On the outside, Ally has everything any teenager could want. She’s beautiful, popular, and athletic. She has the right friends, an adoring boyfriend, and the picture-perfect family.

Too bad it’s all a lie.

Every day she’s dying a little on the inside, drowning in everyone’s expectations and opinions, the weight of it all pulling her under.

She wants to do the unthinkable ..

Saving Me by Sadie Allen is a unique YA novel.

This story is centered around Ally, who is a depressed/suicidal hurdling high school student who gets severely injured in a race. Her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her best friend for three years, and a boy with a lip ring has a crush on her. There is endless drama on every page that makes me believe this book is the teenage version of a soap opera.

I'm not sure how I feel about it, because I think it's an intriguing story but I think there

She seemed to have it all, a confident teen with looks, poise, talent and a strong family support bond. For Ally, it was what went on behind the face she showed the world, what happened behind closed doors that brought her to the depths of despair. She had no real control over her life, everything was decided for her and she was to perform to the exacting standards set forth. The problem? Ally is a teen in crisis with nowhere to turn until one boy came into her life and gave her a reason to find ...more

I simply cannot find the right words to use in this review that will do Saving Me any justice. First I'll say that this is the first book I've read written by Sadie Allen and I loved every single moment of this story. You know that you have found the perfect book when you find that you can relate to the story and characters in such a way that it feels like the author could be retelling your own story. We are allowed access to the very soul of Ally, and we can feel her emotional despair, her hope ...more

“Sometimes, the bravest thing we choose is to be ourselves and live on our own terms.”

Wow, I love this book! A beautifully uplifting coming-of-age story with a vulnerable yet strong heroine that you cannot help but love, and an absolutely gorgeous YA romance that had my heart pounding, and a huge smile on my face. The synopsis makes this book sound super dark, which is misleading, so don’t let it turn you off! Yes, this book has some serious subject matter, but that’s just the starting p

On the outside Allison’s life seems perfect but it far from perfect. One fateful night Allison meets Sterling and things are never the same again. I liked the story and it’s message but I had a little difficulty connecting to the characters. Don’t get me wrong the writing was good but something was missing on my end. I did like how as the story progressed Allison does a complete 180. She finds her passion, new friends and became more confident as a person. Sterling was a good support system but

I don't usually leave reviews for books I've proofread...but I had to for this one.
This was my first read from Sadie Allen, and I have to tell you, I absolutely loved it!

A remarkable story of young love, second chances, fear, overcoming obstacles, life...
An incredibly sweet, funny, and emotional story with a very profound message.

I almost passed Saving Me up...almost.
I read the description (The original, the new one is a much better representation of the story) and waffled. I admit it. I didn’t know if I wanted to put myself in that kind of emotional head space because it would be a conscious and deliberate choice to do so and trust in the author, not because of triggers or having a hard limit on the topic, but one never knows how something will affect them at any moment in time. But as soo

I'm having really good reading year, every book I've read so far is better than the previous. Saving Me might just be my favourite contemporary book ever, definitely top 5. :)

Ally is living perfect life, on the outside. She is star of track team, one of the most popular girls in school with a lot of friends.

Reality is far from perfect. She lives in very controlling household. Everything is picked for her, her clothes, friends, training schedule, food she may or may not eat

Saving Me was an emotional and great 5 star read.

You get pulled in right from the beginning when Ally is getting ready to make a drastic and life changing move. Luckily someone shows up and makes the decision for her, which will send her life in a totally different direction. It's the boy (Sterling) who she has seen around that has captured her attention and stirs something inside of her.

Wounds to the soul didn’t just bleed, they ate at your very being.

Saving Me is a great read. It's a beautiful written story. I was hooked from beginning to end. Ally is great character. Ally felt like a true and real character. Looking from the outside Ally looks like she is put together and she has it all but Ally really is struggling. When she has hit bottom, Sterling shows up at the right time. Sterling is a great guy. He just what Ally need in her life. This one is a bit of an emotional read and it touches on a couple of tough topics. I really loved this. ...more

It has taken me several days after finishing this story to sit down and write my review because this story has a personal meaning to me. Growing up I witnessed my sister struggling with her depression and sometimes it's difficult to read something dealing with that subject. However, I must say that this is such an important topic that needs to be brought to light.

This book was beautiful. First of all, I loved the fact that the author acknowledged that love is not the solution for curing mental illness but it definitely helps in the process. That love doesn’t always have to be romantic, it can be any kind of love and when you have a strong support system, your will to get better definitely increases. At least that

The cast of characters in this book was amazing. So much depth in so little pages. All characters were dynamic, and some comparisons were made between different cliques that I liked to see, showing that mean people were in all walks of life, just as good people were. At one point, Ally, the female protagonist, calls attention to this and shames someone on their biased opinion. It was one of the best, most profound moments in this book.

The book starts with Ally about to do something really horrib

“It’s all part of my plan.”

“Plan for what?”

“My plan for saving you.”

Just reading that quote hurts my heart. I love that Sadie Allen can take something so tragic and turn it into a beautifully written story. This is the first book I’ve read of hers and it completely blew my mind. I know for a fact I can’t give Saving Me anything less than 5 Stars! I loved the main characters. Blake and Elodie brought so much to the story, and I will be having a high school crush on Sterling for awhile.

Saving Me takes you back to high school and how difficult it is to deal with all the issues that we, as adults, forget. The pressure from parents, peers, and teachers. The inner struggles of coming of age and insecurity. The negative and positive effects our families have.

Ally had just reached the edge of the burden she felt she could carry. Pressures of her dad, grades, track and dating the right boy. Dressing a certain way, acting appropriately. She never got to be herself or even discover wh

I did enjoy this well written YA story with a subject matter that is very current. I think this book dealt with the subject matter very well and the characters are well written and connected extremely well.

I have read a few books by this author and absolutely loved them so I had high expectations going into this book, it really doesn’t disappoint! I really was drawn in from the first page and spat out at the end, I read this in one sitting and was left with a huge book hangover. This book was full of twists and turns, some I really didn’t see coming! I laughed, cried, swooned and shouted at my kindle while reading this, I really was taken on an emotional roller coaster, which I have come to expect ...more

My mind is still a bit of a mess after reading Saving Me.
The content was painfully accurate and beautifully so.
I really connected with Ally. I understand her stress. So many people underestimate the inner workings of the youth. She had grown so much through this story.
Her mom also turned out to be awesome! I loved her transformation.
Sterlin was just every girls dream. He was perfect. I enjoyed his efforts in helping Ally save her self.

So sweet and Inspiring

Overcoming obstacles in life is a learned experience. Some of us do it with flying colors acing the test as we go, others of us stumble their way through the storms tripping over every rock before finally looking down to see the path. Reading Ally’s story was very inspiring because she persevered through the darkness and came out on the other side. She had stumbled for so long but was given a second chance to see a life worth living. Sterling was every girls fantasy; the l

Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster ride this story is! This is a new author to me, but I am so pleased to have the chance of reading this novel. Ally appears to have the perfect life on the outside anyway, but internally, things could not get any worse, and at the lowest point in her life, the options are limited for her. School bad boy Sterling, comes to her rescue, and with his huge heart, is just what Ally needed. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! I am ...more

YOU MATTER AND DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU DON'T

This book was beautifully told about a girl who needed help with depression. I just loved how it can help out anyone out there who is struggling with wanting to live or or. I hope you know if you are struggling that you aren't worthless, and you matter. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you don't not even yourself. Just remember that there is always help and you won't always feel like this even if it does feel that way. It's temporary, but
