell in love with the characters from the first word right to the last. A great read. She's an awesome author.
A good short story of love, but I would have enjoyed lingering longer. Many things were hinted about the characters, but never developed. Characters and storyline were introduced, but never enhanced. It seemed there was so much more to be written.
Lauren Allred started a blog to help single Christians be content with their status. To revitalize her blog she starts a new project, Table for One. The results make for hilarious reading and she finds something she didn't expect love. The author talks about taking delight in the Lord and he will give you your heart's desire and trust that his timing will be perfect. This is the book for those wanting to read a nice Christian romance.
Table for One: An Inspirational Romance is written by Leah Atwood. It is a cute romance and is short enough to read in one sitting. It is very realistic and has a Christian background. Trevor Stockton was all set to propose to his girlfriend, Mariah; but when she trashed another person’s proposal because the ring was too small, he knew she wasn’t the one for him. He decided to continue looking for the one special person to spend the rest of his life with. After Mariah had left the restaurant, he stayed behind to regroup and eat his dinner. There was no way he could make it easier on her. Lauren Allred wrote a blog called Table for One. She had started it to embrace her single status. She traveled and blogged about the ease in traveling when you were single and childless. However, now that she was thirty-six, she began to change her mind about being in a relationship and marriage. She decided to change her blog too and talk about unique ways to meet people of the opposite sex. She quickly made a list and then decided to try each of them out and see what happens. The first was to find a man eating alone in a restaurant and ask if she could join him. There was no time like the present to get this new idea started. She dressed quickly and left for a restaurant. Will Lauren’s idea help her meet people or will it backfire?
